Awesome job! That little guy is so precious and I sure hope he found a Wonderful new home! My little guy is Very difficult to handle & he's 4yrs old! Not sure how it all got this way but I've always paid to groom him until recently when my groomer began to let her daughter groom my dog which would've been ok if she'd only checked to make sure she was doing ok & made sure I was ok with it! Now I'm trying to figure out how to do it & not make him look bad like he DOES right NOW! Ugh! Thnx! :)
Thank you for your video. I enjoy watching other groomers work to get tips and ideas for my own grooming. I also love hearing that we all have the same dialogue with dogs....hey, no, uh uh, good boy, good girl, hey, stay, sit etc etc....some days I forget how to talk to people! lol
@spanielmom93 - I just graduated from 2 dog grooming schools on line. I have been doing some hands on to get some experience. The problem is the groomer I work with doesn't really work with me to explain a lot of things to me. I am a perfectionist, and have to have things correct. She scissors the top knot on all dogs and I need to ( I think) use clippers to make it easier especially in the beginning. I also have a hard time with the feet. Any suggestion? You are great.
Spanielmom93 I love all your videos on grooming, I think you are great and love how you transforn the dogs into cuties. Keep up the good work. Maxine from uk. x
@95crackers Yes you should, that is a good question. Dogs who have long eyelashes are cute but any hair that can get into the eye and cause irritation or even damage to the surface of the eye should be trimmed away. ;)
@bitchoff1 Well, FYI I wasn't done with the dog, I was simply showing how to round the face... AND some people LOVE long ear fringe on Shih Tzu and I was trying to help this little shelter boy find a home so excuse me if it isn't JUST like you do it. ;) Thanks anyway... oh and I believe the word you are thinking of was "proportionATE" :)
@pritykazy If by daughter you mean your dog then yes. ;) The younger you start trimming your dog the better, the sooner they will be used to it and accept and even enjoy being groomed. ;) Just be careful to make it a pleasent experience for her. If she fights you or gets scared just take it slowly and give her lots of praise and even a few treats if necessary. :) Happy grooming!
@spanielmom93 thank you very much for the answer.. i will try my best to do it.. thanks fotr your very informative video.. take care and godbless u.. :-)
Our dog won't let you clip him all the time. It takes a few days to get him groomed especially in the face. Your video is great. Gave me some pointers on how to give him the bear face. You are patient and do well with the dogs. Great job!
Trying rewarding and praising him too so he's better next time and when he let's u clip a lot of say something like good boy.not tryin to be mean just giving out advice :)
@Idknowwhyimhere In her defense I did hear her say GOOD BOY!!!! :-) she was not mean at all!!! as a groomer I've seen and STOPPED mean. That was a very good SAFE handle.
@alexjeannie Thank you ;) I get soo sick of people saying I'm rough or being mean or something... I love dogs and would never be mean or hurt one!! If you don't love dogs then you can't be a groomer. :) I appreciate your comment. :)
@spanielmom93 dont let that mess bother you I am a professional groomer as well and "regular" people just dont know. you have to be in control when grooming or yo will be on the table and the dog will be grooming you LOL!!! just kidding but like i said regular people think when you are being firm that you are bring mean and thats not true. u were safe and nice .
I thought the video was great with a antsy dog like him. Our shitzu is the same way and even worse. He moves constantly. We decided to groom him ourselves and a leash calms him down but not completely. Anyone who grooms for a living knows all the pitfalls and ways to get a dog to cooperate. I'm learning. This video is great and she did a wonderful job controling the situation. Job well done.
I can NEVER tire from watching your Shih Tzu grooming videos...curious if you can show a close up of grooming their feet, and prepping them for winter-ized feet (live in a snow-ey area) and want to have it down pat--before the snow flies!--lol
Hi there and thank you! ;) I already have a video on feet but it isn't a Shih Tzu, you can still use the same technique though, I will send it to you, hope it helps! :)
I will send you my video on my Cocker it shows how to trim ears on just about any dog. :) Thanks for your compliments and comment. ;) Glad you enjoy my videos! :D

As people consider grooming their own dogs, I think it would be "VERY ADVISABLE"
to use scissors that are NOT so sharp pointed OR just use the trimmer.
What say you?

Today I was taking my 2 month old Shih Tzu, Gizmo, a shower and I realized that he had LONG eyelashes should I trim them?

You should have trimmed those ears a little if you where trying to make it more proportional. From a Dog Groomer.
