Well I type 8439 in, but i get nothing.

I think the number changes everytime

it doesn't change... and you don't "type" it in, you have to change the numbers from reverse, as shown in the video. if you think the game's author changed the room number, then observe the cell numbers across the hall from you from your peep hole.

which symbols? the numbers are 8439, but you have to input it backwards... it gives you 0-9 and i think the letters A-F. so, those are the "symbols".
