June 1st update: an A330-200 has been reported to disappear from radar just outside the coast of Brazil on its trip from Rio Janeiro to France i really hope they have all landed safely somewhere
Airbus's best aircraft is the legendary A300 series. A Fine aircraft. I was never a fan of the A330 but i still like it because its simply a massive ass twin engined flyer, like the 777. Love the Rolls Royce "chainsaw" moan.
..to be honest 6lemans18, they did post a profit in Fiscal Year 2007..;-) Of course, that was after many years of losses and looks like 2008 will be a return to losses...:-(
AA did have "MRTC" for around $10 more, yet pax weren't willing to pay. That being said, UA's "E+" services has been a hit...
I would hope US-based carriers learn a thing or two from European, Asian and Middle East carriers about "friendly" services (a smile does help), which doesn't cost anything...
Jacobin777, It all about MONEY. America is consumed by greed, and that is why we are facing a possible recession. In America, you pay more and get less.
1)don't blame them...it's people here who like to drive gas-guzzling vehicles...
2)Some of the Middle East carriers such as Emirates and Air Arabia are actually profitable....with carriers such as Qatar stating they will be profitable in the next few years.
3)While the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has oil, the Emirates of Dubai (where EK is based) gets only 5% of its GDP from oil.
Even Southwest Airlines wasn't profitable its first few years of existence....
I've taken this flight LOADS of times..its fun. However my wife thinks we should start flying PK more and I agree so I don't know how many more times on EK I'll be flying...that being said, I have given EK a decade's worth of business..;-)
Jacobin777, I agree. Our Airlines here in America can't seem to get their acts straight. We lots three airlines in a week over gas prices. Complaining of Airline service is up in America. It's a shame.
Granted carriers such as EK have some advantages over US and European carriers, but their is no reason why US carrier cannot be more profitable, as well as provide better service.
It can seem fine by your standards. What I am trying to say is that, compared to most videos featuring plane take-offs, the quality of your sound is not that good.
...well, you seem to be one of the only people to make that complaint.....be it as it may, this is what I had and I wanted to share it with everyone....
Thanks for the sweet response. I can guess from your email that you are a girl ??? (Am I right ? Because if you were a boy, you would have replied in a nasty way with swear words) Anyway, thanks again for posting. I will adopt a relaxed demeanour as from now.
Not true.Boeing 777-ER kickes ass over this thing in terms of passenger capacity and B777-LR kicks ass over this thing in terms of fuel capacity and longer range.
But Im not saying it's a bad plane at all.Fairly priced and is good for Europe-Mideast and East Asia-Mideast services.Neverthless B777 is far superior.
PIA is still currently the only operater and also the FIRST customer and operator.PIA has a history of breaking records.About the "3 times thing" I made an approximate claim which included payload.A330 needs refueling on a high payload in Europe going from Dubai to North America(on high payload ofcourse) Wheras PIA goes straight from Karachi or Lahore on its B777-LR from Karachi or Lahre without refueling again on heavy payload,so yeah this is roughly 1.5-3 times the distance.
stuka 101-in which way is the A330-300 better? maybe better capacity? well this one is better because it has range that dwarfs the A333's by 2000km! I've been on this a/c a lot of times. Always from DXB to a European destination(ie. Rome, Paris, Frankfurt, Milano...)And this year im going to NY with EK-oh yeah!the 777-300ER is waiting 4 me!
sorry to break your heart vmrgrsergr, but Emirates has an order of 10 Boeing 777-200LR(log range jets) PIA was the launch customer. EK put up an order for "a lot" of T7's and when they are all recieved they will have the biggest t7 fleet in the world, that place currently belongs to SIA which has 60-somethings T7's.
Sorry to break the heart of the Airbus 330 fans, but the B777-Long Range is the longest range civilian jet in the world(can go up to 3 times the distance of A330).And only Pakistan International Airlines got it!:-)
a330-200, 12,500 km (6,750 nautical miles). 777LR 17,445 km (9,420 nautical miles). Yes it is the longest range airliner. I hope you were being sarcastic about the "3 times" claim.
I have been on EK606 to KHI.

The A300 is a nice plane as well. The first A300 I flew on was an Eastern A300...to Florida.
Unlike the A333, the A332 is much more "proportional"..IMHO..

Guess what, Jacobin777. American Airlines just canceled 1,000+ flights today, because of wiring issued with their MD-80s.

Even though "officially" we aren't in a recession, I think for practical purposes, we are in a recession.
The comment of "paying more and getting less" as you properly put it is getting worse!
Cheers...
