I used to let my kids watch, untill they had to be all submisive to whoever and come up with cookie monsters replacement..carrot monster! give me a break! I'm surprised they haven't perscribed Abilify for Oscar, clothing for Big Bird, speach tharapy for Elmo, and Aspen dental hasn't given the Count his smile back.
Congratulations to everyone ever involved with the production of SS, I have been a fan since I saw the first episode in 1969 as a nine year old, I love it today as a 49year old as much as I did then, too many of become serious adults, glad that hasn't happened to me.
aw i remember when i was 4 years old it was 1992 i auditioned for the show here in new york city i loved it i was in it until the age of 9 which was in 1997 and i'm a theater actress here in new york and love it but i'll always remember sesame street and being a kid!
The best show ever, really. I could never get enough Sesame Street, even now at the age of 20! Too bad Elmo's been overly featured, but in this timeframe it was just freakin awesome!!!
when i was in jamaica i watched sesame street everytime it was on i loveeeeed it. but they dont show it in england which is baddd! i swear even though im 14 i would really still watch it now.
i agree....it displays so much childhood innocence and is really hilarious. These days it's nothing but violence and sex jokes. I like these original plain plots....they just bring peace
I didn't know that Big Bird was only 6 years old! I don't remember ever seeing an episode where they actually mentioned his age. I'd always just assumed that he was an adult.
Although when the show first started, he was played like a confused, goofy, adult. But before long, the performer (Carol Spinny) realized that Big Bird should be a child, so they changed him to a 6 year old.
His age is also mentioned in the first Sesame Street movie, "Follow That Bird."
I TOTALLY remember this episode! OMG!!!!! I thought it was so funny! I must have seen the re-airing of it, because I would have been about 7 and I watched Sesame Street every day that summer. It's so weird that this one sticks with me, though, because it's rare that I still remember the main plot of a specific epsiode since I watched so many growing up.
0:25 JESUS! Big Bird is BIG!

I love how after the song, Telly drops the rock at 9:05. Then, the way he reacts. He dropped it on his own foot, didn't he.

If Big Bird is only 6 and he's that big...you won't wanna mess with him when he's a full grown adult, LOL
Loved the character though :)

what's a street scene? and why don't they have them anymore?
ay2122 3 years ago
ay2122--
They do still have them.
A "street scene" is just a scene on the show that takes place anywhere on the actual Sesame "street" itself.

The "Around the Corner" era was pretty awkward, in my opinion

The rerecorded version of the song, "It's Just a Rock (But I Like It Fine)", is released on the 1993 "Sesame Road" tape cassette.

It's pretty good.
Telly really needs to stand up to Big Bird not carry "The Rock" anymore!
