Although I like your work, I just think Digital-Lomography is an oxymoron; fauxmography is probably a better way to describe what you have posted. I don't mean this as an insult either; like I said, I like this work...it just belongs [IMHO] in a different category.
Great job! It's not about the tools, it's about the result. I just picked up a Holga and am waiting for my first 2 rolls to come back from the lab. Stoked!
bet 5 dollars if the poster didn't say these were digitally edited to look like lomographic pictures they wouldn't be able to tell the difference. your a talented editor and don't let these pricks tell you otherwise
awesome work man! A true modern visionary photographer at work! Art comes in all shapes and sizes and this is just another great way of making nice pictures.
Photoshop gives you the power no the camera fare enough lomo has a cool effect but you might not get the effect you wanted or planned for showing you have no control on how your photos look.
whats with all the negative comments? i like with uve done.. all those pretentious pricks telling u to get a real holga seriously need to pull their heads out of their asses.
i work as a photographer and own film and digital cameras but i still sometimes edit my digitals into things like what u have done.
its just about experimenting and playing.
pinsboy and the rest of them really need to get over themselves
keep the good job and dont bother with those who dont appreciate technology... they even shouldnt have youtube accounts... i would love to see the trying to post a lomo picture in here without the advance of digital photography.
People that relay on Holgas and Dianas is up to them. I respect that and dont go to their websites to offend them... here at least we can make lomo effect from a dslr and still have a great camera that take awesome pictures with excellent resolution...
What's worse than an over editor, an overblown trendo owing an holga just to own a holga. The complainers for this video are tapped.
Photoshop and modern editing and digital are actually good for art in photography. It's the final image and what it conveys that matters. The only place I draw the line is compositing and massive movement for non HDR purposes.
@pinsboy bums are the ones that don't edit there photos, real photographers can spend hours editing just 1 photo, making it the way they see it in there mind..ever heard of the old photography saying "Make pictures don't just take them"
omg thanks so much! not much ppl answer you these days without cursing you out, btw does cvs or walgreens do that?! hehe i live in miami beach so there is almost no photoshops here
@iSkateBoard10 in photo printing places they can put them on dics so you can copy it on your computer and put it on facebook youtube ect. hope i've helped :-)
Author, I guess you did a pretty good job here. Lomography is about philosophy and simply you could get lomo result in anyway, but it doesn't also mean we can't use photoshop to achieve such result...that's the style you like, that's the style you get.
btw lomo is not the pioneer in that phylosophy... Monsieur Benson probably the best street photographer that do work just like lomo shooter before lomo is getting famouse.
In japan there's term 'osanpo camera' similar to Lomography...
I dig it. I like to try to make my photos look vintage as well. Its a fun challenge. Of course I own vintage film cameras but lets face it. Its not always as convenient to shoot everything on a film camera.
but if someone was being creative and wanted to come up with a way to pretend they are listening to a radio, I guess putting a blanket over a HD television would be one option. I have 3 Dianas, 2 lomos a HOLGAand a bunch of other old school cameras. The point was to try to recreate LOMO with a high tec digital camera. Part of it was to play around with photoshop.
Half the point of lomography is ALWAYS carrying a camera you wouldn't mind throwing off a cliff. A camera you wouldn't mind handing to a stranger so he can take a picture of you.
I love lomography. I love radio.
But I can't understand why someone would imitate lomography, or pretend their HD television didn't have a picture.
thank you for your comment. Glad you are interested in photography. But, Im not going to justify my work or motivation behind. And, you don't have to understand it. You are taking this way to seriously, Instead of berating my work, perhaps you should dust off your LOMO and post a slide show. I'd love to see other peoples work. Good luck!
love them. i've been trying to find a gimp tutorial for this effect, but no luck so far. how did you learn or did you just work it out for yourself? Would love some pointers or links to tutorials
Thanks Lunda. I just played around in photoshop. Added a vinett, made the corners dark, played with saturation and a bunch of other alterations. just very basic adjustments... Thx for your comment
To throw in my bit (not that anyone cares) I think what ever gets you in that creative "zen" experience is good. I' ve owned Leicas, Hasselblads , Nikons etc. but am now having the time of my life playing with a couple pieces of junk (holga, and holga WPC) creating interesting images, and am very enthusiastic about holgas. I however would never be offended by someone faking the look of a holga image. That's like driving a Yugo and looking down smugly at the Aston Martin next to you!
What's stopping you from playing in photoshop with film photography scanned in? Don't get me wrong, I love playing in photoshop and have for years but you just can't beat the original. Taking a film photograph and trying to make it look like a digital photograph is far more fun and changelling imo. I recomend it.
I am not really sure what your issue is. But, all I wanted to do was "try" to turn some digital images into a LOMO Look, thats it. You are taking this way too serious. I have 50 rolls of film, 2 Lomos, and unlimited access to a lab that cross processes film. This was just a project and I was bored. is that ok with you?
Takes away from the fun.. for you or me? I have just as much fun messing around in photoshop as I do driving 10 miles to the closest lab that will cross process. but thanks for your reply.
these shots are good dont get me wrong but they dont have the feel of a lomo image or a holga one there just isnt any soul to it you can tell whats been changed to look lo fi and dark and cross processed you should just spend the 70 bucks and get a real proper holga camera take some shots and then tell me which one is better
People commenting saying about you have over edited need to calm down I think, you have your own style and I like that

What is lomo? how lomo differs from a digital cam?
djma26 2 years ago
But... the fun of lomography is using a $30 toy camera that you can take everywhere without worrying about breaking it.
This is like putting a blanket over your HD television set, just so you can pretend you're listening to the radio.
