  • 'make sure your car is out of gear' hahahah !

  • Can a subwoofer be ran off the head unit without an amp?

  • @mattavalon No !

  • @mattavalon You defiantly want an amplifier for subwoofers. That has nothing to do with your head unit rather your battery

  • no help at all

  • I can follow how to install it, but my questions are: 1. How do I uninstall the factory tape player in this old car? 2. How do I know if I will need extra parts, (like a "kit" to make the deck fit)? If someone could answer those questions, I would be so thankful! Best Buy no longer does free installations with purchase and I am NOT going to pay someone $90 bucks to do something so simple. But I am a chick & I've never done this before. Helpful tips & advice, please?

  • just a little of british accent :)

  • any1 looking for a sony CDX-FW570 i have one for sale for 35$ inbox me if interested i live in dade city fl 352

  • this shit is not how you should install a car stereo

    1) unhook the battery

    2) the wire harnesses don't usually come with something like that you have to strip every wire

    3) just install it then add your radio stations, this idiot was taking it out etc. just put it in and worry about that shit later

  • this was way to easy, my head unit didnt come with 2 extra plugs. just bare wire and the main plug that goes in to the head unit.

  • After istallation my CD (Pioneer DEH50 UB) iam loosing battery power in a week.

    Any anser in my problem?

  • @telosfd run your car to charge the battery up ;D

Your radio doesn't use up any battery when you've got it of... so it shouldn't make a difference.

  • hi i have a 1999 toyota camary and it still has the stock stereo in it how do i remove it?

  • croooykyy not the sony powa lou!

  • Also to remove an older stereo you can use old metal coat hangers, the Australia way to remove a stereo :)

  • how can i be sure a stereo can fit my specific make and model?

  • do people really fuckin steal these out of your car if you dont take off the faceplate?

  • @bubs7569 the steal them if you dont too!

  • @bubs7569 YES BUT ITS USELESS BECAUSE NOBODY IS GONNA BUY IT CAUSE ITS MISSING THE FACEPLATE OBVIOUSLY. SO IF HE/SHE STEALS IT YOU BOTH LOSE OUT.

  • hi

how would i install this on a 93 protege?

  • If I buy a radio with HD radio is the HD radio free? I have am and fm with my Pontiac Vibe right now.

  • @michiganboy10 NO. MINE IS A SONY AND IT SAYS "HD RADIO READY" BUT I HAVE TO BUY AN EXTRA PIECE FOR IT TO WORK. BUT YOU CAN BUY SOME RECEIVER THAT ALREADY HAVE THE "HD RADIO BUILT IN" BUT USUALLY COST A LITTLE MORE.

  • When he turned off the ignition after saving a radio station to memory, the unit didn't beep. That meant it wasn't hooked up to unswitched power. He didn't need to save a station to memory to find that out. That's what the red and yellow are - one turns the power off when you switch the ignition off, the other stays on. They both need to be on for full functioning.

  • Does the stereo come with the 'cage' thing? Cheers

  • Can you use the keys for 2001 honda cr-v??

  • hey so when you put your head unit in the colors of the cords has to match the with the factory cord.

Big pat on the back for me! My only snag is I bought it fm argos with installation (£40) so now gotta see if i can get a refund for the prepaid installation! Fingers crossed!

  • thanks for posting

  • Hi, do i need to get a DIN tool if the car stereo is already a deck? It's not the manufacturer's stereo, but I want to upgrade to a new deck that has a usb and aux input.

  • please send me more!

  • I have a couple of basic questions, as this will be my first install. I have a '99 BMW 318 saloon and will be replacing the standard tape player. Firstly, the cage you use to mount the head unit - does that come with the unit? And if not, where would I find one? Secondly, I've heard of a "wiring harness" a few times; again is this something I'll need? I'm aware that I'll need a fascia and have ordered as appropriate.

  • dude, ive got the same damn problem.i bought a cdx gt740ui and i can hear static but the aux and cd are not working, no volume out of the speakers. if u found a solution, lemme know, ill look at this too

  • only if it was that easy for my car....

  • Thanks for showing us how to plug in wires. Don't listen to this guy. He didn't even tell you to disconnect the negative lead of the battery. If you don't you will damage your car and or radio.

  • why cant it be that easy in america????

  • does the original car stereo already come with the wires? i got an xplod to stereo

  • Securing the cage is usually the last thing you do. At least for domestic (American) cars.

  • Hey, my car had an aftermarket stereo in it when I bought it, I think the brand is Kenwood. If I wanted to put a sony stereo in it, would it be super easy? A better way to phrase that might be...Would it be easier to install a new stereo in a car that already has an aftermarket stereo rather than a factory one?

  • What happens if u turn off ur car and ur stereo stays on?

  • @EspressoSnowflake92 youre remote wire is messed up..go fix it.

  • Hi, It would be the best idea but you can use a Hi to Low level convertor try searching for SRCA on our web site, it attaches to the speaker wires and convertors the signal into to Phono plugs.

  • no you don't

  • when you buy a new stereo does it come with the two handle thingy to remove your old radio?

  • Hi, No you only usually get the Keys to remove the new stereo you have purchased, some times these will work on the old ones if not you can buy them from £3.99 search for keys on our web site.

  • good video. I have a 99 toyota avalon with a stereo and a dish charger under it . Both are factory. How can i take them out of panel. It looks easy but just trying to make sure. Thanx

  • Hi, First of all you need to take the wood trim off including the heater vents, there is a catch at the top inbtween the vents, once that is off its just 4 screws to take out the old unit, you will need a wiring harness to change the unit to save cutting wires.

  • Hi, couple of new qrestions:

    1) Before you install any car stereo, do you need to detach the negative or postive from the battery.

    2) Also the way you installed it, does this apply to all car stereo, whether its kenwood or alpine. Is the installationthe same way?

    3) What is the silver hoop tools did you use to take out the stereo??

Nice video, helpful to any newbies like me!!

  • Hi, This installation is standard for all of the main manufactures Pioneer, Alpine etc. You dont have to take the power leads off the batterey i would advise just having the ignition off.

The silver things are just car stereo removal keys they are generally specifc to your car.

  • i fitted a stereo for the first time and although it didn't go as smoothly as you, i succeeded nevertheless. many thanks for this great video.

  • I have just ordered a Sony CDX-GT45IP from you and was wondering if i need a adpater to connect it to my ford fiesta or if it comes with the head unit?

  • 'centre' is correct for the British.

  • um.. centre is actually spelled, "center".. is this not in the U.S.?

  • obvs not you fucking little retard

  • did u have to detach the negative or positive connector to the battery before u did this?

  • Yes

  • helpful thanx

  • Did I miss it or did he not bend the tabs in on the metal cage so that the radio is secured?

  • @DrBlalock He Did a Few

  • not helpful what so ever if you dont know how to do that you should be shot

  • Hello, Pleas can you give me that chaps number, I would love to show him a good time.

  • Hello, before I buy this unit, could you please explain how to remove the existing one from a Hyundai Accent '97 model? I've been wrestling with it for some time now, but no joy.

  • hi i have hyundai accent, and i change radio on JVC. Its very dyfficult:/

  • If i wanted to install the head unit but also want to keep the extra space underneath for phone/ipod storage, how do I go about leaving it as an empty block? Is there a cartridge I should buy?

  • I have an 03 hyundai tiburon gt. I will google those parts. =)

  • Hello. Great video. I have the same exact unit. I was wondering. I have an infinity head unit in the dash. It takes up a lot more space than this head unit (like twice or 3/4 as much). Is there anything special I need to put it in? Would you recommend I get this professionally done? Or is there a different video you can show me to teach me to do this?

  • Hi you will need a facia adaptor what car do you have?

  • that boy is so sexy, i want him so much please email me your number !!!

  • Thank you we'll let him know

  • YOu didnt secure the "Cage" with the tabs! dont forget to do that or your "sony" unit will fall out...lol

  • Opps they edited that bit out by mistake but yes your right you must secure the cage!

  • how would i remove a mercedes sprinter 04 stereo?

  • As much as I hate to say it. Xplod isn't really that great. But 5 stars for good vid.

  • My red and yellow wires wont come out at the back? It seems almost moulded in. Now what, cause my radio stations won't save, nor will my settings?

  • Never mind. I just had to pull it really hard. Working sweet now!

  • Hi, you will have to take it off the power and cut the two wires and then re-conect them to each other, try using bullet connectors.

  • Yesss!! Quality video, just what I was looking for, and what are the chances you'd have the same car, a clio! You guys have just saved me £30 (quoted cost for installation). Thanks car audio centre.

  • how to remove car stereo from honda accord 2000?

  • Hi there will be 2 screws underneath the trim above your speedo's take thos 2 out and the whole plastic trim should come off be careful not to snap any thing though!

There will then be 2 screws either side of the head unit remove those and your done

  • Mi uncles car burned since he didn't install it the right way lol

  • Oh Dear!

Sholud have watched this Vid first! lol

  • what if you hook up all the cables it turns on but there is no sound? what is wrong?

  • What about if the cable from the car it doesn't fit with the new stereo?

  • Then you will require what is called an ISO wiring harness this will let you plug your new unit directly in, these ISO's are specific to your car so a Honda will require a Honda ISO etc.

  • Then it sounds like a speaker fault.

Try testing the unit outside of the car this will confirm if its the unit or the speakers

  • do all radios fit in all cars even if the radio is a different size? I have a big radio in my car and I am replacing it with a smaller one. how do i meake sure it fits?

  • Hi, If you have a double din head unit in your car and want to replace it with a single din unit like the one above then you will need to get a fascia replacement that will fill all the gaps left by the larger original stereo. If you let us know what car you have we can find the right fascia for you.

  • thanks. i have an 2004 pontiac grand prix.

  • Hi what car do you have?

For most cars you can purcahse a plastice facia adaptor which will reduce the size of the hole and allow you to put a single din stereo in it.

  • Hi there Great video ..I got a Question..I have an 89 BMW 535i with Stock original Radio.( which dosnt come with a Harness ) and i want to instal Sony CdxGt220 ( which got a harness) should i try and find a harness or would it work without one ??

  • Hi there you will need 2 accessories, an iso loom and a facia adaptor try googleing these part numbers CT20BM01 and CT24BM02

    GOOD LUCK

  • thank you very much... cheers

  • this guy is husky as shtt..lol

  • halfords charge 20 pounds for this service

  • the wires that came with my cd player doesnt have that black park at the end, it only has it on the end where u connect it to the back of the cd player.. so what should i do?

  • what the hell, i have to rip through my hole dash and some other crap, just to get to my old cd player.. wich it was that easy.. yet again my car is a 1990 toyota corolla

  • there is one thing u did forget first, and that was to remove the negative battery(seen it in recent videos),but anyway,

thats crazy it takes no more than 5 minutes, and best buy charges $70, thx 4 da video

  • haha, 2 things, thats a ford, they take no time, and car that you have to take the dash apart is a pain, secondly he skipped a few steps for wiring

  • where can i find the universal release key.. can some body tell me please

  • found this video helpful, thanks car audio centre

  • nice one but I think nobody needs instructions like this to install cd player in the car.... :P

  • yeah nice tip with the red and yellow wires been wondering how to fix this problem for a while

  • make sure that car is not in gear hahahahahahahahah

  • lmao...his 30 seconds was only 8 seconds

  • thank so much for tellin me 2 switch the yellow and red wire u are a life saver

  • Yeah, Sony fuckin sucks ass

  • what was that funny tool he used in 1:10?

  • Hi,

The funny tool he was using was a universal release key. These are used to release the headunit from the car. You will need a set of these to release most makes of OEM car head unit.

I hope this explains what he was doing.

  • I agree with you wax333 he didn't show any crimping or soldering. Which leaves me to wonder if the wire harness came that way or was it just an omission. If you look at 36seconds it shows the power loom already connected. Then at 4:22 you see him just pop the wires of of the sockets and then reattach them. So maybe he didn't have to do any crimping or soldering.

  • He doesn't show you any crimping or cutting because that is not requierd with a car that is ISO standard. All the big brands like Sony,Kenwood,Poneer etc use Standard ISO connections on the end of there power looms these connections will only plug into the car one way,so the speakers will only connect to the speakers and the power to the power.

  • Most of the time crimping and soldering isn't necessary. Most cars made in the last 15 years use standard connections, so it's just a case of plugging the new stereo in.

  • this is the easy way of installing a car stereo why dont you show us the proper way with crimping wires and sorts

  • i have power in that it will suck the cd in but i get no sound and no display on the face. if i leave it connected it drains my battery overnight. i had an old sony xplod cd player in there previously. everything seems to plug in fine but i get nothing... its driving me insane... i cant work it out. any ideas?

  • do you have ignition wire connected ? because the unit uses 2 positive connections the first is for battery + which keeps all the settings and the second is to turn on the unit which comes on with the key on acc

  • I have the same problem as above, a sound comes on as I'm attaching the wires and it sucks in my CD but it doesn't have any sound or display. Not sure which wire is which, could you explain it to me more?

  • which wires would you be connecting the red and yellow wire ? if you wanna test your radio just get a 12 volt battery twist the red and yellow wire together and attach them to the positive terminal on the battery and connect the single black wire to the negative terminal on the battery then use any set of matching colour code speaker wires and connect them to any speaker you have available the rule of thumb being the higher or solid colour is generally positive and the darker being negative

  • so im assuming youve connected the battery +12v now you have to connect the ignition or acc +12v to your ignition wiring from your factory radio loom and then mount the black wire being your -12v and then ull have the display and sound will come on once youve done all that

all there is is to wire your speakers

  • Hi, I have a stupid question because I don't have my instruction manual so I can set the stereo clock on a SONY CDX-GT-120 Head unit.. So would you be kind enough to tell me, how to set the clock on this car stereo? THANKS!!!

  • this may not be of any help but usually you set the clock with the radio in standby and sony usually has set keys marked for clock

  • i wish mine was this easy i have to splice wires everywhere

  • thanx ma8

  • where can i get those tools to remove my existing radio

  • hi, i have this head unit and i've tried to install it in my 1999 fiat bravo s, i found that the connectors from my car dont fit the headunit or the power loom.. any suggestions, or if i need additional connectors what one should i be looking for?

    Thanks

  • Hi, I ordered one of the iso sony 16 pin adapter things cauz I lost mine. It came with 3 pins missing in one of them and 2 wires (pink and purple) were just dangling.

Is this normal and shall I connect it up

    or

    WHAT SHALL I DO?

  • The cables you mentioned are the phone mute, back light and amp turn-on remote cables. Not every car has them. So you will be ok connecting it up.

  • Hi, I connected it up but no power.

My Mate came to rescue but he said that the wiring in the car is probally messed up.

He said to also check the fuses because some were broken.

Would u know by any chance which fuse cauz there all in a row and I dont know.

    VW Golf

  • THE GUY CHARGED £30 TO CUT THE RED AND YELLOW WIRE AND SWAP THEM AROUND.

    grrrrr
