Canadian you can be PROUD of the way you pay respects to your fallen heroes ,to all fallen heroes. If french people would do the same,i would be one of thembut....in France it is not the way...
FInd out what's really happening in Afghanistan and watch the film WAGING PEACE: Canada in Afghanistan....you can order a copy on line....WAGING PEACE: Canada in Afghanistan is the only independent film to be made on the Canadian mission since the war began....really good film.
Correct -- for the section between Trenton and Toronto, it's still the '401' but additional signage at the side of the highway reminds people of its commemorative name.
Thank you for taking the time to mark this moment, at the end of a fallen soldiers repatriation procession. The media often overlook this very intimate and emotional moment, for everyone involved. I am one of the Toronto Police Supervisors who coordinate this honour guard on Grenville Street. I have witnessed the return of far too many fallen soldiers, but I am honoured to have been a part of the repatriation of each of them on their return home.
I'v been on that ride and will always remember it . For my brother trooper Brian Good KIA Afghanistan Jan 7 2009 , and I know the feeling that goes through your heart at every corner at every bridge and thank you all.
Unbelievable. The perspective and emotion shown here are not what we usually see when a fallen soldier returns.
Canadians are used to seeing highway overpasses and access ramps blocked with ambulances, fire trucks, police cruisers and ordinary citizens paying their respects. This is something different, and must be seen to be appreciated.

So the 401 is now officially 'The Highway of Heroes'?

@TrandomnesstwO and the route they take once they are off the 401 is called the "Route of Heroes" (it's the DVP, bloor street and bay street)

We will always remember your sacrifice.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
...Lest we forget.

Wow. Thank you. I saw them at the overpass near my house and was never overcome with such emotion. This does the same.
