Why do you think that america and canada are the only countries that play American football? because they such so much at sports the rest of the world plays that they have to make up other sports so they don't have to com peat with the rest of the world.
@gavinjamesaitken1 Per capita means nothing. It's about who wins more. Not our fault other countries don't get laid more. Or that people immigrate here by the millions. So by your definition since so little of Americans play rugby, we are better than ya'll due to the sheer massive ammount of people playing there compared to here, as we still can hold our own in most circumstances. Granted, we won't be winning any rugby world cups anytime soon, but we are not the worst by far.

We don't gwet completely destroyed in most mathces, because we don't have it here to play our whole lives like ya'll do. We hate Mexicans? It's the land of opportunity because anyone can better themselves.

americans actually took rugby and changed it, made it their own game - hence the over-padding and protection, softness, and overall making it a game for pussies who can't play rugby.
NFL is just a form of rugby its the same general idea you have to run to the other side of the field with the ball in hand to score without getting tackled really the differences are NFL more pads and you can throw the ball at any direction and rugby little or no pads and you can only throw the ball to the sides and you can kick it
People who grow up playing rugby are going to say its a harder sport than football, same goes for vis-versa. I play both sports, their both extremly fun, but are challenging in different aspects. @culchie1982 Dude, it appears he's a bit of a troll, and seems to also be talking bollocks. Not sure there's empirical evidence to prove what he's ranting about. Although why let silly things such as evidence get in the way of a good rant. ;)
@culchie1982 I'm not giving you my name, it's inappropriate to disclose details about players you have worked intimately with and it's a really bad reflection on the other S and C staff too. Look I don't care, I just think there's massive room for improvement in the area in rugby generally. The New Zealanders seem to be ahead of the game from what I understand which may explain why they're the dominant force in union currently.
@culchie1982 Close, but UK based... Obviously, it's the internet anyone can claim anything. I truly believe the first teams to eradicate rugbys drinking culture and then make all the players appreciate how much they can get out of S and C will dominate.
NFL player are strong and explosive, no doubt about it. But I would be very doubtful about their stamina levels due to their larger size. If NFL players were to play a full 80 minute game of rugby, where you are expected to run between 80% - 100% of full pace for most of the game, most of them would fade at half time. It would be like watching Mike Tyson swinging hard for 3 rounds, and then punching himself out for the rest of the fight.
these lifts are way harder than they look... the amount of technique involved is insane, I busted my knees up with the bar when bringing the weight down lol
I'd have to say if we saw any defensive line or maybe even offensive line football player in a gym im putting money on the fact that theyd be pushing way more weight than these guys...but these guys also have to be slimmer to be able to run for 80 minutes so its hard to compare
anyone know they name of the exercises they were doing at 0:26,0:45, 1;42 (If it all different) and 1:25, 2:04? I trying to train for rugby but just lack the knowledge
I suppose you're comparing them to your elite Linemen in AF who are so fat they couldn't walk the length of themselves without collapsing and dieing of cardiac arrest. Linemen apart, rugby players are similiar in size to any of your American football players.....but remember one thing, they run for 80 minutes also.
@culchie1982 Are you talking about defensive or offensive lineman? Defensive lineman, especially DEs, and offensive lineman, especially Tackles, are often the best mix of power/strength on the field. They are *much* more powerful than your average rugby player. But you are right, they have a different type of endurance than rugby players - not better or worse.
Australia and have been playing rugby for about 5 years now and am an avid supporter of the game, but if you look at someone like ray lewis in the NFL, im still pretty sure he'd kill it in rugby
@otoolej11 No doubt he'd do well in rugby but I don't see the big deal with Ray Lewis. Sure he hits hard but rugby will always have the hardest hitter in both games which is Jonah Lomu. It's all about weight x speed, Jonah weighed at 275lbs (125 kgs) and ran as fast as most NFL running backs.
@BadNeighbour I don't give a fuck, he'll probably keel over in his 50s from a myocardial infarction, due to his crap aerobic capacity. Rugby players are streets ahead in terms of toughness as well, check out a guy called Wayne Buck Shelford, from NZ. He once played on with a lacerated scrotum- now that's toughness.
@culchie1982 Mate most of the NFL guys are faster, stronger and therefore more powerful than any rugby guys. You will not find athletes like Brian Cushing in rugby. Their physical capabilities are dictated by the nature of both games (and their difference in work ethics - lack of it in many rugby players). They are however, not as aerobically fit.
@Austin333 Why are you telling me something I already know? Rugby requires more endurance, therefore the guys are that bit smaller, but not that much smaller! Lomu was 120kg, 6ft 5 and could run a 100 in under 11 seconds, Pierre Spies, Sonny Bill Williams would be in the same category.
Rugby players can weigh anything from 85kg up to 140kg. Now imagine if they were paying a Sport where each play only lasted 6 seconds like AF - Imagine how big they would be!
@culchie1982 Lomu was that size but I can almost guarantee he was as weak as piss. I also doubt any 'timed' 100 m that rugby players claim, they're often hand timed and done when they were significantly lighter. Spies is exactly what a professional rugby player should be like and would likely go really well in the NFL, I agree with you. My point is rugby as a whole is still very unprofessional whereas the NFL is the opposite.
I see these players daily, they are big, but weak and lazy.
@Austin333 You're talking out of your ass. How can a man who weighs 120kg, and runs as fast as he could, be described as "weak as piss"? It's sheer unadulterated power.
You seem to idolize AF players, players who run for no more than 6 seconds at a time.....yes SIX fuckin seconds! The majority of linemen are morbidly obese, and a fair percentage die at an early age because of cardiovascular disease. Some athletes alright!
And in terms of toughness Rugby and AF aren't even in the same park.
@culchie1982 Weak in the gym. Jonah would not have the same impact now as he did then, he looked so good because players were (and some still are) piss weak and smaller. I don't idolize AF players, I'm a rugby player. I just think generally AFs are physically superior to rugby players purely due to the lack of professionalism in rugby. Note I didn't say all, some rugby players are incredible athletes (think mostly southern hemisphere.
Also, seen many pro rugby players body fats? Not lean.
@Austin333 Rugby is 100% professional in case you didn't notice. The difference in body sizes is down to the fact that Rugby has a bigger aerobic component that AF, it's nothing to do with the fact that Rugby players train any less harder than AF players. They're just conditioned in a different way.
@culchie1982 I've worked at professional rugby clubs, trust me, it may be professional on paper but it is not yet a professional game. Not all of the players are lazy, but unfortunately the majority are. When a back rows bodyfat is 20% + it is not due to the 'bigger aerobic component' in rugby. Not to mention the strength and conditioning coaches are as a whole a long way behind the guys in the USA and even the New Zealanders from what I understand.
@culchie1982 I'm not disclosing which clubs because it's not appropriate but they are both top premiership teams (won both heineken and premiership titles). I worked in the fitness teams at both. Just go and look at the players in real life, there's a world of difference between where most are physically and where they should be.
@Austin333 Rugby players work so hard on their conditioning! They spend so many hours on the field and in the weight rooms getting ready for games. I have one professional pre season under my belt and I'm currently in my first pro season and I can guarantee that you're mistaken. Players aren't allowed to be fat! You get put in "fat club" and get slaughtered until you're slim enough. Also, it's a bit sad if you're an S & C coach and you're bitching about your players physiques on youtube.
@Austin333 20% body fat try 30% body fat alot of AF players are dieing because of their poor conditioning. you should know that an increase in anaerobic decreases aerobic ability. A true rugby player knows its not the dog in the fight its the fight in the dog!!!!!!! and thats the difference
@Austin333 Polynesians on average are the biggest, strongest athletes in the world - they have a higher bone density, and muscle mass than African Americans. They dominate Rugby and If they got into American Football, I've no doubt they would dominate it as well.
@culchie1982 I kind of agree, they generally lack any kind of real work ethic and I'm not convinced they are really physically superior to african americans.
@Austin333 dude there isnt a single player in NFL that is, faster and stronger than the players in rugby, apart from possibly running backs and tight ends, most of them are either faster or stronger, due to the specialist nature of AF. Also what is all this bull shit about how professional AF is compared to rugby, do you have any idea how much AF players end up making a carer out of the game, a FAR smaller percentage than rugby. Serious dude, do you even know what your talking about at all?
@Austin333 are you FUCKED in the head ? pierre spies IS 1.94 m ... significantly taller AND 104 kg pure natural muscle without even dreaming ABOUT steroids like that dianabol guzzling, BLOATED ass licker Cumshing !!! get your facts right BEFORE YOU START SPEWING FERMENTED SHIT OUT OF FROM YOUR MOUTH ABOUT STRONGER FOOTBALL PLAYERS!! WEIGHT MEANS NOTHING you stupid FOOTBALL WORSHIPPER ! i fart in your general direction you dick GUZZLING TUMOUR GO WANK TO NFL you Ricket
@SUPERNYAGA My point was all players should be as conditioned and as strong as Spies. The fact is generally NFL players are stronger, bigger and faster than rugby players (comparing appropriate positions). This is purely due to the metabolic demands of each sport. Rugby players would defecate on them in any aerobic based tests and in all probability any repeated lactate inducing exercise too.
I am not an NFL fan. Height has nothing to do with training so is irrelevant.
@SUPERNYAGA Holy shit dude knot bash other sports just because you dont like them. yes rugby guys are better at endurance and long term physicality, but NFL players are usually stronger and bigger. again your right about weight meaning anything, but your wrong about steroids, 85% of NFL players dont use them you also need to get your facts right because i play both sports and i know what it takes to do both you are right about some things but wrong about alot.
@SUPERNYAGA black guys are better at everything, simple equation = more black guys in nfl than rugby , therefore - nfl overall has stronger , bigger , faster , and more hung athletes. simple aint it? haha
because you were fuckin slews in your whole life , you did every hard work for whites ...now you just do allkinds of show off .. playin AF and pretending you just survived from nuclear bomb dick head ... rugby is most dangerous team sport its not me sayin it , its the sport science people... and almost no black in rugby either ufc... coz these are thoughest but i like tennis tho
@unidentifyity oi you slut ,habana one of the top try scorer -black. whos name they shout out ery time they run ( BEASSSSTTT) <-- black. world champions who? SOUTH AFRICA. top try scorer in team BLACK. position scored most tries ? wing! both wings n reserves in most thea years BLACK. that blak enough for you
@arjin80r Habana is ranked 12th in the world, in amount of tries scored in test matches Literally behind 7 white people as 4 of them were NZ/Samoan. South Africa lost in the Quarter finals, the first time in SA history, the top try scorer in the Springboks is (Believe it or not) Percy Montgomery, a white man, granted Black men are by nature athletic, but that does not mean they dominate the sport.
@ashliski Different game completely. No rugby player at 19-20 stone would have a 60 inch vertical because they actually have to be fit enough to play 80 mins. Similarly, rugby players would trash NFL guys in terms of endurance.
@culchie1982 hey, i am a rugby player and i would rather play rugby then AF or any other sport haha. but i am also a huge fan of american football and there training and i like to incorporate there training into mine so i can become a better rugby player. you have to understand that these AF linemen are super fit and just as athletic as any rugby player. search Ndamukong Suh at 2010 NFL COMBINE.mp4 and u can really appreciate these guys pound for pound athletic ability
I agree, Linemen are supreme athletes. 50inch waists and all the endurance of a walrus - the very definition of an "athlete". Oh but they can sprint really, really hard for 40 yrds, I hear you say - Big fucking deal!!!!!!!!
@culchie1982 rugby games are always a physical and mental ordeal, these men are heavy, fast and immensely strong, they are pure athletes..........and they don't wear pads
@oJKBo true that, but lets see them run for 80 minutes!! its horses for courses, modern rugby players have to be better all round athletes than a linesman! you cant really compare the two, but we can agree on one thing, i wouldnt want to piss off either on a night out!!
Thats funny becoz these guys are International rugby players from New Zealand and they would put 100 points on your international rugby players from United States so when put into relavent terms these guys are the Lebron James of what they do.
You wouldn't want to do it bare foot, your feet will need some kind of support. And you do not even need those kind of shoes, you can do it in any kind of shoes.
@sas251981 the shoes are actually very similar to rock climbing shoes. where the sole of the shoe is very sticky so you dont slip and slide, and are very flexible. you could get some cheap ones for around 30 bucks.

Jude2Mahoney 1 year ago
@culchie1982 I'm not giving you my name, it's inappropriate to disclose details about players you have worked intimately with and it's a really bad reflection on the other S and C staff too. Look I don't care, I just think there's massive room for improvement in the area in rugby generally. The New Zealanders seem to be ahead of the game from what I understand which may explain why they're the dominant force in union currently.
NFL and rugby are apples and oranges.

They're considered big and strong by any standards, some rugby players weigh as much as 135kg. Not bad for guys who have to run for 80 minutes.
culchie1982 1 year ago 32
@culchie1982 But those big dudes dont run the whole time.
HardcoreDancr 1 year ago
I suppose you're comparing them to your elite Linemen in AF who are so fat they couldn't walk the length of themselves without collapsing and dieing of cardiac arrest. Linemen apart, rugby players are similiar in size to any of your American football players.....but remember one thing, they run for 80 minutes also.
culchie1982 1 year ago 52
@culchie1982 Are you talking about defensive or offensive lineman? Defensive lineman, especially DEs, and offensive lineman, especially Tackles, are often the best mix of power/strength on the field. They are *much* more powerful than your average rugby player. But you are right, they have a different type of endurance than rugby players - not better or worse.
TKMSeznam12 1 year ago
@culchie1982 I live in
Australia and have been playing rugby for about 5 years now and am an avid supporter of the game, but if you look at someone like ray lewis in the NFL, im still pretty sure he'd kill it in rugby
otoolej11 1 year ago
@otoolej11 No doubt he'd do well in rugby but I don't see the big deal with Ray Lewis. Sure he hits hard but rugby will always have the hardest hitter in both games which is Jonah Lomu. It's all about weight x speed, Jonah weighed at 275lbs (125 kgs) and ran as fast as most NFL running backs.

@culchie1982 Tim Timbow is a QB at 240lb and 6'4.

BadNeighbour 1 year ago
@BadNeighbour I don't give a fuck, he'll probably keel over in his 50s from a myocardial infarction, due to his crap aerobic capacity. Rugby players are streets ahead in terms of toughness as well, check out a guy called Wayne Buck Shelford, from NZ. He once played on with a lacerated scrotum- now that's toughness.
culchie1982 1 year ago 2
@BadNeighbour Jonah Lomu was a winger at 275lb and 6'5.

@1to3456 matt banahan is 6ft 7 and 270 pounds, he plays outside centre or winger
tomodonnell3 11 months ago
@culchie1982 Mate most of the NFL guys are faster, stronger and therefore more powerful than any rugby guys. You will not find athletes like Brian Cushing in rugby. Their physical capabilities are dictated by the nature of both games (and their difference in work ethics - lack of it in many rugby players). They are however, not as aerobically fit.
Austin333 1 year ago
@Austin333 Why are you telling me something I already know? Rugby requires more endurance, therefore the guys are that bit smaller, but not that much smaller! Lomu was 120kg, 6ft 5 and could run a 100 in under 11 seconds, Pierre Spies, Sonny Bill Williams would be in the same category.
Rugby players can weigh anything from 85kg up to 140kg. Now imagine if they were paying a Sport where each play only lasted 6 seconds like AF - Imagine how big they would be!
culchie1982 1 year ago
@culchie1982 Lomu was that size but I can almost guarantee he was as weak as piss. I also doubt any 'timed' 100 m that rugby players claim, they're often hand timed and done when they were significantly lighter. Spies is exactly what a professional rugby player should be like and would likely go really well in the NFL, I agree with you. My point is rugby as a whole is still very unprofessional whereas the NFL is the opposite.
I see these players daily, they are big, but weak and lazy.
Austin333 1 year ago
@Austin333 You're talking out of your ass. How can a man who weighs 120kg, and runs as fast as he could, be described as "weak as piss"? It's sheer unadulterated power.
You seem to idolize AF players, players who run for no more than 6 seconds at a time.....yes SIX fuckin seconds! The majority of linemen are morbidly obese, and a fair percentage die at an early age because of cardiovascular disease. Some athletes alright!
And in terms of toughness Rugby and AF aren't even in the same park.
culchie1982 1 year ago
@culchie1982 Weak in the gym. Jonah would not have the same impact now as he did then, he looked so good because players were (and some still are) piss weak and smaller. I don't idolize AF players, I'm a rugby player. I just think generally AFs are physically superior to rugby players purely due to the lack of professionalism in rugby. Note I didn't say all, some rugby players are incredible athletes (think mostly southern hemisphere.
Also, seen many pro rugby players body fats? Not lean.
Austin333 1 year ago
@Austin333 Rugby is 100% professional in case you didn't notice. The difference in body sizes is down to the fact that Rugby has a bigger aerobic component that AF, it's nothing to do with the fact that Rugby players train any less harder than AF players. They're just conditioned in a different way.
culchie1982 1 year ago
@culchie1982 I've worked at professional rugby clubs, trust me, it may be professional on paper but it is not yet a professional game. Not all of the players are lazy, but unfortunately the majority are. When a back rows bodyfat is 20% + it is not due to the 'bigger aerobic component' in rugby. Not to mention the strength and conditioning coaches are as a whole a long way behind the guys in the USA and even the New Zealanders from what I understand.
Austin333 1 year ago
@Austin333 So what professional Rugby clubs have you worked at and what exactly was your role?
culchie1982 1 year ago
@culchie1982 I'm not disclosing which clubs because it's not appropriate but they are both top premiership teams (won both heineken and premiership titles). I worked in the fitness teams at both. Just go and look at the players in real life, there's a world of difference between where most are physically and where they should be.
Austin333 1 year ago
@Austin333 Rugby players work so hard on their conditioning! They spend so many hours on the field and in the weight rooms getting ready for games. I have one professional pre season under my belt and I'm currently in my first pro season and I can guarantee that you're mistaken. Players aren't allowed to be fat! You get put in "fat club" and get slaughtered until you're slim enough. Also, it's a bit sad if you're an S & C coach and you're bitching about your players physiques on youtube.
superboy90345 1 year ago
@superboy90345 Depends on what club you're at, which country you're in. I'm in no position to change anything yet.
Austin333 1 year ago
@Austin333 20% body fat try 30% body fat alot of AF players are dieing because of their poor conditioning. you should know that an increase in anaerobic decreases aerobic ability. A true rugby player knows its not the dog in the fight its the fight in the dog!!!!!!! and thats the difference
irimanan27 1 year ago
@Austin333 You are so full of shit lol NFL players are worthless. They are out of breath after each play and have so much downtime its sad.
TheoryBodyBoarding 1 year ago 2
@Austin333 Polynesians on average are the biggest, strongest athletes in the world - they have a higher bone density, and muscle mass than African Americans. They dominate Rugby and If they got into American Football, I've no doubt they would dominate it as well.
culchie1982 1 year ago
@culchie1982 I kind of agree, they generally lack any kind of real work ethic and I'm not convinced they are really physically superior to african americans.
Austin333 1 year ago
@Austin333 dude there isnt a single player in NFL that is, faster and stronger than the players in rugby, apart from possibly running backs and tight ends, most of them are either faster or stronger, due to the specialist nature of AF. Also what is all this bull shit about how professional AF is compared to rugby, do you have any idea how much AF players end up making a carer out of the game, a FAR smaller percentage than rugby. Serious dude, do you even know what your talking about at all?

WEIGHT MEANS NOTHING you stupid FOOTBALL WORSHIPPER ! i fart in your general direction you dick GUZZLING TUMOUR GO WANK TO NFL you Ricket
SUPERNYAGA 1 year ago 19
@SUPERNYAGA My point was all players should be as conditioned and as strong as Spies. The fact is generally NFL players are stronger, bigger and faster than rugby players (comparing appropriate positions). This is purely due to the metabolic demands of each sport. Rugby players would defecate on them in any aerobic based tests and in all probability any repeated lactate inducing exercise too.
I am not an NFL fan. Height has nothing to do with training so is irrelevant.
Austin333 1 year ago
@SUPERNYAGA Holy shit dude knot bash other sports just because you dont like them. yes rugby guys are better at endurance and long term physicality, but NFL players are usually stronger and bigger. again your right about weight meaning anything, but your wrong about steroids, 85% of NFL players dont use them you also need to get your facts right because i play both sports and i know what it takes to do both you are right about some things but wrong about alot.
