I use a Nettop PC and the load more option helped a lot. Before I couldn't watch videos on the channel page because it would lag my system. Once they implemented that feature everything worked perfect.

I finally found out why YT did this. I was on YouTube Help, and one of the workers said this: Previously, it was difficult for you guys to load the playlist on channels with a large numbers of videos. Loading playlists with hundreds or thousands of videos could result in significant lag, and the "Load More" button is a way to make these requests to fetch more videos less overwhelming.

It's to save them bandwidth. If someone has 500 videos that's 500 images for every single person that views the channel. So if a channel gets a thousand views a day that's easily a gig saved on each channel like this. To be honest it seems a little stupid when they serve so much data regardless but there you go, a reason.

On the first issue...It could have been because of the size of the scroller. If you wanted to find a video from three weeks ago, for example, if you ticked the scroller a little bit, and said YouTuber has a plethora of uploaded videos, then it could pose a problem for those people. However, when looking in the big picture, I will agree that they should not have changed that.
