This scene in The Wire is not realistic. In real life Omar would have been shot to death. Its almost like he is some superhero (his coat resembles Batman) jumping out of a building to saftety. This scene is way to "Hollywood" for me. AS much as you may dislike Marlo Stanfield and his organization, AS MUCH AS you may have wanted to see him die at the end of the tv series, That's not how real life works. The bad guys don't always lose.

You could see that they were closing in on him. All their aims were in effect..so how Omar was able to reveal himself by running to the window and not get hit by at least ONE of the three is beyond me. Also, the fact that he left that spot on the ground so quick with a smashed leg was also too strange.

I just can't see hitters like Chris and Snoop letting the guy run out the room like that, especially the way they were blazing on the couch. but the overall point was that it was a foolish move by omar to go in there. he should have played it like the savino hit and kept everything out on the street where marlo/chris can't track him or monitor his movements. they used monk as bait and omar fell for it.

@mufc, you've touched on two character who had no ethical code and no friends they couldn't dispose of. stringer turned informer on avon and had little man killed on top of the shootout on omar's grandmother. marlo did butch, hungry man and took out prop joe (a mentor, albeit a scheming one). omar drew lines so he could stay sane, but once he was motivated by revenge he became just as ruthless as stringer or marlo (not quite, but you get the picture).

no doubt, it's just that the game is full of people like this - in fact, they are the ones who often make it to the top. i'm just saying that omar was a guy who seemingly exercised poor judgement at times. on both of the aforementioned occasions, he was out smarted by stringer and marlo because he had become blinded by anger and revenge. for me, he's the best character in the show, but i do think he did well to last as long as he did being so naive and recklessly impulsive.
