As I heard once from my choral director: "Beethoven treats choirs like cannon fodder!" but still, this song is always sublime, both to sing and to hear! Great work.
Oh, it made me see our Lord Jesus Christ exalted above all human genius!! He is the very essence of Beethoven's music..... Christ, the Lord of glory, our Hope of eternal life, with Beethoven I say, "Et Vitam venturi saeculi amen!" (I wait for the Life of the world to come!)
I have sampled several other presentations of this work here on You Tube and none compare to this. It is just perfect in my opinion. I would love to have this recording but don't know how to obtain or save it from this video.
This probably one of the best renditions of this work. It is breath taking ... I could listen to it forever and never tire. Amazing performance. Thanks to the person who posted it. LOVE IT!!!
God the precision and dynamic flow of the bass section...I wish we had that control in the choir I'm in. This was much faster than we did it as well, I must say I like it better like this
Thanks so much for uploading this video -- brought back to many memories of singing it with our church choir. I agree with the others, love this version. Very majestic. Thanks for cheering up my day! :-)
It is a wonderful chorus. It was impressed very much.
This tune was sung 23 years ago while I was attending school to the music high school. The friend who had sung together died suddenly in the subarachnoid hemorrhage last week. She in the high school student age is recalled, and tears do not stop when listening to this chorus.
I remember performing this song in my sophomore year of high school. It was my absolute favorite!! I do believe we went on to perform this in our county chorus...
we went over this and went over this and I prayed that when we finally sung it we would do well. Let's just say God hears and answers prayers. They shouted when we finished. Mostly it was the chior that got happy.
it gave me chills. our 9th and 10th grade choir is singing this song but were no where near this big! i love the huge sound when you start singing.. its amazing.
HOW MAJESTIC...this song shows the real personality of Beethoven in my point of view....majestic and revolutionary...diz song is one of the best ever!!!!
this song is soo powerful...i luv beethoven..but his vocal writin and fugal writin sux..but his instrumental music is awesome...but this song is wonderful..the powr behind the choir..man.
Excellent video. The timpani is too loud though. It is drowning the choir and orchestra. I'm not sure I am right, but I think it is the fault of the microphone and not of the musician.
u actually are right...they might hv exaggerated it a bit bcz beethoven is more of like the "lots of POWER" guy...but i can also say diz song is one of the most awesome and difficult pieces ever written
I know, wise guy. What I meant is kudos for sticking to the standard English words and not trying to be politically correct by changing "Man, proclaim his grace and glory" to something clumsy to placate feminazis.
Well you know what sucks? Having to memorize both the original english translation and some newer, stupid one. For Vocal Ensemble we're doing the original translation, but for All-State we're doing the other one. DX
wow. that's a lot of people. so powerful. we're singing this is my 45 person advanced choir at my school. our director is always telling us we need to all be about 7 people each.

???The Maestoso (66) beginning is too slow, but the Allegro(88) is way too fast!
Who was dropping what at this performance?
What a mess!

Very dramatic, although could have used a little more brass. Kudos for sticking to the original words.
Crusadist1099 4 years ago
Those aren't the original words, because Beethoven wrote it in German.
