@MuscleManDaniel I actually liked the new Star Trek movie. It's not a prequel or a sequel, it's just a fun, action-packed movie. It wasn't trying to be bigger than it was, unlike the failure that was the TNG movies, all of them, even the one w/ Kirk. Q is explained as an omnipotent being, millions, possibly billions of yrs old, whose existence is beyond our comprehension. I think that's smart, so that they wouldn't have to give us an explanation. John DeLancie, Q, aged, he couldn't help it.

In the series, Picard is seen as a calm and intellectual guy, who only resorted to violence, as a last resort, he even tried to stop Starfleet from wiping out all of the Borg, b/c, he recognized there right to exist, just like you or I. But in the movies, he was some action hero, who always had one hand in the trigger.

That was pretty smart on JJ Abram's part. And it didn't try to be more than it wasn't, we all expected this movie to be what it turned out to be, a fun, sci-fi adventure film, full of action packed scenes, and that's why it was accepted by so many Star Trek fans.

Did you even watch the movie? If they made a regular Star Trek movie, it wouldn't of sold out in the box office, like the new ST movie did. Yes ST has millions of fans, but not enough to make a difference in the box office. If you don't like it, I suggest you make your own movie, and see if it's any better.
