when marijuana is purple it is mostly due to the genetic make up of the plant, however if your plant is subjected to lower temperatures (in the area of 8-13 degrees celcius) during the "dark" stage this may bring out purple and redish colours and tones.yet this does not guarantee when it comes to harvest that your "colas" a.k.a "buds" will be purple...

Also been growing a lebanese, leb27 danish land-race (grown in Denmark in 32 years ;) ) wich turns up all purple in the danish autumn where temperatures drop down under 10 at night in late flowering. Depending of weather you can have completely purple plants just because of the cold. Won't turn up purple indoor or in more hot climate.
Hey all. That sort has purple stems and buds in the genetics, and it's not needing anything. Not finished but turned up to some great smoke. Too bad, busted by the police with it :(
If thats what you like man, if your growing urself and want purp bud let the temp at night hit about 8cel and they will display red and purple trait and they won't be too stumped, low temps can also increase resin by making your plant more hardy. You can also bend and twist your stems which turns them red, just like how panama red is made. twisting stems until them give increase the resin content of the buds.look it up its cool dude.
Yes it actually does, most indica strains will display red and purple stems with low temps, this is also found in the genetics of some plants known as purple strains e.g Purple Power Plant. But believe me low temps will change colour. Why would everyone be freezing their plants? People don't like to buy purple weed
Lol, some cannabis strain have color when they are in their optimal temperature condition. Cannabis like cold temp, a lot of cannabis strain are gonna get color that way. This one is not in the end of its flowering stage, so if the leaves bases are purple or red AND the buds starts looking that way : that plant gonna be collored.

twisting stems doesnt increase resin. That is a myth. The resin doesnt move around.

That looks like it due to low nigh temps to me.
Could also just be genetics.
Those buds are purp also, so I am leaning toward a sudden temp drop.
