Hey i don't have bf2 i have played it some times at my friends though and I'm pretty sure the "smoke" coming off the wings is supposed to be condensation which forms in real life when you hit the thrusters(afterburners).

Frag the reason BF2 doesn't have a lot of the planes and stuff is because the creators hurried in the making of the game,i must admit theres some pretty cool stuff in the game but a lot of the flying and planes just suck good old battlefield 1942 desert combat,desert combat final,desert combat extended and desert combat final extended(my personal favorite combines toys of dcx and detail of dcf) is just as good as BF2 and the battlefield 2 forgotten hope
