The entire tax structure and subsidies to the market for home mortgages has for decades encouraged speculation in the real estate market for housing making housing less not more affordable. America must adopt policies to accomplish the unthinkable: home ownership without the possibility of cashing in on increasing land values, i.e. home ownership for use, not for profit. Ironically this is done by eliminating all subsidies and taxing land values so that speculators are forced to go elsewhere.
