this almost sounds like it would be about arthurs parents...

although, it could also be interpretted as merlin as a young man as the lady of the lake is the one who gave arthur his sword and merlin was his best friend...

i also havent studied arthurian legends for a really long time so this is all just opinion

It says on Heather Dale's website that the song is about Merlin, when he was young and fell in love with The Lady Of The Lake. It's one of my favorites of hers.

I'm not quite sure but I read a book about the Lady of The Lake's past and it stated that she was a priestess princess and merlin's mother and merlin's father was a powerful druid who could see the future and died when merlin was just a baby. the way that they(merlin's parents met) makes me feel that the song is about them i forgot the name of the book and the name of the lady and her husband also since i read it quite a few years ago

@Morganaelhada I actually think this song is about Merlin and Nimueh/Vivian (depending on which version of arthurian legend you read, the Lady of the Lake's name changes).
