Recycling IS important. It goes much much more energy to make new glass, metal, paper, plastic etc. Then it would use by recycling. an example: Recycled glass use only 5-10% energy then it would needed to make new glass. Wich also makes it cheaper. Re-using is so easy.(sorry for my bad english). Ther are many good sides by beeing enviroment frendly. Infact, its cheaper! By saving energy, you save money! Start thinking!
Recycling plastic, paper, tin, buncha other stuff is already law here. We've been recycling for years. You recycle? How about making your house more energy efficient? Solar panelling the outside of your place? Getting solar power battery recharger rather than buying batteries. Not using a really old car that burns a lot more fuel then the exact same model with less useage. Good start but you seem to be somewhat limited.

Recycling is for the most part economically inefficient thats why it has to be subsidized. It won't save the Earth, just waste a bit of money until we run out of resources, then we just go did threw our trash piles and find stuff to reuse.

I gladly do all these. I especially like the reduce and reuse approach. My old Ford Aspire still gets 40mpg. I used to live in Portland, Oregon and the people there are great teachers of what you kindly state here. Once you start living right it becomes habit and is actually a much easier life to live. in 2000 most industrialized nations signed a pact to cut ozone emissions by half in 10 years or so. By last year every country has been successful at it and reduced emissions by average 30% except the US. Ours actually went up.

The last one are friends of mind that started an eco-village in northest missouri. They have a minute carbon output, if any at all, and they have a living standard close to the average working class family. They are an excellent source of ideas -- and inspriration. Besides that there are tons of other detailed resources on the net on how to combat warming.
I've heard people talking about the importance of closing the carbon loop, rather than reducing emissions per se. What we need to do is stop pumping oil out of the ground as it just adds to the total carbon. If we cease oil production and consumption, we can close the carbon loop again and the system will regain equilibrium.
Ian, I applaude your plea to the youtube community regarding the environment. But, the issue is so much deeper, immense and complex than your video reflects. Citing recycling is pointless. It was the hot message 15 to 20 years ago, but the situation is far different today. Our problem today is CO2 emmissons contributing to Global Warming. Focus on that.

The most significant single thing that every individual can do to reduce his or her environmental impact is to eat a plant-based diet. Modern animal agribusiness is the greatest source of pollution BY FAR. Read "Diet For A New America" by John Robbins, a book that has transformed many people. You can also research the diet-environment connection on the Internet.
Plant-based diets also contribute to pollution. The agricultural industry uses pesticides and GMMOs and they rob the earth of its nutrients because they are just out to make a profit. I am not raggin' on veganism it is good for other reasons- but there are also serious problems with the way agriculture is being conducted.

Recycling IS important. It goes much much more energy to make new glass, metal, paper, plastic etc. Then it would use by recycling. an example: Recycled glass use only 5-10% energy then it would needed to make new glass. Wich also makes it cheaper. Re-using is so easy.(sorry for my bad english). Ther are many good sides by beeing enviroment frendly. Infact, its cheaper! By saving energy, you save money! Start thinking!

Recycling plastic, paper, tin, buncha other stuff is already law here. We've been recycling for years. You recycle? How about making your house more energy efficient? Solar panelling the outside of your place? Getting solar power battery recharger rather than buying batteries. Not using a really old car that burns a lot more fuel then the exact same model with less useage. Good start but you seem to be somewhat limited.

I gladly do all these. I especially like the reduce and reuse approach. My old Ford Aspire still gets 40mpg. I used to live in Portland, Oregon and the people there are great teachers of what you kindly state here. Once you start living right it becomes habit and is actually a much easier life to live. CO2 is NOT a pollutant. It is a trace gas that is necessary for life to exist on earth. Without CO2 most life would die. That is the problem with this whole debate. I've heard people talking about the importance of closing the carbon loop, rather than reducing emissions per se. What we need to do is stop pumping oil out of the ground as it just adds to the total carbon. If we cease oil production and consumption, we can close the carbon loop again and the system will regain equilibrium.
