@PastNorwegianBlue the chord sounding at 1:50 was a crunch chord: B-flat in the tubas, everyone else picks a note. the next chord cued is B-flat minor (1:54). the only third of that chord is in the 1st baritones, and mellos don't play. the mellos are cued in on the minor 9th, C-flat or B-natural, at 1:56, then resolve down to B-flat at 2:01 (those are all concert pitch).

@Lightrix13 None of the corps ahead of us played Mahler, Elgar, Marquez, and Khachaturian. They played power chords and out-of-tune extensions. Now I'm not saying the corps is gonna be awesome this year (although who knows), but if you take one serious look at the repertoire, you'll see that there was a HELL of a lot more than "1, 3, and 5 chords." Go grab your Mahler scores, and have a closer look.

They're focusing on trying to be innovative, which is how you get ahead in this activity, which also explains why you guys arent where you want to be. Just because you played Mahler doesn't mean you can get big headed. And the so called "out of tune extensions" are alot more challenging to play than the chords you all play. The judges know this, which explains why you got what you did in brass

I am not saying corps with less dense books play them in tune.) P.S. check out the G7b9b13 chord that's ALL OVER the book
