  • "Overwrought and unnecessary" - AMEN! A-FREAKIN-MEN!!!!!!!!!! Oh shit me down, the writing in 'Shatter Me' was interesting and effective for perhaps the first chapter, and then very quickly made me want to scratch at the pages and find a way to make Juliette's inner monologues stop. Oh boy..... the writing style was simply too much.

  • Meaghan, I respect you and your opinions to the utmost degree, and being myself someone who often makes negative reviews and who almost always seems to dislike books that others love (not a conscious choice, I promise!) I cop a lot of backlash for my opinions.

At the end of the day we HAVE to be content in and proud of our opinions and responses to what we read, even if it means alienating ourselves from some viewers and fellow readers who disagree. We can only respond truthfully for ourselves

  • @MeaghanTheBookAddict yeahh, same here. There are so many books I've put to the side because I just can't bring myself to read them. Shatter Me irritated me in the beginning, it was boring and I couldn't get into it, but I made myself finish it. It got way better, but the ending was kinda terrible, well not terrible, but bad. I didn't like the ending. /: I think it's supposed to be a series, but I don't know if I'm going to check out the other books or not. /:

  • I'm reading a lot of goodreads reviews lately to see if I can identify things people complain about the book that would drive me crazy too... I've ruled out Shatter Me because of a review that talked about how something crucial was not explained (regarding the power of the girl not affecting the guy). That would drive me nuts.

  • You know, when books I thought I would like disappoint me, I try going for genres I never read before. I love YA books the best, but there so many of them these days that makes you mad.

  • Great video Meaghan I feel that way about a lot of books but over the years i've developed a pretty good system in picking out the stinkers.

  • @Sonythebooklover yeah I know what I hate... I just can't resist seeing if i'm write about certain books though

  • blood red road was really good.

  • @kimberlyssy I got that on my Kindle.... but I think I deleted it... I hope not though lol

  • I didn't like Daughter of Smoke and Bone either. The first half was really good but when the romance started, I just lost interest. :(

  • @VanillaTwilight346 right. :/ I was kinda sad 'cause it was turning into something really great!

  • TOTALLY agree with you on Shatter Me

  • @thefantasyfangirl it was soooooo bad :/

  • Nice to hear your opinion! Wish more booktubers would do book reviews on books that they aren't really crazy about. I loved the Iron Fey series though! :)

  • @yafictionfreaks I did tooo :(

  • I am a little confuddled. :) You lost interest in Daughter of Smoke and Bone when the romance plot took over, but you have a secret love for romance novels. Is there more of a non-romance plot in them, than there is in Smoke and Bones? Not meaning to sound like a jerk if I am. I'm just curious. It seems like many readers prefer pn books to have less romance. What are the differences in romance and paranormal with romance that make romance more tolerable? Also, I'm glad you're still here. :)

  • @WiggleSquiggle76 lol yeah I understand how that might be confusing. Basically for me if it's not a romance novel romance should be used to enhance the plot and not take it over the the determent of plot development. There was all this build up in DoSB that went nowhere because the romance ( that wasn't really compelling either) was introduced.

  • @MeaghanTheBookAddict Alrighty. That makes sense. Thank you very much. :)

  • I am a terribly picky reader. I like that you're able to pinpoint just why some things don't appeal to you.

Also, Love your earrings! :) Only comment on the visual aspect is that I wish you could tilt the camera a tad, so as to get your whole head in the shot.

  • @faerietaleredux oh sure! I I never get the camera positioning right lol I'll try to fix it for next time :)

  • You should have finished Shatter Me, it got way better. I didn't like it in the beginning either, but i made myself read it, and I loved it. <3

  • @xxAquaAriesxx eeeh ... I hate to leave books hanging like that but I don't think I can finish it :/

  • The Help didn't work for me either. I talked about that on my blog. Thanks for your explanations!

  • @frenchiedee np :)
