  • Does anyone know where I can find this version of Perfect? The album version is great, but it isn't acoustic. I've probably watched this video a dozen times just to listen to this version.

  • SW is my alltime favorite band, and i regret discovering them just 2 months before their split. I'm not much of a fan of The Dreaming but I'll listen to them just to hear Chris' voice. And as far as the self-title's sound being different, it's because SW left Columbia records and went on to the now defunct KOCH Records. New label meant a new sound and it has a bunch of good songs on it like Happy, So Far Away, and Wasted. This song was written about the band growing apart over the years.

  • Chris simply breaks away from the mainstream audience by making each album very different. I wouldn't expect a new The Dreaming album to sound like the first. Just like if SW came back, I wouldn't expect it to sound like anything they've done. There's a little something for everyone, but I personally like it all. He hasn't done wrong in my mind with every song he wrote.

  • i want that clan of xymox shirt :D

  • one of my fav bands ty

  • i love this song, thanx for posting it :)

  • 1. WBB+P

    2. Ungod

    3. Darkest Days

I haven't heard much off of the self-titled, but what I have heard I wouldn't want to listen to more than once.

To me, SW was completely unique and one of the most incredible out there. From what I remember, they fell apart because Chris Hall didn't like that his music was being associated with such "dark people," goths and what not, so they changed and sucked.

  • @idontcare80 Ive always known about SW since they first came about..but havent listened to all their material until just a few days ago..been listening to them nonstop..fell in love. Came to discover several songs Ive heard on the radio were by SW and had no clue. Their first 3 CDs I love, but the one with the face with bleeding make-up, so far all the songs Ive heard off it..tho the lyrics are good..they just changed so drastically..even the way they present themselves..self out in my opinion.

  • @idontcare80 I dont understand why Hall would care if his music was associated with "dark people", that in itself sounds very close-minded. And frankly..in their earlier days they presented themselves in a dark manner..as far as appearance and the lyrics and music itself..dark industrial/goth hard rock. It's relatively depressing music..in the same category as NIN, My Dying Bride, etc. Idk..dissapointed in how they changed definatly. But I fucking love their earlier material..videos too. Justsad

  • @idontcare80 that I didn't get into them in the 90s so I could have seen them live. Fuck, I miss the 90s so much. SO many great bands came about in that decade. Almost all music today is crap. Very few good bands still going. If you, or anyone that reads this for that matter enjoy SW's first few albums, check out Katatonia..you just might love them. As well as My Dying Bride, Sentenced, Mushroomhead, possibly Orgy...and theres so many more but my itunes wont pop up and Im quite sedated. But if

  • @idontcare80 anyone whom loves Ungod, Burn Blister Peel (i know i said it wrong lol), and the following 1 or 2 albums by them and would be interested in listening to other groups that are similar lyrically and some musically in a few different aspects..please feel free to send me a message and I'd be more than happy to recommend some bands. Not to sound cocky by any means, but I personally, and quite literally everyone I know had said that my musical taste is pretty damn excellent. Would love to

  • @idontcare80 spread the word about some other bands you just might really get into. And as far as what Im talking about recommending, I mean in reference to SW songs such as Why, Drugstore, Shame, Save Yourself, Sleep..hell it really depends on the band for real..They each have their own vibes. But I've posted a lot lol, so I'll stop. Peace out fellow SW fans, and be safe out there with w/e..driving, drugs, etc. Enjoy life, try not to be depressed cuz we've just got one & regrets destroy u.Peace

  • aww... this song have been heard when i was in high school. i bought the cassete :)

  • I do not miss CRTs at all.

  • good song!

  • The exact riff, has to be a ripoff.

  • This song was released between 1993 and 1995... Knife Party came out in the 2000's... idiot.

  • while arguing on the intardweb is pointless. it's still going to happen. while there's slight similarities to Knife Party and this track. it's not in the same key nor even same time signature. also, there's nothing really totally unique about music these days...so i mean, you can probably sit there and compare it to about 10,000 other songs that it may be similar to....but is there really a point to it? no. if you like it. cool. if not. cool. just don't listen to it then.

  • Who's the idiot?

What album was this "released" on in the 90's. I know it was on the self titled 2001 album- SO your saying they re-released it?

  • Do yer homework xaxy!

  • Arguing on the Internet is like running in the Special Olympics - even if you win, you're still retarded.

  • I agree

  • OK this song sounds quite similar to that song, but there are other songs that they wrote themselves that are like nothing else ever written before. ask me if u'd like examples. naysayers piss off

and like none of these songs ever got the respect or popularity they deserved anyway. hardly anybody in the world knows they exist. so chill

  • this was my first concert in 1996 w god lives underwater, dd tour. sw was a great great band.

  • wow this sounds like the exact riff in "knife party" by Deftones. Which came first?

  • this song came first

  • i lied.. other way around.. by a year

  • Yeah I looked it up. White Pony was June 2000 and Stabbing Westward was mid 2001. I don't think they stole it...It's like the adadge "Great minds think alike". Both good songs.

  • Stabbing Westward broke up in mid 2001, but the song dates to the mid 90's.

  • This song matches 'perfect' on me

  • Didn't realize they had a video for this song. Seems like an acoustic version, not on the CD. Thanks for the post. I agree with others that heavier/darker SW is better, but this disc does have some great tracks like "Breathe You In" and "So Far Away".

  • yea, man, and hav u heard the bonus song "Last Time" from the japanese release of that album? another amazing song!

  • the album was so different because when KOCH picked them up after sony dropped em...KOCH tried turning their image and sound into a "Goo Goo Dolls" clone (and thats straight from chris' mouth)...Chris was never happy with this album...and he only wrote 3 of the songs on it...the entire album was SUPPOSED to be a follow up to darkest days...most of those unused songs chris wrote were brought over and had music put to them when he and johnny started The Dreaming (puppet, solo crucifxion, burn etc)

  • i prefer the heavier darker side of SW ....

  • This albums it's so different.

  • Chris looks really good in this video!

  • my favourite band of all time..

  • god we used to be perfect...

  • This has got to be the band with the greatest discrepancy of all time between their music and their videos.

Love the tunes...videos are all pretty bad.

  • I thought that the vid for Sometimes It Hurts was pretty cool...

  • did they make an acoustic album i dont know about? someone else on here has an acoustic version of "wasted"

  • yea i heard that too, but if there is an acoustic album with these songs, its probably not all that good because the versions of both of those songs are much better on Stabbing Westward's self-titled album. the acoustic version of "Wasted" sucks. and the other version of this song is much better too

  • nothing by stabwwest sucks, dude. nothing.

  • i didnt really mean full-on "sucks". that was actually a while ago when i said that. i'v listened to a lot more of SW's stuff and they'r now like one of my fav bands. now that i think of it, Wasted acoustic isnt really too bad

  • i love the video description. lol "rerfect" :P

good song though. i've loved this band for years XD

  • o and THIS song: ok first of all, this is not the real version of this song (or at least not the best) and this doesnt look like a music video at all. just studio recording. and yes, the better version of this song IS from the album i was talking about, Stabbing westward's self-titled album.

  • u know, u should all hear that album. its a good album. tho, the only song from that they made a video for was "So Far Away". that song is OK, but there's MUCH better songs by Stabbing Westward that they should'v made videos for.

  • scarecrow, if u think this version of this song is good, u should hear the album version. its from this bands self-titled and latest album. and also their greatest album. u should listen to that album. i know that listening music that relates to things that hav happened in life REALLY helps coping with those problems. so i'd recomend listening to other songs from Stabbing Westward's self-titled album

  • My ex-wife and I were "Perfect". this song came out as she coolly asked for a divorce. It tore my world apart back then. I still think of it every time I hear this song.

On of the best bands evah!

  • man that sucks. hopefully you've found your "perfect" match now, eh?

  • SW rocks. Their songs are awesome.

  • perfect song for my time

  • Best break-up song ever. And the saddest.

  • omg, this song gives me CHILLS... :-) !!! The acoustic guitar makes it feel like he's singing into the hollow of the love that once was... my God, how poignantly beautiful :-)

  • hope you got to see this band live. i saw them 5 or 6 times and they put on the best show. both opening for depeche mode and small clubs. the lead singer has a new band called the dreaming, album out in oct. i think.

  • sounds AMAZING, man :-D Depeche Mode?? Omg, totally classic 80s.. :-)

Ure a lucky person to have seen them live- I can tell by this very performance that they definitely have something to offer... ;-D I need to find out about their album in Oct., btw... :-D !!!

  • How beautiful is that!??!! *sigh*

Exquisite, as far as I'm concerned...!! :*)

  • This song touched me. My ex gf and I were "perfect" for the first 3 months then I gradually destroyed things. The video itself did not bother me but the song was hard to take. Stabbing Westward is fast becoming one of my favorite bands.

  • We used to be perfect before you decided to screw things up and cheat!

  • I managed to download The Ungod their first Album it was hard to find its so kickin :) One of my Fav Still is and will be...........

  • ungod wasn't as heavily promoted by sony as WBB+P was. wasn't as "polished" sounding either. to this day, i think it was their best album...darkest days is 2nd...wither, blister... is 3rd and the last album...while decent comes dead last. of course, that's what happens when you use a producer that normally does brit-pop bands. (not that i don't dig on brit-pop...)

  • agree, I think Ungod is by far the best album.

  • honestly a huge fan of the deftones and stabbing westward and hadn't even noticed the similarites between this and knife party. weird.

at the end of the day though, stabbing westward has and always will be my favorite band as much as i love the deftones.

    1. darkest days.

    2. self-titled.

    3. wbbp.

    4. ungod.

actually fuck that, they're all number one.

heres to hoping chris fucks off with the emo and quits "dreaming" and realizes SW means so much more to so many people..

  • @twistedviewlabs okay. 1. darkest days 2. self titled. 3. wbb+p 4. ungod.

but opinions are bullshit. every album, they're all equal. stabwest had albums for EVERY single emotional state. confusion (wpp+b), melancholy (dd), love (s/t), anger (wbb+p.)

that's why stabbing westward was the fucking best band of the 90s.

  • I agree, stabbing westward are one of the best bands ever, yet hardly anyone has ever heard of them!

  • it might have been because of how they were labeled a Nine Inch Nails rip-off (i guess i can see it...) even though in actuality...SW was around about 3 yrs prior to NiN.

@skrlxrs - well said. The Dreaming does suck out loud. Chris Hall needs to get over himself and get back with SW once and for all...they were and still are awesome!

  • Damn, is that him in the video? he's freakin HOT!!

  • how stunt are you

  • Stabbing Westward are the best and most underrated band ever. They could have and should have been huge.

  • *sighs* why cant things be like they used to be..

  • this song got me trough some bad times. i was staying in america but my girl was back in ireland. now i have been home since christmas and my head is fryed and mangled! just anoyed that she an't mine!

  • like who cares?

  • I saw them a couple times when they were in Boston, very awesome live shows!!

  • i used to like 'em a lot...the filming here is quite...free style...

  • i mizz S.W

  • yeah..chris..why???

  • Too bad The Dreaming sucks.

Too bad Chris revealed himself as an asshole.

    It used to be perfect.

  • HEYY ITS CHRIS AND HIS FIANCE

  • the fact that they broke up sucks monkey fuck

  • hey, that's chris with his fiance'!

  • hey...Christopher Hall and Makr Slaughter kind of look alike...hummm...

  • There are so many things we can say about "Stabbing Westward" but there aren't enough words to truely describe how they as a band touched us all. So thanks for posting this.

  • I talked to Chris and learned the real reason why they split. It's a real shame, but it was bound to happen no matter what level of success they enjoyed with their newer material. The new album was hardly great anyway. Their manager obviously tried to make the band have a rebirth with an altered image to suit the poppier rock songs on the album.

Still, Chris' new image in The Dreaming is a tad distressing. The guy used to actually look good, but now is more like an emo freakshow.

  • the new album had some really good songs. it's a real bummer they broke up. the dreaming just doesn't sound right to me :/

  • Not all "core fans" were too stubborn, my friends. Oh how I miss them :(

  • This was and still is the best band no matter what. Love thier songs

  • one of my fav bands... darkest days CD was my first one that i got, and i still listen to it, once they sing there is so much emotions goin on in my head and my heart, not about them but on the reflections of my life...

  • I've always loved them but I just recently started appreciated the last album.... oh how i miss them and wanna see em live!

  • I just found out about them from my friend Amanda. They're pretty good. Too bad it's already over by the time I find them. But they're music is still here, so it's all good.

  • their new direction was actually pretty damn good. core fans were just too stubborn.

  • i really miss them. most people had no clue who they was till they met me, i spread the love best i could, i cant see having lived without em!!!

  • I miss them so much. the dreaming is no stabbing westward and chris just isnt the same anymore.... sigh.

they were my fave band, still are. always listened to them 24/7. they got me thru the hardest parts of my life.... i was obsessed. im healthier now but... they was getting better at the pace i was, each album less obsessed and more healed same as i was, its like losing ur parent lol i swear it...

  • It's kind of ironic, this being the last video they made before they broke up. I really liked the way they were going with the unique sound of this album. It's too bad.

  • No perfect... WONDERFULL...
