It is definitely a day I will never forget. It is wonderful that this can be seen like this. I had it on VHS, but the tape didn't make it.

My 87 years old Grandmother travelled to San Clemente to attend President Nixon's funeral. She was very disappointed to have been turned away as uninvited. She returned the next day as one of the mourners that filed by his grave.

Just out of high school in the first election cycle after the adoption of The 26th Amendment, President Nixon was the first President that I ever voted for. I have never regretted it.

Thank you. I think it sad that the only thing the media can find to recall in reference to Nixon was Watergate. Although a Democrat, I actually liked Nixon, and am sorry that he apparently could never recover from this one indescretion. I haven't seen a Republican President since that could really match him. Had Watergate not occurred I can't help but think that others would have refered deference to Nixon rather than Reagan.

Here's something to think about. By foregoing the honor of a state funeral in Washington, which he deserved, Nixon instead chose to have the funeral at his library where he was born. BY doing this, he forced the political elite to finally come to him instead of the other way around. And presiding over his funeral was the sitting president(Clinton) who's wife had worked for the committee that voted to impeach him.

Nixon was a crafty man to the end.
