I meant to write that I went on craig s-list a few weeks ago. In any case all the birds I met were young adults who people bought at pet stores and realized the time commitment. You two are obviously pet people and animal lovers. If you haven't found your dream bird I suggest the route I went. All the birds being offered were under $150 for everything, they just wanted good homes. I have had my new bird for 2 weeks and LOVE her to pieces!
So fun visiting pet stores!! Did you end up finding a bird? I just went on a few weeks ago and posted what type of bird I was looking to adopt, that I needed to meet it, and that I was willing to pay a small rehoming fee. I had 8 responses in 2 days! I visited 3 cockatiels, a lorikeet, a parrotlet and a sun conure....ended up adopting the conure and his cage, toys etc for under $100.... many of the people who contacted me were in bird fostering programs and all the birds I met were fabulous!
Do not buy a bird from petsmart or petco. You need to go to a bird store that hand feeds them. They can give you more information and the birds are 100 times nicer. Please dont buy from a store that doesnt give their birds any hands on attention.
You should really do your homework about cockatiels. You act like a little kid, thinking getting a pet is all fun and games, Yeah they're great, but keep in mind, by bringing a cockatiel into the house, You are responsable for a little life.
@CutieElric This was exactly what the description said: A trip in search of information. We had no intentions of purchasing a cockatiel that day. We are already pet owners, and have owned birds previously: a lovebird, conure, and some finches. We know the responsibility that goes into owning pets, as I'm sure our cats would happily vouch for us if they could. :)
great video. :p I love going to the petshop. and because i cannot go to them often. your vidoe was a vurtual clear video of a petstore trip. ;) good luck with your cockatiel. and DO YOUR REASERCH most petstores try to sell you small cages. meaning to small for the bird oyur trying to buy. if this is not too late to inform you. ;)
I don't no if this will help you now, but usually breeders actually sell the cockatiels cheaper than stores. I got mine for $80 from a breeder, and i think at Petco and Petsmart they are in the 100's.
i hope u know thats these birds are very sociable birds they really will be better with a friend or partner
