People have the funniest comments on hear a swear! I'm like duh he should know his stuff he did go to school for it and Berkely at that, so yea if you want to play like this then go to school, but any way this vid is super old but, it's why JRaines is one of my favorite bass players.
This is really good. i thought i might start recording videos of freestyle by myself. so i looked it up to see what some people had done. found this and still think i might do it. but it wont be anywhere near this good :P
@bonesworld2 Yeah...I said that once in my life too...until I played one... then bought one... and soon buying another...I've played fenders, spectors, warwicks, all american or german made. None compared to this sound except a Roscoe.
@mobassplaya I had a really nice 635 once but didn't keep it long. It felt great though I just wasn't feeling the tone. My Elrick & Sadowsky Metro gave me more butter. I guess it's a matter of preference.
come on people,he plays just like every body else, how bad do you want the skill?do you take the time to practic are you sit on your ass and do nothing!this dude just was doing runs,he is average bass player i mean come on,lmao
@Quintbuddy5 i wasnt hateng on justing just was speaking the truth,i mean it take alot of pratice to get were this dude is at,im far from his skill level but i know that if i want toget there i got to work at it,im a truck driver and i practic 8 hrs a day!lol
when i watch this dude he looks like the humbliest bass players ever........this is why I watch him.......it;s like he;s reviving the ways how to play bass.....he;s da man!
wats a gud slap and pop bass. along with a nice groove sound to it when i do chording? do i have to have to separate basses or can i get one that has a mixture of both? rite now i have an ibanez sr505. anyone can help me out?
The only thing you should be worrying about is a bass that feels comfortable for you to play. You could make both sounds with one bass because it's you that makes the music, not the bass.
I am a far better bass player than this guy, as was shown when I played at a live concert in Central Park and it was televised on MTV.......well....... I thought so until my alarm clock woke me up. Damn dreams! Honestly though, if I was one tenth as good as this guy I would be really proud. It takes a genius to play like this but thank god it doesn't a take genius to appreciate such quality. You are immense my friend!
its sad... but it atlest gives me hope that i could be that good! dont worry buddy just keep working man you never know could be better them him one day!
dnt get discouraged.Just don't give up.Learn, research, listen, create, experiment, play with other people and pray. That's how they became annointed.Cmon!!!!
@Novice1984 - the only difference between Justin and you is several thousand hours of practice and playing. It only looks easy because he put in the time to get comfortable enough with the instrument that he can play without thinking about it. If you keep working at it, you'll get where you want to be. Keep your head up!
DMAMN MAN how do ppl like him do it. they are sooo fast man and they never make mistakes or anything.... Does anyone know how long hes been playing for
How are you to judge him? Maybe he is better than Justin? You can't judge until you at least hear the kid.
Why so much musical discrimination? We all speak music just in our own dialect. Remember That " An instrument on the ground makes no sound, The musician must bring the music to the instrument."

It's just called practice....people always putting religion into things that don't need to be in it. Bass isn't biasied I wouldn't count out a great bassist who happens to be satanist if he can groove and funk
I don't want to launch into this debate, but it is each to his own. I do not believe in religion/god or whatever so that's your own opinion. I believe with hard work and practice you can do anything!
Honky-Just joking, but seriously, and I am only assuming based off your screename, but you didn't grow up in one of these churches...either did I, but I understand why they feel that way. If that is what they believe, let them. I have never walked into a church that turned me away, and I am a white jew. To each his own.
Raines is T.P.'s sub in New Breed. Not sure if he was part of the Deeper Level album. Rafiki is one sick drummer too. This cat is 22 and just all over it. Will be producing soon for sure.
