@battlefielbadcompany You can see that induction motor rotate slower than the emf so we call them asynchronous. This difference in rotatinal speed is expressed by slip and depends on the load of the motor. Heavy load, great slip (few turns).
The synchronous machine can't slip, its rotating speed depends solely on the network frequency. So if you plug it in and force it to turn faster then you will generate 50hz (or 60hz) electricity.
@efzt Induction machines are mostly used as motor or windturbines generators. As the runner rotates within the e.m.field currents are inducted in the squirel cage. Consequently the laplace force makes it rotate.
Synchronous machines are used mostly are generators or vechicle motor (for electric cars). They have a electromagnet mounted on the rotor, they can also have a permanent magnet. The rotor will folow th magnetic field.
