Thats the most retarded shit... the moeller technique should never go above your head. look up joe morello if you wanna hear someone who knows what their talking about
@jonathantc08 well, if you want power, this technique's perfect because you use bigger muscles to do the job - The shoulder muscle in this instance - since you waste less energy trying to get the same power from your wrist or elbows. Really helpful technique - I can't see how this is "retarded shit."
@Munki6 there is nothing more efficient about it.. other than looking funny theres no practical application for this technique. you can get the same results power wise lifting half as high... and just so you know, it will never take less energy moving the entire arm, than moving your wrists, so this is a waste of energy.... not only that, its slow, and third try this on a tom or cymbal, yeah......... useless
@jonathantc08 If you can get a powerful stroke with your wrist, you can get a more powerful stroke by adding your whole arm along with your wrist. It's just logic. There is no way you can get as much power with just your wrist. Yeah you use more energy, but that's the point - you use bigger muscles in a wider range of motion and get more volume as well. And I'm a little confused about why hitting a cymbal or tom would be so different than hitting the snare?
@sk8rbuoi actually drums do have a threshold to their volume... power does not infinitely multiply the volume. . so theres a certain point where movement does become useless... If you want to experiment take your drum stick... hit your snare as hard as you can, lifting no higher than your chin.. then lift the stick as high as you want... and hit as hard as you can... you will find little to no difference in perceived loudness.
@jonathantc08 well right but the idea is not to hit the drum as hard as you can from your chin. The whole purpose is to make striking the drums or cymbal with a more natural fluid motion.
@ralfodrum hahaha, I think leaving a comment on a Youtube video on an account that probably isn't Dom's is probably not the most realistic way to contact him.
I didn't have a pair of sticks or a pad handy so I just grabbed a hairbrush next to my laptop and was doing it along with Dom. That is until on the 4th stroke, I hit myself right in the balls. I fell on the floor and stayed there for about 10 minutes. I wish I was lying. I just have that weird stomach ache now. Lotta power in this stroke. Thanks again for a great vid Dom!!
@pitecantropus I took a picture with him and he is just such a nice guy!!! and he greeted almost all the people that were in line outside of the drum clinic!!!
The full moeller is very a very powerfull stroke. Since im using it, I'm destroying my drum sticks very fast and I'm using promark 5A oak stick ;)
