@spooky78 It was used by F1, yes, but it didn't have the bit through the stadium near the end of the lap. It was just one long sweeping right hander round the outside of where the stadium now is. It was slightly banked in F1 days as well - super fast.
@Gordanovich02 ok I remembered.. is this the place mansel pass berger in 1990 or 1991..why they changed every circuit I dont understand last corner was wonderful in the past..very fast very nice to watch cars in high speed..pehhh
@JackRover you dont know anything about circuits...this track was based on Monza Circuit, even Mexico City circuit is more complicated because it has more curves .
2003-2007 cars all had Cosworth XFE's and eventually all one make cars. Revs reduced to 12,000rpm 1.4 bar 750bhp with 1.5 bar overtake button to 800bhp. 2002 model 5000rpm higher but boost lower to 1.35 also engine life not great 550miles max before rebuild
Best year for CART was probably 1998. As you had two tyre suppliers Goodyear, Firestone. 5 chasis makers Swift, Eagle, Reynard, Lola, Penske. 4 engine makers Cosworth, Toyota, Honda and Mercedes. In those days it was as close as possible to F1 in power 800bhp (but lower tech and heavier) in manufacturer involvement, international drivers, big teams. Zanardi's 97 & 98 back to back championships hardest and worth more than Bordaius 2004-2007 in level of competition and variables.
This era the cars were producing 860-900bhp. The fastest speed a CART style indycar has done that I am aware of was 244mph during the Indy 500 in 1994. 240mph was the normal max on a oval from that time to this.
Champ car is or was the original indy car. They just got booted from competing at indy after 96 when the new series for IRL was formed. In my book these were the real indycars.
Not so much.. the f1 is more faster because is more lighter than a ChampCar (and have a very very expensive development and more advanced design), but the champcar was more faster in final speed (in some times almost 380km/h) The IndyCar (IRL) have a 3.5L no-turbo engine (sad.. and a really NOT GOOD LOOKING DALLARA CHASIS); the champcar was a v8 2.65L turbocharged, with almost 900hp in the CART era. The last Champs has 750hp aprox. I really miss CART..
is this the old f1 track..back in 80's

@spooky78 Yeah, before all the changes. They've clearly changed the final Peraltada corner where Mansell made a famous overtake on Berger in 1990.
