  • Lovely piece of music, I'm submitting my Minimalism piece as well as my folk fusion. So far I've finished my minimalism piece so I'm just working on the other one!

  • I made one comment and then revised said comment so please stop telling me GCSE music will not be a piece of piss.

  • i was silly enough to attempt to do Jazz for my composition, it was so much fun, but minimalism is definitely the easiest to work with.

  • i doin music gcse in 1st year, we gotta write waltz starting in 4 days, i done some of it, but i really hope we can do some miimalism for our next composition, waltz aint as koooool as this ^^

  • You made the piece yourself, the whole melody I think people, it does deserve an A*.. I'm doing a minimalist piece, I am inspired by Steve Reich by his Electric Counterpoint 3rd movement..it's very smart how he did it, he uses the same notes through out just changes the order or octive of them.. :)

  • this is great =D We have to do a waltz, get 1 hour a week for 10 weeks starting next week ^^ will be fun i think

  • This is great, and people always think minimalist is easy, but i've found it hardest of all! It sounds brilliant and the texture is amazing!

  • do you have a score?

  • can i copy this? may sound rude and cheeky, but im doing GCSE and im actually stumped. what are the cords please? would mean alot.

  • Should of took english and learnt and doesnt go well straight after and in a sentence ;] great music.

  • @ididyamumfull Lmftfy: *should have taken English to have learned that, syntactically speaking, the word "and" (or any other word, for that matter) shouldn't follow or predate itself in a sentence.

  • @PickUpYourLighters great piece of music

  • @PickUpYourLighters great piece of music

  • Our compositions in total (2 of them) had to be under 4 minutes long? What board are you on?

  • if this is a* then my teacher is so harsh- the people who got C where better than this

  • @kewlbananable i think schools that grade a grade work are shit, its unfair that some schools expect so much

  • @kewlbananable He got high marks because the song built up, its not how "good" or technically difficult the piece is, but how many marks it gets in the criteria.

  • Nice! I'm just about done on my second composition, if all goes to plan, they will both be A*s.

  • Nice stuff! What program did you use for this?

  • Woah.. :D

  • I meant to put the composition and performance, but being the bitch i am i generalised. The listening paper i have been told is ridiculously difficult... so yes, what can i do.

  • @Jakeifyable no actually the listening paper is quite alright...got 80% for my mocks, and that's the exam I thought I screwed up (a bit) in...so you're going to be fine :)

  • i think that your ideas were good, however, i know you were limited by softwar, but it could be greatly improved, like the violin parts, what not several playing, i dunno, maybe the same thing an octave apart? Or something like that?

  • This is really great, well done :)

  • What program did you use?

  • Omg this is so much better than my shitty composition!

  • It's really good...but how come you are using a prerecorded loop with the beat that comes in. I swear you are not allowed to... well that's what I got told :/

  • @bidoofidous i am actually 'balletbunni' but that account was made years and years ago hence why i have a new one now!

when i did edexcel gcse there were no rules about looping. nothing had to be played live and we could compose what ever we wanted to. i composed such a simple piece on cubase because i had little time before the deadline. my first composition was a complex piano sonata. i'm glad you like it though :)

  • A*! GCSE music will be a piece of piss...

  • @Jakeifyable Hi this is my new channel. completely forgot i even had this youtube account! just thought i'd let you know that yes, GCSE music with edexcel was one of the easiest qualifications i've ever done. you don't even need to know much theory! recommend it ;) just wish A level was as easy!

  • @Jakeifyable Lol, you're going to regret saying that :P

  • @Jakeifyable you don't know how wrong you are mate... composition and performance is pretty easy but the listening paper is ridiculous. I'm grade 8 on French Horn and got an E in two practise papers

  • @Jakeifyable That is the worst thing you could say... You're gonna get a shock.....

  • @Jakeifyable music GCSE is certainly not a piece of piss..

  • @empeplowx Totally agree, so far all of the theory has been hell!

  • I would give this an A or B, no way A*.

  • This is amazing! An A* well deserved! It's very origional & simplicity can be more effective than complication. Well done!

I'm going GCSE music this year. Done one composition so far which I am predicted an A* for but my two music teachers keep on arguing if it is an A or A*.

    :)

  • is this major or minor? :)

  • @alicehsux it's minor

  • haha im using this as an inspiration to my minimalism composition! this is so good! :)

  • *Grasping new concept accomplished. Thank you! :`)

  • awesomediddly

  • I like this :) Is it Minimalism? Area of Study 2?

I am about to begin my second Music GCSE Composition on the computer (I did my first on live guitar) however, our pieces can only be between 1 minute,30 seconds, and 2 minutes in length :(

I really like your melody, it's simple but effective :) The piece definitely deserves an A* - well done!

    Becca x

  • @Becca1996x Hi this is my composition (i no longer use the account!) actually did gcse music several years ago now. it is minimalism. very simple. my first composition was very classical with complex live piano playing but i had very little time to do this one so i used cubase.

it's a very very simple programme which allows you to bring in as many parts as you like and loop them, etc which is how i did it so quickly! but thank you very much :) good luck with your composition!

  • @Becca1996x Hey I hope this isn't too late and that the same applies to you, but I'm doing my first year of A level music and we were told our compositions were limited to 2 minutes, but our teacher told us they gave you a 30 second margin beyond that. Because of that my finished composition now sits at 2:31 exactly :) Good luck.

  • Which area of study is this?

  • The sound is actually alright

    THANKS A LOT

What style of music is this?

I wish to compose this type of music. Can you please give me tips.

    please reply asap.

  • @BlessYou47 i'm so sorry for not replying sooner! this is an youtube account which i had forgotten about! i did my gcses years ago now :)

this music really is minimalism. i used a simple chord progression on the piano and played them as broken chords. then i created a simple melody to play over the top and gradually added parts to make the piece more lively. using cubase for this type of music is so simple and very effective because then you can add, loop and take away parts :)

  • guys help plz!!!! im taking gcse music this year, i play the guitar and since i didnt hve a teacher in the beginning and hve self though myself, prefer tabs to notes, i also didnt do much theory

is there going to be a problem? do u think i should take another subject? plzzzz answer

  • @mojojojo671 Nope it's a piece of piss learning to read notation, I did it in about a week. you only need the basics, then it's pretty self explanatory.

  • @mojojojo671 Theory is theory, some find it rough, like a difficult foreign language, others don't. If it is well taught, it shouldn't, generally, be a problem. Do not be in a hurry to meet the exam schedule until you feel you are ready, though some 'deadline' pressure helps everyone, even adults well past their period of formal studies. One step at a time.

  • @mojojojo671 Hello. i taught myself much of my music knowledge from the age of 6. i hadn't done any theory grades before GCSE music and i got an A*. you don't even need to worry if you can't read notation easily. Some of the people in my class didn't even know where middle c on the piano was! as long as you are passionate about music and have a good ear you'll be more than capable of getting a good grade. A level music was a different story!

  • Is this in the style of grace?

  • No they are college qualifications

  • what is GCSE!?

  • @sirshitsalot007 General Certificate of Secondary Education :) ..high school qualifications basically

  • @sirshitsalot007 A british exam system.

  • @sirshitsalot007 R u a complete retard!!!

  • @adam07011 well SO-RRY If canada doesn't follow the same secondary curriculum as whatever country you're from

  • did you play all these instruments yourself?

  • @GenesisM94 hi sorry for the late reply. this is my new youtube account. i did not actually play all the instruments. i used a special keyboard plugged into a computer to record each part live (including drums) and tweaked them to be just so before changing the instrument sounds.

  • You need to develop the tune more!!!! :D to make it more excitingaling! otherwise, fantasticamo! :) X

  • What Area of Study did you put it under?

  • @DaBigCheeseLuigi i put it under area of study 2 i think but it was so long ago now i can't really remember!

  • was this for the music composition, or solo original composition?

  • You're really good at music :D
