  • This is fantastic.....

  • @keener116

    Thank you!

  • Wow. I have been wanting to do level design for game since I was little. This blew my mind. How did you learn to do this? What school did you go to? All I can use is hammer editor for source engine games. I can't wait to learn things like this! Just because of this video I think I will spend all day working on my level. :D I'm so pumped up and ready to do things like this. Thank you for this video. Good luck in the future!

  • @SonnoMaku

We went to a dutch Art school where we followed the course Game Design & Development.

We're mostly self taught and we learned a lot from studying other games and artwork from other artists.

  • @kn0r the school that you whent to was is grafiesch lyceum rotterdam? mbo game design

  • @MrQbeats

No it was the "Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (HKU)". The course is called "Game Design & Development" but I believe they now have a seperate "Game Art" course as well.

However, I did study at the GLR before I went to the HKU.

  • @kn0r ok

im about to go to the MBO but i have to choose whether i want to go to game programming or game design :S

i actually want to do both

    (srry for the spelling)

  • oh crap how long did it take for you guys to make this? i mean every single object seen had to be modeled, textured, lite etc...

  • @orion5175

Late reply! But it took us 3 months in total.

  • is that background with all the houses an alpha and what is your poly count

  • @MrJBolton2009

    Very late reply, sorry!

It's actual geometry, uses cheaper versions of the higher res buildings. Polycount was around 3mil I think.

  • cool gedaan Tim! (y)

  • This is very nice!

it has a fallout 3 feel to it very impressive!

  • First off, the quality was excellent. I thought the artwork itself was top notch. But when you say you were heavily influenced by gears and fallout, I think you were TOO influenced. Watching this, it felt like I was playing fallout again. It would have been cooler to see something a bit more unique and not so overdone by mainstream video games.

  • This is absolutely amazing! Breathetaking!

    You guys did so good!

  • This is amazing. You should seriously make a game out of this.

  • so do you have a job now??? this is as professional as it gets

  • damn good job!

  • Pretty sweet.

  • Cheers guys, thanks for the comments.

Have to check for the exact specs but the pc has a dual core, 2 gig ram and a geforce.

This isn't really meant for a playable level, there would be a lot of optimisation needed to have a constant framerate.

It actually is playable, it ran at about 20-60 fps with a constant of around 35.

I think it's due to fraps that couldn't handle the high resolution we recorded it in.

  • Just because someone is going to ask it, what kind of system were you using to record this video? Some people I showed this to said it wouldnt actually be playable because of the frame rates.

Anyways, excellent work. You guys wont have any problem getting hired somewhere, if you havent already.

  • Looks great for 3 months work!

  • AMAZING, looks like a very very good cross between Bioshock, Fallout 3 and Gears of War, man you guys should make a game and use this, because it's bloody amazing. Kudos for this.
