That mans voice belongs the category of the best country vocalists of all time and that's gods honest truth.if you don't like him in country it's probably got something to do with bein racist.his voice makes the hair on my neck stand up.that voice is a gift from god
Loved Hootie and the Blowfish and I love Darius as a country singer. Very cool that he's making another career comeback. I'm glad for it because he has a wonderful voice.
He sounded as if he was holding back a little vocally while singing but he still sounded great. At the end, you could see the emotion in his face as if he realized what an incredible moment it was for him as a Black man to receive such an awesome welcome at the Grand Ole Opry. I look forward to more great country music from him.
Love It! Soul stirring.. Just downloaded it at DownloadMusic[DOT]im , .. download it, plug ur ear phone, close ur eyes, listen to the beat and forget the world.
I saw a documentary about him on GAC. He said this was a dream of his. His wife said he was like a little kid before he went on. All nervous and stagefright.
the lord said to sing with all u got..n boi u got it...u are bless wih your music...love the lord with all your heart...not what others are saying..amen..
I love darius too. It just goes to show he can sing any type of music. Not many people can cross over from rock/alternative music to country..he is very versatile...expect more and more out of darious even awards....
Anyone want to email me feel free.....This is an awesoooooome song....I know its about an ex girlfriend, but it reminds me of how much i mistreated or at least took for granted the one EVERYONE should love the most....my mom and everyone's mom. I was so fortunate to take her to the grand ol' opry which is where he sang this song in this video and it reminds me of how much I love her EVERY DAY
i'm just a simple country boy from georgia. i live on a farm and i am a typical wild eyed southern boy. people like to stereo type us all as racist. ill admit i dont like a lot of the other kind of people out there but he is an exception. he is a down to earth human being that actually has a talent unlike that rap shit you hear today.
WOW! Have to admit, got choked up when ya first hear the crowd singing along with Darius on the first verse, and then to see him get a little taken back by the whole experience, very subtle. Awesome performance, well-deserved and a dream come true! OUTSTANDING!!!!
GREAT SONG!!!I've been listening to this song on the radio thinkin the voice sounded familiar and saw him on Leno and was like duh!! thats whos voice it sounds like no wonder...lol
Saw him live in 96 (Hootie and the Blowfish) and thought then he had a lil country thing going on...thought maybe it was because we were in Carolina and he is from SC but it was there.
He sounded good then and now good county too, it suits him.
From a country boy born on the farm, Darius Rucker you are a great country music singer. I welcome you to the greatest music ever played on gods green earth. I look forward to seeing you go as far as Hank Sr. and Jr., Willie Nelson, Charlie Pride (who i met in Natchitoches Louisiana, and is a great singer and kind person), Toby, Kenny, Tim and many others. Country music touches your soul in a way no other but the gospel can do.
Darius said in a interview that Country Music was always his first love in music and that he idolized Charlie Pride... He fits in Country Music plain and simple. WELCOME to COUNTRY Darius...
Isn't Darius great?!?!?!? His voice WAS Hootie and the Blowfish, huh? Beautiful song-normally I don't listen to much country music, but now am changing a little.
Wow - I had no clue that "Hootie" went country. He actually sounded pretty good. I am pleasantly surprised. As a previous poster said, this was a pretty good transition. I think what helps me accept him in this genre is that he did it quietly, without fanfare. eh-hem...Jessica Simpson...cough, cough.
Respect!! That's it. For him to step into country like this is huge. I have been hearing this song on the radio for a while not even realizing who it was. He's talented and deserveing any recognition he receives. Very nice!!!
That's a fluid transition from one genre to another! I really like Hootie and the Blowfish! What do you think of Jessica's transition? I have my own opinion...
Heh, for the record, I understood "invited to the opry" to mean "invited to perform at the opry." This struck me as strange since he on the opry in this video! Simple misunderstanding.
Fuck you, you dont eve understand...... women would kill to be with you and i cant even keep one man so fuck off!

It is? Is it as good as Brad Paisley, Garth Brooks or George Strait where every song should be a radio hit?

Brad Paisley? Lol, his songs are fucking ridiculous cheesy trash. Look at the lyrics to them sometime. Rucker is classic country.

I thought he was from Hootie and the Blowfish!
It was bugging me, because I kept saying
he sounded like the lead singer.
This song has similar vocals to
their song "Deeper Side."
b33133rice 3 years ago
He is from Hootie and the Blowfish.
He decided to do a solo country album.
musicluvr0711 3 years ago
He doesn't really have a country music voice, but it could work. The thing to wait for is the day he gets invited to the opry.
It could happen if he keeps doing songs like "Dont Think I Don't Think About It."
b33133rice 3 years ago
... you're kidding right?
thesnake52000 3 years ago
Okay, maybe it would be a longshot that he would be invited to join the Opry!
That was obviously not the best comment! Apoligies, I took my comment further than
it should have gone. I really don't think
he has any chance at the Opry.
b33133rice 3 years ago
Um, why not? Obviously he needs more than one hit single, but I don't see why he is a "longshot" any more than any other new country artist.
filegirl 3 years ago
