Actually im quite looking forward to it, it will be a nice break from the other DOOOM KILL main VILLAN X,Y,Z...at the end of the expansion. Dont get me wrong they where nice xpacs, and thats why im still playing, but im really like that there will be a bigger focus on Horde VS Alliance, which for me is a bigger part of warcraft. Also there is great potential for the storylines, There is alot of potential in this xpac, lets just hope blizzard dont screw it up with cheese storylines and karatekid
It's nice hearing from someone who's not like WAAH WAAH ITS IN WARCRAFT III ITS PART OF THE LORE WAAH WAAH IMA WoWBABY.
"They were released as a joke at first, but with popular demand they became a candidate for the Alliance Race in Burning Crusade, only to be recalled because Blizzard was waiting to do them right, as they hope in MoP."
From another poster... lolololol
YEah buddy, pandas were so srs bsns they took them off of illidans blades. Fail more ya nub.
Good deal. I used to play WOW, but managed to break the addiction about 2 years ago. Honestly when I heard they were doing an Asian themed expansion with a monk class, I was seriously considering trying it out. Now that I have more details, I no longer feel the urge. Plus I'm a StarWars fan, so I'm really looking forward to TOR.
@jbeck2k10 Already have. It's okay. Other than having an "actual" storyline and good voice acting, I'm not really that impressed by the gameplay itself to be honest.
@cnovis Aww, that makes me sad, I was hoping it might be a decent WoW replacement. I got sucked into the WH/Aion Train Ride of Fail & pre-ordered both (because all of my WoW friends did), and I swore after Aion I wouldn't buy a new MMO until it showed signs of being awesome. Guess I'll just stick with SC2 and hold out for the SC2 xpac and Diablo 3. If anything, this helped me quit WoW, lose 15lbs and win NaNoWriMo. LOL! Amazing what you can get done when you're not playing WoW. :)
Your rant crystallizes pretty much everything I hate about this expansion. They're taking a sidebar race from WC3 and making it an entire expansion. Pandas?! I'd rather have a playable fish node with a racial of 'slippery.'
The Asian landscape is beautiful and they could have done so much more with this. What about dragons? Dragons are a cool part of Asian culture and would have made a badass race (and are already part of the lore and fit well with the fantasy genre - dragonkin, wyrms, etc).
@artsysimone Thanks for your reply. What really bums me out is that the monk class in D3 actually looks pretty decent. So I can't understand what happened.
the new expansion is a joke, true, they were introduced in warcraft, but even then, it was basically a joke, and now, since they have no imagination, they pull out a race that really stupid.
The same thing happened to everquest too, WoW is just realesing too many expansions too fast, nerfing every class except on or two each patch. and i think the downfall was around when, i guess this was pretty epic, BUT WHEN THEY SPLIT THE FUCKING BARRENS IN TWO... which is retarded..
1) They were released as a joke at first, but with popular demand they became a candidate for the Alliance Race in Burning Crusade, only to be recalled because Blizzard was waiting to do them right, as they hope in MoP.
2) WoW needs new content to keep the subscribers happy. There are people who probably think Blizzard is releasing content too slow.
3) I shall not miss the long trek from the Crossroads to Taurajo. I will miss the chat, though.
Oh and you do realize pandaren predate Kung Fu panda right? By a long time. They've been in the lore for ages now. Can't say I'm crazy about the panda thing, but I think Blizzard is offering more content and I'm willing to overlook the pandas if they can offer something decent.
Sorry, but Cataclysm was TERRIBLE. Yes, the world was destroyed. That was a good starting point, but the story just went downhill from there. WotLK was superior as far as that goes. And the actual game....awful. There is a reason why Blizzard is scrambling to make up for it and win their casuals back. Cata is that reason.
And WoW-itself has always, and I mean ALWAYS been childish. With it's cartoony style, talking cows, aliens, barbie-looking elves, lord of the rings-rippoffs... I mean, all of the playable races are and always have been childish stereotypes! But that's what makes the game so enjoyable.
I really have to ask... did you see anything else beyond the trailer? Because Blizzard is actually putting a lot of effort into their background. The Pandaren themselves look nothing like Po from Kung Fu Panda, and indeed nothing like the Pandaren Express character. And there's much more to this expansion than "Asians."
Also, Pandaria so far is shaping up to be that mystical land you mention. And were you expecting the Pandaren to be wearing T-shirts and fedoras?
besides, it's about time we got asians in the game. I mean we got americans, native americans, scotsmen, british, eastern-europeans, american-italians, jamaicans, norwegians, eskimos... the list of sterotypes we got in the original warcraft games and in wow can go on and on.
Well, honestly, I always found something a teeny tiny bit pokemonish about hunters, especially when it came to collecting pets, so the pet battle system was no surprise for me. as for the pandares, yeah i know it looks very kung fu panda, but pandarens made their first appearance in warcraft 3 ten years ago, and they were chinese by culture, just like taurens are native americans, trolls are jamaican, dwarves are scottish worgens are british and etc etc.
LOL!!!! So true. I lost pretty much all respect for blizz at this point. I want absolutely nothing to do with wow anymore. The fact that they chose to go this route with the game is just silly, stupid, childish, and downright unbecoming. Shame on blizz for turning there once great game into a freakin joke.
@1985comando Dude, WoW has ALWAYS been childish. The cartoony style from the racial to the environmental designs. We have talking native american cows, blue lituanian aliens, barbie-looking elves, lord of the rings and warhammer-rippoffs, silly purple-elves, cartoony werewolves... Every single playable race is a childish stereotype!
@Creaturelover18 I disagree. Watch each and every last one of the preceding trailers from WoW. They all have a grimmer, darker, much more mature theme and feel to them. Illidan, Arthas, Deathwing who leveled the entire world into rubble. Now, pandas. Tauren I can take seriously, elves I can take seriously, warewolves I can take seriously. However me and thousands of others see these fat silly little pandas for what they are, a pathetic attempt at regaining subs. Some ppl will gobble up anything.
@1985comando Yes, but the style is still cartoony no matter how dark they make it. If they wanted it to look even more dark, grimm and totally badass is if they turned it into something like Skyrim or more Lord of the Rings-like, which is something WotLK almost did. Yes the previous villains are badass, but cartoony-badass. So yeah, calling MoP childish is pretty hypocritical since WoW and the entire franchise itself always has been childish and cartoony, but some people failed to see until now
@Creaturelover18 I was always more than happy to overlook the cartoony graphics so long as they kept the lore and characters reasonably serious. However, introducing a ridiculous race such as the pandaren doesn't exactly compliment nor elevate the essence that WoW had put in place before. Excuse us "haters" for having a spine and a strong opinion about things we are passionate about. I realize how hard this must be to understand. By your logic, even a hello kitty exp wouldn't be a problem.
@1985comandoHmm... If you're a hardcore WC-fan, then you do know that the pandarens were introduced TEN FUCKING YEARS AGO?! Why wait ten goddamn years to complain, hm? Jesus, every whiner nowadays does that now, bringing up problems they should've had ages ago. Let's be honest, the entire franchise of warcraft is stupid and is just an online playable cartoon, but that's what makes it so enjoyable. It's kinda like TMNT, an idea so stupid it had to be great.
@Creaturelover18 First off, what makes it fun for you may not be what makes it fun for others. We are talking about a fanbase of 10 million plus people with varying tastes and personalities. Secondly, all you morons using the fact that pandaren were in WC3 to justify this expansion don't even realize it was introduced as a joke, so that argument is invalid. Even if it wasn't, thousands of people seem to think it's a stupid idea in the first place. I happen to agree.
@landth78 The problem with how the game used to be is that everything took for ever, so it took away a lot of our time of the day, especially if you had a pretty busy life(such as work, school or both)

I hate how they made WoW so easy... I miss the elite mobs that were part of low lvl quests that you'd need to join up with friends to kill :(
Now 10 year olds get their lvl 40 mount so easily... Years ago, I had to EARN that thing!
Anyways! Ha! I love you! SO MUCH! <3
