You ultramarathoners should look into professional dog running. I run 100 miles a week and get paid to do it. This is quite an interesting technique. Maybe I'll try it out.
Well, I tried Arrowhead 2 years ago and failed. Now i'm training for Arrowhead again. This last 2 years i get more confidence, finishing Brazil135, Sahara Race and several other ultra races (100km, 100miles, 24hours, etc). So i'm gonna get try again. It was you at Trans333? I am really interested in try that one too.
If you get a chance please check out our promo trailer for our documentary titled, "MY RUN", which is on our YouTube channel "vandytime".
It's based on the Terry Hitchcock story, a man who ran 75 consecutive marathons in 75 consecutive days, to bring awareness to the plight of Single Parent Families.
This year i'm gonna pace another brazilian in Badwater 07. I did it at the last year and it was something. Badwater is more like run in an oven. But run in
-50F is like facing the dead in each step. You never
know how your toes, feet, hands, will behavior and if
your equipment will works, or even if you gonna make to the next point. At Badwater you'll allways have the support car and air conditionated. My next ultra shall be the Atacama Crossing, in august.
It seems you like the self-supported ultras. One of these days I hope to run one of the stage ultras. I'm not sure I'd be able to afford a trip to Chile.
Tim, if you want i can send you the infos about Atacama Crossing. But you have awsome ultra events in US already. Its not necessary to go out to find something. Take care.
Well, unfortunately this year the race organizer pulled me out from the race. They found maybe i could die, after 24 hours, so at the 11th hour i was pulled out. It was amazing facing -50F for 11 hours, but really scary.
This is fantastic.

Wow! I've always wanted to try that! But I'm a little too self conscious. Best of luck for your races!

I'm hoping to get into enough shape to run the Arrowhead this winter. Training with a tire seems a good idea!
kinthelt 2 years ago
have you tried a weighted vest instead of a tire? both are a form of resistance training but that tire seems like it can be a bit annoying.

It's an incredible race. I don't know if I'll ever be ready for something like that.
It sounds more appealing than Badwater though. I don't know about the heat.
That's some hardcore training you do. Any other ultras on the horizon for you?

rodcer - how has your ultra year been treating you?
I ran my first 100 miler this year at WS.

hi Tim,
nice to hear news from you.
Well my friend, this year has been pretty interesting.
After Arrowhead, i ran 100 miles between 2 cities
(a small local challenge, me and 3 other) but as i
got a bit fat, i ran in 29h30min, and passed out
(dismay) at the end.

I went at Badwater, carrying on of 3 brazilian runners outthere. One of them became a champion
and broke the record of the race (22h51min59sec).
