I played this tune with Airto back in 2005 at Londons Jazz Cafe, and he's still a monster on the drums! So glad they put this on the set list...Thanks snowboy!
Gli Azimuth fecero il remake di Partido Alto... il miglior brano dell'album Airto (bella anche la versione degli Azimuth). Peccato che non c'è su YouTube!!
Does the whole world know...that this was almost an anthem for British Jazz-Funk dancers back in Da days ??? This was played over & over again and the GOOD dance clubs....
Been listeneing to Airto since the late70's. Met him twice here in San Diego, at the local colleges. Southwestern and San Diego State. Such a good promoter of Brazilian Vibes here in the stsates. He is definitely in the Brazil percussion hall of fame, along with Paulinho da costa.Ciaozinho from the most beautiful city in California, San Diego!
nice song. I don't know Airto's work that much, but my dad , who's also a musician, met him and Flora the other day, and they're coming over to my house for dinner tomorrow! I'm really happy and excited that two great artists will be at my humble house just talking and listening to some music...who knows, maybe they'll get into some crazy project with my father, that would be great :D
Great tune. Every Album Airto made hides within a huge lesson in Percussion. The Bass is played by Alphonzo Johnson and the Synth is George Duke. Exquisite stuff. Have a listen to the Airto album where Jaco Pastorius played with the French Pianist Michelle Colombier. Get ready to be inspired...

Been searching for this tune for a year. I knew it was by Airto but the title evaded me. Tonight my quest is over. Thank you DJ!

Hey did the band Azymuth remake this song, or did he redo their song?
Either way both versions are pretty cool.

actually the Azymuth song was one year earlier!
bossa4life 2 years ago
you guys know Azymuth did a "cover" of this song called "Tamborim, Cuíca, Ganza, Berimbau" on Atlantic 1977
bossa4life 2 years ago
Indeed, the song was written by Jose Bertrami, key player of Azymuth.
