Powerful video, gave me goosebumps just listening to his story. I truly believe he is a bright young man that will overcome ANY obstacle in front of him. He has the two of you to thank for that. Keep up the great work.
This video brought tears to my eyes..my sibling has the disease very badly and when she is in pain it hurts me to see her suffer, it also hurts me to see my mom feeling sorry that she brought this upon her...she just spent 2 months in the hospital with the most excruciating pain that she has had in her 21 years on this earth, only to be sent home cause the hospital really couldnt do anything more for her...This touches me alot that i am crying as i type
OMG! This is so I touching. My 10 year old brother and I both have Sickle Cell Anemia SS. I am 24 and we both have had complications over the years but it has only made us stronger. I take my hats off to you guys for being caring parents because the support means alot thru difficult. Ppl say we can'y do this are that but I'm a LPN in the state of NC & working full-time at a community health center and going back to school in May for my RN.I want to make SCD known more than what it is and educate
My son's 14 y/o at the time of this post btw. :-)...He's just a wonderful young man. {Not perfect but wonderful none the less}...He does have struggles w/bullies @ times & thats what makes it hard for him & he doesnt always know how 2 handle it & sometimes lashes out improperly but he is still so strong. We are both still learning together how to deal with the bullies..Now that he is in high school & his school is closer..We both can "fight" the bullies better. {not literally of course}
Such an intelligent & sweet young man. He loves y'all I can tell. He began crying when Mom began crying. I love him. I hate to see that he has to go through this. My son has MILD Cerebral Paulsy & there are times its hard for him & his legs hurt, but he is so strong & handles it so well. I guess because we don't make him feel like he can't. He also has hydrocephalus {born with fluid around his brain that was drained when he was a little over 1 y/o}.
k so gotta go do laundry after sabbath to wash up these SOAKED towels with tears and go and buy some more tissue...asante THANK YOU so much for sharing! parents you are simply amazing, handle these two words always "LOVE YALL"
k sweet peas keep posting and allowing THE MOST HIGH to use you for HIS GOOD.
Your son is so precious! To hear him in his own words describing his pain just tore me up. It's so wonderful that he is willing to share his experience with the world. Well done Asante!
yea i agree with TheNote2self... doctor sebi. i am not sure how you all feel about alternative medicine but doctor sebi could def. help Asante. great video.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS! He is precious. Great and intelligent young man. Handsome on the inside and out. Kudos to the parents and kudos to the courageous Asante Ma'at! I'm proud to say I saw this video.
I wanted to make sure I gave you the correct info, @ my hospital UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dr. Zora Rogers, a professor of pediatrics & clinical director of the general hematology and bone marrow failure progra at Childrens Medical Center Dallas, completed a study and based on the results, offers hydroxyurea to all sicke cell patients, expecially the youngest ones, its actually a cancer drug. Its supposed to significantly reduce pain in young kids. & the amount of sickle cell crisis.
my cousin died many years ago at the age of 5yrs when I was a teenager and now I'm 40yrs old. Now they are doing so many great things with the break through of research and medicine. I've read and heard there is a type of transfusion that has been done as close as Pa that some patients have 0 production of sickle cells being formed in the body and living pain free. have you all heard of this or researched it. It runs in my family but I was tested when I decided I wanted to have kids years ago.
Wow, I am praying now and for now on out, the devil is LIAR! he is so beautiful, like the rest of your children. tears, at the same time, I will take it from him if I could, forreal, no child deserve that. I can't watch anymore, we are praying for you all.
That boy is so handsom, and the way he speaks, and his explanation of sickel cell much have your heart bursting with pride.
I am so sorry that he has to go through this.
Please give him a big hug for me. I would go over to his page and give him a hand shake but he's right. No face, no note. Not with kids. So please pass on my best to him.
It's great that he's so knowledgeable about his condition. I've worked with a lot of patients who suffered with the disease as well. Recently there have been great results with patients receiving chem and then receiving stem cells. I completed a walk for the Lymphoma foundation and we were able to register for the Bone Marrow Registry because there is such a shortage of African Americans on the list. So far the stem cells have shown the best results. A hematologist I work with mentioned a theor
Mommie and daddy you guys have done such a great job with him. My niece has it and I often wonder how she feels. She is 7 years old. I love how you express your feelings to him. He blessed to have you guys as parents, and he's sooooo precious. Keep up the good job. I have to show my sister this. May God bless your family.
Peace family bless to your children. Your son is very informative and knowledgable about his condition he is very brave and bright. However I am into herbs and natural living sickle cell is a condition that can be cure. Every dis ease can be cured there are herbs and bitters that can be taken to purify the blood and cleanse the bood. Also a change of dietary lifestyle preferably raw foods his condition could be cured in less than three months look into that family. Hotep.
your son is very intelligent.....i learned alot just in those very few mins about sickle cell that i didnt know. Keep encouraging him to educate others..... Be Blessed!
I went to school with a guy who has Sickle Cell, it was rough for him a lot of the times, he'd be very weak and missed a lot of school. God Bless your son.
What an adorable, intelligent and inspiring little boy. He has a great attitude and beautiful spirit. I pray that a cure for Sickle Cell Anemia is found soon.
Breaks my heart to see this and literally in tears. I hate that kids struggle with illnesses and pain but at 9 years out your son is very informed about his condition and is so well spoken. Thank you guys for sharing and for raising such a intelligent child. He is well on his way to becoming the best man he can be.
What a resilient young man. We as adults can learn so much from children. Your son is truly a blessing from God.
