Maryland Teacher of the Year 2011, Michelle Shearer

I am so ecstatic for Mrs. Shearer's being honored as National Teacher of the Year! I cannot think of a more clear-headed, honorable, eloquent, or passionate spokesperson for our country's teachers. I had the privilege of being her student during my senior year. Though I had virtually no prior experience in chemistry, she instilled in me the confidence that I could succeed in a college-level chemistry class. Her clarity of expression, encouragement, and spirit enriched me in so many ways.
