think Delia Derbyshire was making Minimal Techno before it was Minimal Techno. Listen to some of the loops she plays and syncs up using those several tape players and imagine a four on the floor fat subby kick drum and some nice shuffling hi hats.
0:11 Wasn't Delia just so far ahead of her time? its not surprising her work was influential to later electronic music composers. Orbital to name but one group.
The guy behind was idea from Adrian musician of Portishead... they like this freaky characters in their videos ;-D ...and Delia is the Grand Grand mother of MONIKA KRUSE!
Interesting to think that the workshop was doing this stuff some twenty years before Ben Burtt began his ground-breaking sound effects work for for Star Wars.
That subliminal guy is amazing, shows these people had some wicked character. Does anyone know who he is? I presume he had something to do with the alchemists of sound
never have heard of Delia Derbyshire before. strange to see a woman of that age talking about that kind of innovative technical things, isn't it? great.
Hey man, this was 1960s Britain! She was a mathematician as well as musician, which explains how intelligently she approached the subject. Science RULES!
try to get the LP or CD of WHITE NOISE entitled "An electric storm". Delia Derbyshire was a member of that project.
They produced outstanding music more than 40 years ago, in the pre-synthesizer-time. Partly sounds like sixties-pop, but is much more than that... check it out
@kopfkunst is totally correct. anybody with any interest in thiis stuff should listen to the white noise album. The apothesis of radiophonic methodology.
@cpi23 Its a guy playing moog, the inventor of the synthesizer. He peaks out cus back then they didnt have it. And he is like, "i know what it is and will have it, and you wont" yet.. Pointing nose kinda guy this moog :D
I think that's 'cos they had tape playing through the machine and as soon as it runs out on the source spool the reel on the other side will go the other way (as it pulls to keep the tape tension up in the opposite direction of the spool doing the driving, so to speak)

Great show ...the attempt a being artsy with the old bugger in the background was a silly idea though.

. . . the guy in the background, might have been just
annoying if he appeared only once. as it is, he CLEARLY
needs to get a life - a personality - a hobby & if possible
a friend or two !! good grief man . . .
