ALL Southeast Asian countries were under European rule at one point of their history. Just because Europeans occupied SOME Asian countries, doesn't mean that their people are automatically of European descent. Filipinos in the USA will say they're not Asian cause that's what they think. They are having an identity crisis.

@coolness2929 actually, filipinos are asian. the philippines is located in south east asia making filipinos southeast asians... before the spanish came to the philippines, the chinese were there. this means that most filipinos have strong chinese ancestry, and explains why we have many chinese vocabulary. less then 5% of filipinos have spanish ancestry. filipinos are mainly a mix of chinese, japanese(due to japanese occupation of PH 1942-1944) and very very little bit spanish.
