  • Extreme5100 you should go see a doctor

  • Is it bad if I do this with 30 pounds and my left shoulder makes a weired noise after 5 reps then I can't do it anymore with that arm

  • i really like this method but i dont know what to do now for my upper chest.. inclined press. ore this new method for better results? help plz..

  • but is this exercise better than the normal Inclined press?

  • man, that intro is dope as hell.

  • lookin' a bit yellow there, Jeff.

  • HEY GUYS! please help me, i have a question now my trainer has got me to stop doing flat benchpress because i have been doing it for 3 months now, i feel like my chest is not growing and getting smaller, should you always do flat BP every chest workout? thanks for the help!!!

  • So I have been right the whole time, I see most people do dumbbell flies wrong, they leave out the squeeze at the end and focus on how low they starting position is! Jeff Cavaliere for President!

  • Jeff another well presented vid,,like yr approach behind the method ,,,well done m8 keep up the good work for all the newbies and wanabies,,,wishin u all the best cheers m8 Mac

  • Yea but Dorian Yates and Ronnie Coleman are Mr. Olympias so they know what they're doing, steriods or not.

  • LOVE THIS GUY, legend!

  • great information,,,

  • how about a cable fly? i seem to get a better stretch on the pecs then normal bench press.

  • Studies have shown that working out with heavy weights in middle school aged kids does stunt growth. However this is not true for high school aged kids. But that doesn't mean middle school aged kids can't workout at all. They should focus on cardiovascular endurance and yoga based programs to increase flexibility and decrease their chance of injuries and it also helps to keep them well conditioned.

  • Thank you so much for addressing the whole fly issue. I always felt that doing that was a strain on my shoulders and I'm actually really relieved to know that it's not necessary. I feel so much better doing it the way you demonstrated.

  • I've spent the last week wading through every noob posting chest workouts. I'm glad I finally found PT based workouts.

  • this guys knows what hes talking about. i cant believe anyone doubts him. by far the best trainer ive seen.

  • you can also do a guilltine press

  • can u give me the name of the weights that ur using?

  • 5 dislikes=5 noobs

  • Jeff you sure did ruffle some feathers in your previous video coz theres too many noobs out there that don't know good advice even when it makes total sense. Your vids are the best. Has really helped me progress more in the past year than I ever have in since I been working out from 2002.

  • If there is one thing i've learned since getting out in this world its that people don't know what they are talking about. Its so refreshing when you find somebody that does. An Cavaliere is one of those that does. Keep them coming!!!

  • I am a Jeff Cavaliere fanboy

  • just a quick question, jeff...if dumbbell flys don't help stretch the pec major, then is it the same case for cable crossovers? does that not stretch the muscle either? i ask because flys and crossovers appear to involve a similar kind of motion...

  • Thanks man. I need to gain strength for next wrestling season and this channel has helped me temendously

  • And thats the bottom line cuz Jeff said so!!! I've worked out in all aspects of fitness since I was 15. Im In my late 20's now. And theses workouts are the best well rounded workouts I've ever seen or done. Without a doubt will get you where you want to go.

  • @climber1278 hey i got a question.. I'm 15 atm and does working out really stunt growth?

  • I thought I had somewhat decent arm size and definition until I saw his arm at 5:40...This motivates me and de-motivates me at the same time.

  • thank god 4 u jeff keep it coming

  • big bag of meat up on the stage hahaha love it!!

  • Thanks Jeff Iv been looking for something like this!!

  • Very thorough and informative. Thanks Jeff!

  • Hey jeff, I have been using incline presses to build my upper chest for years. And i have got very little results. This exercise has gave me amazing gains in visible size and strength in that area. Along with your tip of point my thumbs upward on incline flys have really helped. I will definitely join athleanx. Thanks

  • Thanks man ! You are right !

  • this helps a bit, but im still 'bulletproof' lol

  • jeff your videos are great buddy, really helps.

  • AWESOME! Keep it up!

    -Brandon

  • you know what Jeff, I was fitness magazines geek but now I'm AthleanX videos geek and I'm proud :)

  • thanks for the tips, sad that magazines/old style gym coaches ideas stay stuck in peoples head when come to find out you can get hurt its not worth it.These tips make all the diffrence to get the benefit of strength and the fit look all men want,so its better to do it right to achive this.

  • What he's saying is be natural...Yates, Coleman, Cutler and all those guys use steroids and their bodies look huge and disgusting. Most women don't like that look. The lean athletic body is more desired. Those guys look like freaks and most are losing their hair and have major back acne. And they all have small penises! Steroids are for losers!!!

  • I like the tips and pointers in this video. Kind of disappointed with the insults to bodybuilders. Saying that they don't have function muscle is incorrect. Jeff have you ever watched Kevin Levrone sprint? He was able to sprint almost as fast as an olympic sprinter, and a lot of those guys have athletic backgrounds. Phil Heath can still pwn newbs on the basketball court and almost dunk at 5,9. They never hated on you, so be more professional and respect other professions, it makes you sound bad.

  • LOL he just totally called out the other fitness channel guys

  • @Jdcav24 what about cable flys? Or using bands? Do you deem that so to be a pointless exercise in the way of chest workout??

  • This guys the man! never doubt jeffy

  • Very clever.

  • I love watching your videos... It gives me a healthy look on how I train, and it makes me aware of what's right and what's wrong.... Oh btw you've gotten smaller Jeff! :D not less ripped but just a little bit smaller these last few months!

  • so mcuh respect for this guy

  • If you never had a shoulder problem or had a small injury and you think that it's not a big deal, let me tell you what it might be like. I have one right now. I'm in a lot of pain and painkillers don't help. The doctor gave me a shot of steroids right into my shoulder joint and I'm taking some pills that can damage my digestive system. And the worst part I think is that I can't have a good sleep. I wake up every hour. It's been 2 weeks already. I hope this never happens again!

  • it is not just the muscle that stretches during a movement. the cutaneous, subcutaneous tissues are also involved. mr cavalier is correct in saying that the chest fly does not require greater range of movement, however, my argument is that, the extra stretch felt during a flying movement comes from the stretch of the muscle fasciae rather than muscle fibres.

and this is where i think the value of movements with extended arms lie. they help stretch out the fasciae and assist in the overall gain

  • What would you say about high cable chest fly?

    Is it effective?

  • @guitaralvez

The answer to that.... is FUCK no!

  • awsome video thanks mate

  • I like doing incline flies with medium weight followed by incline press with the same weight followed by alternating biceps without a pause. But that's only at the end of my chest workout to finish up. Mostly I do bench presses. Every time slightly different angles on grip. That is fun for me. For competitive athlete probably the best way of training is big movements (or after 30 ONLY this)

  • Jeff totally just shat on everyone who was doubting him. Love it.

  • Hmm, if the dumbbell press with supinated grip works the upper chest well, does that mean a close-grip bench press will too? Looks like a very similar movement.

  • Thanks for the advice Jeff but I have been struggling trying to develop the lower chest, that line that goes from the inner chest out to the armpit, any advice? I have tried your lower chest workout but its not working for me

  • Is this to say that pec decks are wrong too?

  • "big bag of meat up on the stage!"......

    Loved that one!!!hahahahah

  • Can't argue with physics! Good vid!

  • some of the other fitness coaches only show you simple exercizes or routines that they do or know.

jeff goes above and beyond and trains you even on the fine details of routines and just a simple workout. he legit has it down to a science!

  • I actually agree on Jeff advice. I've seen people who looks like monster lifting weights the same amount of weight like someone who look like Jeff and struggle. I believe that when you lift weight you do it proper good form and at a good pace. There are people at my gym who seem to just go nowhere while I grow stronger.

  • loololllooll JEFF YOU ROCK!

  • You're really showing two exercises here right? Are these meant to be done in seperately, or just use the later one for exercising the chest? Thanks for the video.

  • I truly enjoy every one of these videos and all of the workouts. Your right, people want to hear what they believe works. This is not the place for that.

  • I did 100 pull-ups yesterday bro! Thanks for the video about goal settings. It took me 7 sets with the push-ups, mountain climbers, and box jumps. Keep up the good work. My workouts have never been more interesting!

  • Thanx Jeff! going to start doing this on my chest day!

  • what are his weights called?

because i had never seen them but he always uses them, andare these better than regular dumbells?

  • @dslkaleb those are called powerblock dumbells, they sell a 50 lbs set at dicks sporting goods. type in powerblock on youtube and you will find lots of reviews on them, awesome set to have if you have limited space at home. hope that helps.

  • @georgemc26 thanks man

  • jeff uve been getting bbbiiiigggg

  • Yep i think that a Myth sereis about workouts and exercises would do a lot, since( at least for my case) when i see guys and girls at the gym talking about workouts they sometimes do not make sense and when they are actually doing them it seems that they are getting nowhere,

and is this tip applicable to a bench press?

  • Jeff your advice are always full of knowledge. thanks for all the great information!!!

  • I really appreciate all the advice you give. Thank you so much Jeff!

  • jeff is a freakin boss

  • Hey Jeff, i think you should do a "MYTHS" series for each muscle, would help. thumbs up if you agree

  • @IAmBetterThanCrash68 great idea bro it would help take away alot of the b.s that you hear i think he should do it for nutrition aswell and make it a series..id buy it!!

  • @IAmBetterThanCrash68 ...agree..I'm new to the workout game and I ask my body builder friend for exercises, then I as my Physical Therapy friend and personal trainer friend because I want to do things right without getting hurt or doing stupid exercises.

  • Salut Jeff,

Merci pour tous tes conseils, ils sont très appréciés. Tu connais ta discipline et tes exercices sont très créatifs et très efficaces. Tu n'es pas un des meilleurs entraineur pour rien. Continue ton excellent travail

    Merci pour tout

  • Just started week 12 of the AthLEAN X program and I have had amazing results. I will throw out a few numbers for you. Down 17lbs and almost 4inches around my stomach. I will choose the body I have now over the bloated slab of meat that steps on stage any day. I feel and look more like an athlete every day since I started this program. It won't be too long before you see my before and after pictures on his website!

  • Hi Jeff wondering if you would do an episode on getting some running speed cheers Luke

  • I've learned sooo much from this guy, just watching his free videos and changing the way I work out, even the smaller changes have a huge impact. he knows everything about every muscle and every angle to hit them from, no joke, everything he says is true and usually tests positive. I wish I can afford his product, I don't feel I need it, but i wanna support him cuz he's genuine unlike the others.

  • I have to say this is one of the few channels that actually mentions the muscles being exercise during the workout.

  • I like how people who don't know what they're talking about argue with a top-notch physical therapist... Great job, Jeff. You're videos and system are amazing.

  • JEFF IS THE BEST AT WHAT HE DOES. FACT.

why he has fewer views/subscribers than other LESSER competitors boggles the mind..

  • @wardyboy26 its probably becuz most just want to be body builders without building yourself as an athlete with a mix of body building..

  • talk about ronnie coleman. you should compare his workout methods to yours

  • does he wear fake tan on his face??!

  • Jeff is right on I really appreciate his little pointers they help me to change my workouts up and not get stagnant

  • WTF I'm berly watching this??? Stupid sub box...

  • you could use a straight bar?

  • to boby6. Yes Jeff is trying to sell his product, its called running a business. I bought the athleanx system as a result of watching his videos and i have never regretted it. It is half the price of other training systems and 10 times the quality. If you dont like the fact that he is a business man as well as an awesome trainer then dont watch the vids.

  • I think Jeff is the only person on youtube who is trying to sell his product in every vid and people do not complain about it

  • @boby6 That's because this guy does something most others don't here on youtube. He gives us some of the most knowledgeable and kick ass content in his videos. No homo here but I love Jeff!

  • @boby6 That's cause it really works...i bought it and i know.Jeff helps change peoples life and deserves to get paid for it. No hype it works and Jeff is the man !

  • Hi Jeff, I have back problems, lower back, I practice extreme sports, I study architecture and I need to sit or stand too long, I have to regulate injuries in the lower back that take me out of the game weeks, I need you to show back exercises that help make it stronger and avoid back injuries in the lower back or the whole back also building muscle.

    I expect an answer soon

    Greetings from Venezuela!

  • video on legs and lower back please??? thanks for your passionate attitude man

  • i love how dedicated you are im in my first year of physiotherapy and hope to be in a postion like yours in the future

  • how about you come to australia train me for 3 months and then prove more worth to ure product, great advertisement skills ;) ahaha

  • Great job. I appreciate that you take a scientific approach to training. It would be great if you did a series of myth busting videos that challenge the many misconceptions about training. People looking to muscle magazines for advice are probably the most misinformed - not only about training, but also about supplements.

  • what kind of dubbells are these?

  • @k9r100

theyre powerblocks. i have a pair. i highly recommend, especially if youre limited on space. looks like jeff has the 20-90 pd set. i have the 10-50 pound set. you can replace a whole rack of dumbbells with a pair of powerblocks...for half the price too

  • man i want to see a fight between this guy and mike chang (from sixpackshortcuts)

  • hey how would u do a decline press this way?

  • Jeff you are an awesome trainer. As always keep up the good work.

  • Wow, he was pretty pissed that people were arguing with him... Love how he states that he knows what he's doing, Athlean-X has some of the best workouts I've ever seen,

  • thanks my body is more good with your training

  • you wanna look like Jeff? You gotta work like him.

  • Thank you for explaining the science behind these movements, it makes a lot of sense when explained in this manner, not "just do this you'll get bigger" keep up the great work, looking forward to incorporating this new movement into my athlean x work outs

  • ah fuck mee... ive been doing tht for months...ill have to stop tht particular fly!

  • @xtechxtips Use machine flys to avoid stretching your shoulder and almost tearing your muscle in conjunction with what Jeff outlined.

  • Your right Jeff, being puffy & bloated it out! I remembered looking like that. As big I I finally got, I wasn't happy still. Ripped & Lean is all the way

  • Those people are dumb for misunderstanding. You were crystal clear! Another great vid Jeff. Thanks

  • Those people are dumb for misunderstanding. You were crystal clear! Another great vid Jeff. Thanks

  • Great video

  • I've been working out for just over 10 years. I've never hit any gains like I've hit since incorporating these workouts and Jeff's advice into my routines. Keep it up!!!

  • Great show, a massive help, keep up the brilliant work

  • lol@ "....Not just looking like a big bag of meat on stage"

  • Yet another great vid! Been subscribing for a couple of years and I just never get tired of them or the great workouts!

  • Another great vid! Love the smarts and science behind it to back it up! Keep'em coming!!!

  • Big and bloated BB.. No disrespect, I love your info but I'm a BB fan also..if I could look like Phil Heath the way he looked on saturday night naturally .. 250 lbs, 23 inch arms, 50 inch chest, 29 inch waist, 3% body fat...shredded to the bone. I'll TAKE IT..And if any guy on here says they wouldn't there fuckin lieing through there narrow asses ...

  • @Reignunlimited

I'd take the 3% body fat. On the rest, I agree with Jeff.

  • If u actually stopped thinking that all loadings onto muscle are the physical weights you lift, then (a) you might be able to understand the effciiency of muscle flexing in isolation and in unison with other muscles as supporting and counter balance PLUS (b) you might be able to to explain this better the first time. Step away and workout how loadings can be created besides just the physical wight you lift.

  • i tried this tip...it worked great...if i wasnt a poor member of the military i would def buy athlean x ....great tip...thanks

  • best physical fitness videos on youtube.. you dont just say to do things, you actually give a reason as to why... keep up the great work

  • Hey Jeff I have bought your program and have been using it for a while now and im getting results, how much protein do you recommend to build mass while using your program? And how many times a week should I train abbs?

    Thanks mate

  • @bazza2001 You bought the programme? It tells the exact days to work abs as it does all the other exercises...can't see how you're getting confused.

  • i like this guy, i tried to take his advice and ut really helps a lot..

  • Jeff ur my inspiration!

i just started college as a physical therapist and my dream is to concentrate on sports, by watching u, ive learned so many stuff but mostly, i realized that there is a place for what i want to focus on out there: helping athletes!

thanks so much for all the work u put into your videos, they really change lives :)

  • wont push-ups with your feet elevated target the upper shest???

  • @xthexTxvirusx Chest***

  • @xthexTxvirusx they would yes.

  • @Kolbe95 striations are visible when there is low body fat, not because of flys or specific exercises

  • "big bag of meat on stage" hahahhahaha

  • jeff what is your take on force factor???

  • NICE!!! JEFF IS LIKE MAYWEATHER!! in this industry!!!

  • this is what i`ve wanted to know, an exercice who builds the upper pectorals

damn, good job, if you can show us more exercices for the upper chest, and other mushcles that are dificult to develop please show us....

    thanx

  • @theRealkabO0 He does. It's called AthleanX. You should buy it instead of looking for hand outs.

  • does anyone know what know what kind of dumbells he's using?

  • @vSWAGGERv Powerblocks

  • @vSWAGGERv thnx.

  • Great video!

  • JD knows his stuff. I trust a Physical Therapist over a Body Builder any day. The body is a science. Those body builders have no cardio and only know one movement in the gym, up and down. not real athletes to me. i got more respect for endurance athletes than sacks of meat on stage

  • thanks a lot

  • I'm gonna listen to Jeff on this and save myself some shoulder problems thirty years from now. Better safe than sorry. Thanks for the pointers Jeff!

  • ur face looks tanned

  • just subbed to this channel,, this is definitly what ive been looking for,

  • @gunnuts82 you won't regret it, look at some of his older videos from 2009-2010 :)

  • @gunnuts82 you got a 1/2 chub off dat shit?

he's always informative, no matter what.

  • bodybuilders have been using flys to work the inner part of the chest and get striations and separation longer than jeff has been alive... im pretty sure that whatever science he is talking about, can sometimes not be completely true.

  • @Kolbe95 bodybuilders have also been using flys to create shoulder pain and get surgery's longer than jeff has been alive. check out his inner pec destroyer. it gives you the same thing without the shoulder injuries, unless injuries are your thing.

  • @chopperjones1 ive been lifting weights for a good 10-15 years, i use 140+ lb dumbbells for flys, with the supervision of a friend of mine who is physical therapist and is also a professional bodybuilder and is in his 60s, and i have never pulled my shoulder muscles, and neither has my physical therapist/bodybuilder friend. he's been lifting weights for at least 40 years... no problems. people get injuries because they think they have big balls so they use weight that is way to heavy for them

  • @Kolbe95 Most of them have also been on the juice for that same amount of time.

  • great im gonne try this out in my gym tommorow!

  • 6:16 WOW you look like rocky balboa lol !!!

  • Good to know, now i'll change my chest fly's a better way instead of pulling my chest muscle, iam a runner and dont want to bulk up just want stay toned and fit and maybe alittle muscle building,i will check out you website for more info,Thanks for posting awesome info,Michael

  • Great video again!.You've meantioned that you train MMA guys so can you please show us some excersizes for increasing punching strength and speed?

  • Hey Jeff, you're doing gr8 work. Coming up with new exercises and also explaining the logic behind those. You're a pro physical therapist, taking time out of your busy schedule to help us get in better shape.

Totally agree with your 'chest fly' video :) Request you to post a video on outer side pecs. My outer side pecs looks really out of shape when doing a front double biceps pose. Thanks!

  • "Not just look like a meatbag upon the stage" I love that comment. And I'm glad that you telling the truth. Beacause it's many people who are training and looking up to this guys like ronney coleman and so on. I'm not impressed by this guys. If some people wanna offer their body and their health and buy their muscles threw steroids its okey for me but I cant understand whats the point is by doing this. Why cant we just take 1 step ahead each day and know we gonna reach the goal some day!

  • is the stretch same as if you do a normal wide grip on an Incline bench? and i think your method will gimme shoulder pain cause it resembles a "dip". please correct me if im wrong.

  • 50000 supply of sth else . hahahaha

  • Hey Jeff,

In one of your older chest workout videos you did a sort of upside-down (hope it's the right term) flies with your elastic bands. Why is that OK and regular flies are not?

  • Comment removed

  • i disliked this video for no reason. CALL ME A BITCH SEE WHAT HAPPENDS!

  • What't the point of the 'box' looking dumbbells, is it to correct your wrist grip?

  • Hey jeff i was wondering if you could send a promoter of athleanx to australia as it would be a great way of revolutionising the way people workout and also the RX supplements would also be a massive hit

    thx

    Brian

  • Seems to me like you could get the same benefits from the exercise in the second half of this video by doing pushups with arms tucked in to the side and your hands plated on the floor facing backwards (planche style). Would this be an accurate assumption?

(for people who don't have a bench and/or heavy enough dumbells)
