Following up with a sequel to one of the most beloved games to date and completely changing every aspect that made the original so popular took balls, and I give credit to Square for wanting to create a completely new world for the series. That said, it was a very flawed game.. Emotionally, it was cold and distant. It was missing that "something" that made Trigger so amazing.
I want to chime in my two cents regarding Cross and Trigger.
For me, Trigger is a timeless, priceless piece of gaming that will be remembered and cherished as one of the greatest and most epic adventures of all time. It's one of the rare pieces of entertainment that transports me back to a specific place and time of my life, and is an experience that I will fondly remember until the day I die.
I'm not going to be like everyone else and say "Derp 6 people meant dis i like" or something like that, but I honestly can't understand why someone would hit the dislike button.
One of the best songs in the entire game! I loved this game from start to finish! Easily the best game on the super nintendo, and one of the best video games/RPGs ever made.

Cross -is- a sequel, it takes place years after Trigger, it even has Masamune, Crono, Marle, and Lucca in it. Heck you go back in time and visit Lucca's house with Gato and everything! It's a true-blooded sequel to Chrono Trigger. Heck Lucca's drawing is in the opening! I hate Chrono Cross and I can't ever say it enough. Trigger is my childhood!

There's 45 playable characters in Chrono Cross, with their own miniquests and reactions to the game's events, but most of them are not memorable or important.

(Way I see it, selling around $900,000 for a game you've remade 50 times with no updates is a freaking miracle that not even Ocarina Of Time has pulled so why can't they accept it is just as popular? As a standalone game it would be great. As a sequel to Trigger it's insulting. Trigger just set the bar way too high.
@TheTKC No, the intro part of this theme never played in-game. That makes Frog's Theme pretty unique among video game themes! I can't think of another theme that never played fully in-game.

Frog has always and will always be in my team due to the fact that his theme is amazing, I love his story on how he became a frog, and of course his sword is amazing! I knew you would eventually get this song on your list since you've had so many other Chrono Trigger themes. Every song in this game is amazing and I love every single aspect of this game. Once again Supra you are awesome and thank you for this absolutely amazing upload from an equally amazing game!

I'm responding because I've tried to stay calm but seriously, what is the point of being on this video bitching about a game you hate rather than recalling good times with the game the video is about? Cross got falsely advertised as a sequel when it's more of a spin off. Please, just stop, & enjoy the music.

@Arc13 It's not a new entry and SE KNOWS it's it. They just remade it on DS to see if it would sell because they knew that CT > CC. Cross -is- a sequel, it takes place years after Trigger, it even has Masamune, Crono, Marle, and Lucca in it. Heck you go back in time and visit Lucca's house with Gato and everything! It's a true-blooded sequel to Chrono Trigger. Heck Lucca's drawing is in the opening! I hate Chrono Cross and I can't ever say it enough. Trigger is my childhood!

@genesisSOC Even the creators of the Chrono series proved your statements wrong. It's pretty apparent when the creator of the series says, "Cross is Cross, and not Trigger 2" and "we didn't want to directly extend Chrono Trigger into a sequel, but create a new Chrono with links to the original". Chrono Trigger was great for it's time but it still wasn't even the best RPG on the SNES and it certainly doesn't stand up to Cross when viewed by anyone who isn't a blinded Trigger fanboy.

@assgoblin2damax Chrono Cross is certainly not the "best RPG on the Playstation" either, but that's not the point. The point is that Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger are both considered classics because they are the most innovative and most unique RPGs - pushing the envelope of technology for their time, and providing an experience that no one else ever came close to achieving.

@assgoblin2damax See, the thing is that for all of Chrono Cross' amazing achievements, it has not stood the test of time as well as Trigger has. Cross is still a classic from the PS1 but few people actually remember why. I played the hell out of that game, and it's hard to really remember what made it different, aside from the spellcasting system. With Chrono Trigger, it was clearly the story and the events from the game that truly stand out.

@assgoblin2damax Let's take the example from the music we're listening to now. Frog's valorous theme, one of the most memorable from this game. When you hear it, it should bring an image of a frog-man with a big ol' sword cleaving a mountain in half in his quest. He's memorable, well designed, and has meaning to the story. There's 45 playable characters in Chrono Cross, with their own miniquests and reactions to the game's events, but most of them are not memorable or important.

@assgoblin2damax The creators of the Chrono series proved my statements RIGHT. They wanted to change it so drastically different from Trigger, to "fix what's not broken," and because of it, Cross sold terribly and it's BECAUSE of that choice that Chrono is now dead. Trigger is DEFINITELY the best RPG on the SNES, with FF6 being a close runner up, as well as Super Mario RPG. But Trigger is the second best game of all time, many gamers understand that. Cross doesn't stand up to Trigger at all,

@Arc13 Believe you me, I WANT another Chrono. Knowing they'd have a money additude toward things with the DS version, I got 5 copies to help with it's sales. However by about $100 thousand FF4 for DS beat it, so it's uncertain... (Way I see it, selling around $900,000 for a game you've remade 50 times with no updates is a freaking miracle that not even Ocarina Of Time has pulled so why can't they accept it is just as popular? Hate to admit it, but they have turned ultra greedy...)

@DracXBelmont Not one likeable character in a cast of 30ish, a boring, tiny world full of absurd character and environment designs that make a mockery of the original setting, depressing cameos that don't act anything like their original selves, a potentially decent battle system dragged down by inconsistent skills, and the music, while good, can't even touch Trigger's shadow.
As a standalone game it would be great. As a sequel to Trigger it's insulting. Trigger just set the bar way too high.

@TheTKC No, the intro part of this theme never played in-game. That makes Frog's Theme pretty unique among video game themes! I can't think of another theme that never played fully in-game.

Frog has always and will always be in my team due to the fact that his theme is amazing, I love his story on how he became a frog, and of course his sword is amazing! I knew you would eventually get this song on your list since you've had so many other Chrono Trigger themes. Every song in this game is amazing and I love every single aspect of this game. Once again Supra you are awesome and thank you for this absolutely amazing upload from an equally amazing game!
