why? something wrong with death metal? it beats the shit out of deathcore and metalcore any day and there are plenty of deathcore and metalcore bands that i enjoy and consider great bands. for the most part my favorite genre is fusion like shawn lane, guthrie govan, buckethead, marco sfogli, kiko loureiro, etc. i love out of the box playing. basically anything that i HAVEN'T heard millions of times before.

@Fluffypopcicle lol, i find MOST death is just blast beats, i kinda take it back tho, Postmortem Promises is one of my fave bands :/. but i just think there's more room for variety in other genres, like Miss May I (idk if what you consider them) well whatever, its all personal preference. Death is just not my favorite genre because of the lack of talent in most of the bands. i will admit that there are some very good death bands, harder to come by tho. and the fans make me mad, MOST are ignorant

the one thing that will definitely agree on is that most of the death metal fans are VERY ignorant and close minded. thankfully we have guys like InfidelAmsterdam to set them straight. i suggest you look further into the world of death metal, there is only a lack of variety if you just stick with brutal death metal. there is also technical death metal like the faceless, progressive death metal like death and opeth, and melodic death metal like mors principium est.

one other band i would HIGHLY suggest checking out is the contortionist. the name sound like a brutal death metal band, but they sound like a cross between djent, technical death metal, and melodic death metal.

flourish and vessel are their 2 best songs imo, but they're all great. i also suggest you not listen to pure by mors principium est as an introduction because that song sucks. listen to life in black instead.
