  • oh man, the dialogs were kind of stupid!! how did write the script for this??? the words were there..but in the wrong order.

Thor was much better. MUCH MUCH BETTER.

  • i hope if they make a sequel they'll put in some other lanterns from other planets like the color blue, red, and etc. lol

  • Yet to see this one Jay. From the trailers it looks good but hearing mixed reviews. I'm personally looking forward to the man of steel in 2012. Hope they do a great job of it. Only the best for superman!!!. Great job Jay, your the best, Buzz.

  • Great review! I really did enjoy the movie, and I'm also a huge fan of the comic books. You can watch my review of "Green Lantern" as well as "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" on my YouTube channel right now. Feel free to rate and comment.

Keep the great reviews coming my friend!

    Best regards

    MFN Studios.

  • @mfnstudioschannel

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it , and I will check yours out soon :) Have a great weekend my friend

  • Rotten tomatoes gave it much higher than a 2/10. The percentage you see listed is the percentage of critics who gave it a thumbs up. There's a big difference.

  • @bluechipnl

At the time it was 20% and that is a flawed rating system.

  • Only good thing I found about the movie is Sinestro & Hector Hammond. Other then that, I found it a lousy super-hero movie.

  • Ok you enjoyed Green Lantern and it shows. Spiderman is proper shit, Batman is the Daddy out them all. Seven i thought you would of gone 9 or 10

  • Ok you enjoyed Green Lantern and it shows

  • the lame thing about 3d is that its been around since even a little before 50s. and to tell the truth its a gimmick and only makes u pay more :P wat the 3ds can do though, i wonder if that can be done with film

  • The Spider-man Trilogy was epic, SM2 was the best I agree and I agree SM3 could of been better but in my opinion SM3 is actually at a tie with the original. I really followed Spider man comics as a kid along with browsing others. I think Spider-man has always been my favorite next to Batman but I really think that the green Lantern could become #3 after watching this movie. I love Ryan Rynalds I'm glad he is branching out. 3D is just a fad it kinda seems like an every 20yr sell job by Hollywood.

  • Good review man, i havent seen it yet but ill definitely give it a shot

  • Saw it in 2d since I've made sure to not watch another 3d movie since Avatar since I'm hoping to God the fad dies a horrible death soon. As far as the movie I wasn't really a fan of it at all which sucks since I'm a huge comic book geek. I liked Ryan Reynolds in the lead role and Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond but thought pretty much everyone else was forgettable. i thought large sections of the movie were cheesy, and Hal's crisis came on WAY too suddenly.

  • 3D o and i love it

  • The 3D wasn't too bad I suppose. It was pretty cool. I loved the movie personally. Great review man

  • @HALFTHEMIKE

Thanks for the support, Im glad you enjoyed it, I wish more people would give it a chance, it was a lot of fun, very entertaining.

  • I saw it, picked up steam towards the end. So I guess a sequel is happening

  • @Andrew51287

Well according to what Ive read Warner bros already set up the works for 2 more movies , but a lot of movies get made then they never release them so who knows. I do admit there was a lull in the action in the middle , they overdid it with character development , romance, origins. That being said I still thought it was an above average comic book movie.

What would you rate it out of 10 ? You don't have to agree with me, I won't be offended :p

  • @Absolutesublime1 probably a 6 but I was really hoping for a solid 8

  • 2D, and Loved it more then the overrated 'Dark Knight'

  • @Hadam10Rose

You just became my new best friend :p

I am so with you on Dark Knight, I think it might be the most overrated movie ever. Heath Ledger's performance was legendary, but take that out and it was just a bunch of explosions, and the movie just dragged on towards the end. It barely felt like batman was even in the movie, he was so overshadowed by the joker and two face. So many young kids are calling Dark Knight the greatest movie ever, it's shocking.

  • Awesome review Jay!!

I am looking forward to checking out The Green Lantern.

  • @Rhine1988

Thanks Justin my friend, how have you been?

Let me know what you think of Green Lantern when you see it.

  • @Absolutesublime1 I'm great. How are you? I am looking forward to seeing the film.

  • @Rhine1988

I'm doing well, always good to hear from you Justin. Gotta keep the positivity in the community going!

  • @TheDriveInDead

The critics are preventing fans from watching this which is a real shame. The movie isn't perfect, it isn't going to win an oscar and if you are expecting "The Star Wars of comic book movies", then your expectations are too high, no movie can live up to that. The bottom line is if you want to see a fun action packed comic book movie with great character development and storyline, then you should definitely see this. It's great entertainment!

  • Love two guys a girl and a pizza place and I definitely wanna see this movie!! I hated the spiderman movies besides the second as well and rotten tomatoes does suck... they always under rate everything!

  • i hope 3d is a fad... what are your thoughts?

  • @TheNumber2Pencil546

I hope so too, its just a way to get more money from consumers

  • I still dig DC more, more dark and dangerous. Glad you liked it man, yeah it was a fun pop corn flick. Yeah cant wait to see this thing on blu-ray. I was suprised the score for the film wasnt that epic, my only big let down.

  • @theFLICKpick

See I think Marvel is darker and more dangerous, besides Batman, what DC comics were dark and dangerous? I liked Dark Horse, Image, Valiant comics back in the day too, which were darker for sure.

Everyone keeps crapping on it, and I hear people say they were expecting the Star Wars of comic book movies, that's part of the problem, no movie can match those expectations. It was an enjoyable, action packed comic book movie.

  • @theFLICKpick

I liked the score personally, it reminded me of some other comic book movie scored. My biggest issue was the dreary color scheme, so much gray and black throughout.

  • Have u seen Buried which came out last year and stars Ryan Renolds. if you have seen it what did youo think of it because i personally thought it was awesome!

  • @crunch2k

I have seen Buried with Ryan Reynolds, I thought it was unique, definitely something different, and it had some good suspense and I always hear people complain about the ending, but I appreciated the ending, it wasn't the cheap typical cliche ending, that being said I'm not sure how much rewatchability value it has.

I definitely like Ryan Reynolds as an actor, he deserves to get more serious roles as well.

    What would rate Buried?

  • i saw it in 3d . and 3d is ok but they didnt use it . like i paid 2 dollers for the same thing

  • @hunter12555

3d seems way overrated and a ploy to get more money from people

  • Sounds like a good movie to watch at the drive in

  • @dgnr8fox

They have a drive in by you?! That's awesome! I wish they had one near me

  • @Absolutesublime1 They have three within a two hour drive from me. One about 1/2 hr away. I grew up with them and summer weekends watching movies under the stars

  • @dgnr8fox

That's awesome! I'm jealous I wish they had some near me! That is the way to see movies, under the stars!

Hey Filip, have you seen Battle Los Angeles?

  • @Absolutesublime1 Not yet.. I just hope it isn't as bad as skyline turned out to be

  • @dgnr8fox

I haven't seen Skyline myself, but have heard so much negative about it. I don't think I've heard a single positive review for Skyline.

  • Great review Jay. I still wanna see this movie

  • @MrRamone420

Thanks Chris, how have you been? If you check it out let me know what you think of it, even if you disagree with me :p Did you have a fun weekend?

  • @MrRamone420 This movie was TERRIBLE in every possible way.

The story ( full of basic plotholes)

    The editing - terrible.

The cast-- EVERYONE was either miscast or just pointless.

The CGI -- Speed racer bad.

OA and The corps was the best thing of the movie and it was only on screen for maybe 15 min at most.

THERE WILL BE NO SEQUEL........ there wasnt a sequel to Superman Retunrs and that made more money.

    REBOOT in 2015.

  • @masonTganes

I can use caps too; THERE WILL BE A SEQUEL! Not a reboot

The cast was great, the editing could have used improvement, the story and character development were on point. The CGI was decent, definitely better than speed racer.

Actually Superman Returns made LESS money. Opening weekend for Superman Returns ; Opening Weekend: $52,535,096 USA

Opening weekend for Green Lantern USA ;$53,174,303

    FAIL

It's a fun popcorn flick,a better than average comic book movie

  • @masonTganes

And a heck of a lot better than the TERRIBLE Superman Returns!

  • @masonTganes

Also, and most importantly Superman Returns was so bad they rebooted the Superman series.

Superman Man Of Steel is set for 2012.

  • @MrRamone420

I can use caps too; THERE WILL BE A SEQUEL! Not a reboot

  • @MrRamone420

Oops sorry that last comment was for the other guy who commented to you, my bad

  • The flick seems to be badly edited, as if they swapped scene's.

The script was also a mess, again with the reluctant hero which takes way too much time...but Reynolds does fit the role as does Marc Strong.

The beginning and the ending are the best, the middle part was filler.

I had hoped for this flick to be the Star Wars of superhero movies but sadly, the Green Lantern Corps and Oa are severely under used....

  • @Samplelord OMG YES FINILY

  • @Samplelord

I thought the script was well done personally and thought they put forth a lot of origin, character development, actually a little too much really. I do see what you mean about the editing though, I wonder if the dvd/blu ray release will have a "director's or extended" cut with more footage and scenes. I wasn't expecting the Star Wars of superhero movies, those expectations were too high. I was hoping for just what it was a fun comic book popcorn movie.

  • @Absolutesublime1

The cast and crew called the flick "The Star Wars Of Comic Book Movies" and the second trailer did have that vibe...lets hope they get it right with part deux...

  • @Samplelord

I'm thinking the sequel will be more action packed and entertaining

  • @Absolutesublime1

It's not that I want more action, this was another reluctant hero origin story...I want too see a superhero flick without the cry baby semantics....

Cuz realy, if any one of us would get superpowers, most of us would be overjoyed....

    PS

I doubt there will be a part 2, the flick cost around 300 mil, and the BO returns have been very weak.

But if they do, more Green Lantern Core, less human weepy stuff, more Oa, more space, and a better villian...

    and keep Reynolds....

  • @Samplelord

Yeah, the reluctant hero does seem to be a staple with superhero movies . Of course if we had superpowers we would be overjoyed but would we put our butt on the line to possibly die?

I only mention the sequel because I read Warner Bros already has plans for 2 more movies. That being said many movies get scrapped even after filming, so who knows for sure at this point but I'd love to see a sequel.

Sinestro would probably be the main villain if they go for the sequel.

  • @Absolutesublime1

Wel....we have every day Joe's and Jane's who have dangerous job's...

I'm a scaffold builder, working long hours and a great distance up in the air, lost a few co workers through the years who fell down..

And of course cops, paramedics, firemen, army...etc

That's why I don't like the reluctant hero, if you cant handle responsibilities as an adult chances are you never will...and in real life there is no character arc, at least not within 25 min.

    But's thats me...

  • @Samplelord

I'm sorry for the loss of your coworkers , it takes a lot of guts to do a job like that. I wish you and your coworkers continued safety.

  • @Samplelord

I think with overseas returns it will make it's money back and then some. It made $53.6 mil for the opening weekend in the US alone. By the time it's out of theaters here it will have made a projected $160 mil and that's just the US. If overseas sales match that which I think it will and probably more so then it shouldn't be an issue.

The film industry these days are very fickle, there aren't traditional blockbusters with staying power like there used to be.

  • @Absolutesublime1

I agree with that...but look at Superman Returns, it made some profit and yet they rebooted it because the critical reception was pretty bad.

But yeah.... the industry is extremely fickle, so at this point I'm just guessing at GL's future..

I would like to see a sequel that would take the story into space for the whole movie...

  • @Samplelord

That would be an interesting concept to have the whole movie in space or on oa

  • @Samplelord

Oh and where did you hear the budget was 300 mil? On imdb it has the budget at 150 mil estimated, and on wikipedia it has it at 200 mil. So an extra 100 mil seems like a drastic jump but I tried searching for the budget and those were the main frame I kept getting.

  • @Absolutesublime1

the 300 mil is the total cost

:Pre production, production , post production ( this is were they pumped rough 80 mil after the bad reception of the 1st trailer) and marketing which got the most extra cash to hype the movie.

It's a rough figure but total is around 300 mil...I think I read a production report on the Screen Rant site, I'm not sure...and they might be wrong of coarse.

let's just say it will have to do some big business to warrant a sequel.

  • Yeah Im more of a Marvel guy myself. ...Even though I am Batman.

  • @JoeBird76

    I'm Batman! :p

  • I am an avid comic book reader and I find that most comic book movies are either really good or really bad. I didn't really like this film at all and I am a Green Lantern fan. Ryan Reynolds, although a good actor, basically played himself rather than trying to personify Hal Jordan. Blake Lively was just terrible and her scenes with Reynolds were the worst in the film. I also really hated the way that they chose to represent the Guardians. I thought Sinestro was well done but that was about it.

  • @Hologram1357

Well it's all subjective. I personally thought it was a well done movie , and I keep hearing everyone rip on Blake Lively, I didn't think she was that bad at all, certainly better than most female counterparts in comic book movies, and a heck of a lot better than the Megan Fox types lately. I enjoyed the Guardians, and wish there were a bit more of them. The sequel should be more entertaining, and it should be more enjoyable for mainstream viewers.

  • I embrace your geekeness. BTW I bought that Garbage Pail Kids Tee Shirt, and it's on it's way! :-D

  • @floyd75dylan

    Thanks :p

Oh yeah? Awesome! Did you get the same one as mine? I think you'll love it. I love mine, it's one of my favorite shirts. Let me know when you get it

  • This review sold me, I'll be sure to check it out! Thanks for the recommendation! You looking forward to Captain America?

  • @HappyBirthdayPaulie

The critics are preventing fans from watching this which is a real shame. The movie isn't perfect, it isn't going to win an oscar and if you are expecting "The Star Wars of comic book movies", then your expectations are too high, no movie can live up to that. The bottom line is if you want to see a fun action packed comic book movie with great character development and storyline, then you should definitely see this. It's great entertainment!

  • @HappyBirthdayPaulie

Honestly I'm not a fan of Chris Evans being Captain America, but the last few pics and clips that have come out for Captain America has heightened my interest in it.

  • It was no masterpiece and it had it's flaws, but it's a lot better than the critics said. It's not trying to be the Dark Knight, it;s just trying to be a lot of fun.

  • @maxonfire67

  • i liked spider man 1 part 2 was way to much of a love story for me nice review.

  • @matt11708

Thanks for the support. What did you think of Spiderman 3 ?

  • @Absolutesublime1 was ok but it was not the best movie ever.

  • Great Review Jay havent seen it yet..i dont like 3d, it depends on the movie cuz now a days they kind of just add some random 3d scenes just to say its 3d and draw in more viewers...btw ur an awesome dork ;)

  • @spr12cr

Thanks for the support, you rock! And thanks for appreciating my dorkiness :p

I think 3d is just a ploy to get more money from consumers. That being said people continue to spend money on 3d so studios keep putting them out there.

  • I always feel awkward being the last person in the seats to see if there is a credit at the end, but I pay for that shit so I do it.

  • @Andrew51287

    Very true!

  • so if I go into this blind because I never read the comics, etc would I enjoy it? I like explanations more than just action, so maybe I will.

  • @Andrew51287

Yes, you don't have to be a fan of the comics to enjoy it, in fact I find when people are big fans of the comic or book of which a movie was adapted their expectations are let down. It is an adaptation it isn't going to be exactly the same. I try not to compare the two.

The action is Green Lantern is plot driven and it has great character development. I hope you like it, let me know either way what you think of it.

  • I saw this last weekend and I really enjoyed it I would give it a 10 out of 10 because Ryan Reynolds put a great effort into his role and the supporting cast members really helped him out really well this is definitely something for movie fans to go and check out and I don't know why it got poor reviews there was nothing wrong with it the film was an enjoyable and entertaining film to go watch so I recommend this film to everybody. :)

  • @HorrorFan34

AWESOME! So glad to hear that!

  • @Absolutesublime1 totally agree100% with you Jay!

  • @HorrorFan34

Awesome, great minds think alike ;)

  • this movie looked hit and miss for me

That being said it's all subjective

  • @Absolutesublime1 i am more of a batman spider man kind of guy and the movie looks way to cgi like everything was done on a green screen

  • @matt11708

That's fair, I think the cgi worked for this one, Im typically not a fan of overused cgi. The one thing that I didnt care for with Green Lantern was the overall dreary color scheme of the movie, to much gray and black throughout.

What did you think of the X-Men Movies and Watchmen?

  • @Absolutesublime1 x men 1 and 2 are good part 3 is ok and watchmen is long but not bad

  • This has been getting a lot not so good reviews so i'm glad to see your positive review of it. I will be seeing the film this weekend. Great vid.

  • @captainstrangelife

  • @captainstrangelife

Thanks for the support, let me know what you think of it when you see it

  • I might watch it when it hits Blu-ray, just because I don't like Ryan Reynolds. He annoys me.

  • @owenneil

That's fair, that is probably going to be the same reason that I wait on Captain America, I can't stand Chris Evans and think he is a horrible choice for Captain America, however I seem to be in the minority in that opinion.

  • Great review, can't wait to see this movie

  • @Mmaretti666

  • I love them all equally I mean

  • @morningbeverage

    Gotcha, even Spiderman 3?

  • @Absolutesublime1 Especially Spiderman 3

  • This was the first positive review I've heard for this movie so far. Every other review I've read or watched for this movie said it was absolutely terrible. But even though it's getting mixed reviews, it just doesn't look like the kind of movie that I'll enjoy. Can't wait for Captain America. Oh, and I love all of the Spider-man movie in different ways.

  • @morningbeverage

The critics are preventing fans from watching this which is a real shame. • @morningbeverage

The first few clips and pics Ive seen of Captain American I wasn't thrilled with and personally I'm not a fan of Chris Evans being Cap. That being said the last few pics/clips Ive seen have heightened my interest.

  • Clancy Brown of Highlander fame does the voice for Parallax :D

  • @beatenanddismembered

Yes he does, apparently he is doing voice work for an upcoming Transformers and Thundercats tv show.

  • I must see this movie

  • @Katfellow

If you check it out, let me know what you think of it :) It's not perfect by any means, but it is a fun action packed comic book movie with great character development and storyline.

  • I liked the movie despite all the crap it was getting from different sites like rotten tomatoes or ign. plus i watched it in 2d since i saw that it was post production 3d but i did hear it was the best post production 3d out of all of them. i think if 3d is to catch on, they need to film the movies ready for 3d instead of post production. can't wait for the sequel too and don't mind the after/during credits stuff. good things come to those who wait haha.

  • @CB54321

  • @CB54321

I think the sequel will be more action packed and will suit more mainstream audiences.

  • I plan to see this soon. I too will wear my Green Lantern shirt. Mine is a little darker than yours.

  • @ChillPilgrim1138

Awesome, let me know what you think of it when you see it. I'm glad I wasn't the only one to wear the shirt :p

  • This is the first positive review of this movie I've heard. I do enjoy my comic book movies, so I'll probably give it a shot. I liked the first Spider-Man, especially for Willem DeFoe's performance, loved the second one, and didn't really care for the third one. Personally, I sit through the credits with every movie I watch anyway (weird, I know), as I'm always on the look out for cast and crew I recognize. Great review, sir!

  • @thecollector1138

The critics are preventing fans from watching this which is a real shame. Thanks for the support!

  • @thecollector1138

Now I sit through the credits for everything as well ha with so many after or mid credit scenes I always feel like I'm going to miss one

  • i assumed green lantern was gonna suck judging by the trailers but i'll definitely watch it eventually. i'm really looking forward to captain america =] can't wait til that comes out! and as far as 3-d goes, i personally don't like it. unless they start making 3-d movies where it looks like stuff is actually coming out into the audience, like you can touch it...i won't be interested.

  • @jilliana27123

I personally can't stand the choice of Chris Evans for Captain America, he just has too much of a pretty boy look to him for me to picture him as Cap. 3d is just a ploy to get more money from consumers. That being said, people keep spending money on 3d so studios will keep pumping them out.

I think you will only like Green Lantern if you like comic book style movies, this is better than the average, great character development and storyline, but it's all subjective.

  • I thought GL was alright 4 what it was, but had I known Parallax was going 2 be such an integral part of the film, I wouldn't have bothered going.

I also agree w/ u on Spidey2 being the best of the three, & now w/ the reboot we don't have 2 put up w/ Kirsten Dundst's borderline hookerish performances.

btw..I also have that GL shirt, although at the time I was wearing a Marvel All Stars shirt (no comics solidarity :-) )

    anyway, cool review, Ab1.

  • @pmknight12

Oh lord was Kirsten Dundst terrible, it's like she was a drunk prostitute! and Tobey Maguire was awful, he never showed any emotion in his face or voice, it was absurd, comically bad. I was so excited for Spiderman 3 and it was such a monumental let down! I am so glad they are rebooting it.

Great taste in shirts! is the marvel all stars shirt the one with all their faces?

Thanks for the support, hope you have a great week!

  • @Absolutesublime1 Naw. This was a blacl tee, which was like a medium range shot, feat. about 14 characters. Among them; Collosus, Silver Surfer, Thor, Nick Fury, etc.

    Phil

  • @pmknight12

Sounds pretty cool! I'll have to track one down.

  • I like how you call him Brian Reynolds hahahahah :) Must be Ryans brother.

  • @ascullycom

haha yeah, I realized afterwards I kept saying Bryan instead of Ryan, major flub by me. Funny thing is Ive always enjoyed him as an actor so I cant believe I messed it up. I was overtired though and wasnt going to re-do the video :/

  • Ahhh, you are the only other person I've ever heard talk about "Two Guys a Girl & A Pizza Place" then they switched to "Two Guys & A Girl" I loved that show & they took it off air. I can't find it anywhere. If you see it somewhere please let me know! I found it on Ebay once, but it was 5 or 6 years ago. I'm glad you did a review on "The Green Lantern" because me & my hub was gonna go watch it because our theatre just put in the 3D screens.

You rock! I can never find anyone who has seen Two Guys A Girl & Pizza Place! Once the switched the name and brought on Kelly Slater the show was pretty much done for :/ . It had a bad time slot on an unpopular network, I wish it got better ratings than it did. Very underrated! I think I might have seen it on ioffer before but it's a bootleg. I want an official dvd release darnitt!

Let me know what you think of Green Lantern when you see it. 3d hurts my eyes and head though :/

  • if they improve the quality of the 3d and upgrade the technology then yes i think i could well catch on, but although its a cool alternate i prefer 3d

    nice review

  • @iRideDonkeys1

You mean you prefer 2d? I think that's what you mean, I dunno I'm overtired right now ha maybe I'm reading it incorrectly.

Thanks for the support , hope your week is great

  • well on RT it doesn't mean the site gives it a 2/10 it just means 20% of the critics that saw it and reviewed it liked it. my friend is seeing it today and he's a big fan. After your review and after he tells me his I might consider changing my decision on not seeing it.

  • @BluntIce

Still that is a large margin right there, I'm just not a fan of the site. Initially I wasn't going to see it because the first few trailers didn't appeal to me, but the last couple looked a lot better , and I'm glad I saw it. It wasn't the best comic book movie out there but it is much better than most. The bottom line is if you like comic book movies you should like this, it's a fun popcorn movie, but it does have great character development.

  • Haha, the dorkiness in this video is amazing. Fuck Transformers! I'd rather have a strong story with moments of gorgeous visuals and action. The more I look into the characters featured in GL, the more I want to see the film. Awesome review man! Bryan Reynolds. lol

  • @SiilentMiike

Dorkiness overload in this video :p The characters are so imaginative which is one of the main reasons it drew me in. Thanks broseph! Did you get those shelves together?

Yeah big time fail on the Bryan Reynolds part ha, I was over excited and tired , it happens.

  • @Absolutesublime1 I have a funny story to go along with the shelves and Battle LA bluray. I'll text you.

  • @SiilentMiike

Ah , you got it? I went in and exchanged mine, those bastards :p

  • @SiilentMiike

I just noticed the steelbook I exchanged for has a dent! Ughhh

  • 240p :/

  • @RMCLmaker

    ?

  • @Absolutesublime1 ahh nvm btw 1st and 4th viewer. Thanks loved the review. Did you watch insidiuos yet ?

  • @RMCLmaker

Ah gotcha you meant the quality of the video. Yeah, it was processed fully yet, you caught it as soon as I put it up, takes a bit to get to the hd quality. 1st and 4th viewer, woo hoo! :p Thanks for the support!

I have not seen Insidious yet but I plan to watch it as soon as it hits dvd/blu ray. How was it? I heard a lot of positive reviews for it but it was out of the theaters by me pretty quickly :/

  • @Absolutesublime1 Insidiuos was scary as hell + creepy i liked it and it had a intresting storyline, but the only reason i cant give it a 10/10 because of its cheesyness in some points

  • @RMCLmaker

Gotcha, well I see it comes out to dvd/blu ray July 12th , so I will watch it then. Sounds promising. So you give it a 9/10 then?

  • @RMCLmaker lol it hasn't processed completely
