  • eva is good, even better at their price, really competitive. But incase u are still not satisfied with their service, CX is the best choice to fly to east asia in business/first, if u could afford the tough price. I always fly with cx in economy becoz their services in economy are still awesome, despite the terrible seat during long haul flights. greeting from hkg!

  • @iamdamnhandsome Yes, I'd have to agree with you about EVA and its pricing. very good deal.

  • Thinking of taking EVA Air TPE-PVG in economy. Would you recommend them? I am tempted to go wityh CX TPE-HKG-PVG but it is likely way more expensive knowing CX. ;)

  • @LeeClaxton I think EVa is excelllent. I don't think Cx economy is worth the extra price, nor the extra stopover.

  • So nice to see you post your journey on youtube. Is that you who were speaking Mandarin? Nice job! I wish I can be your travel buddy too :D

  • @anchor79 Unfortunately, it was not me. There were about 95% mandarin-speaking people on the plane, though!

  • omg cant wait till i become a flight attendant I LOVE TRAVELING <3

  • @laceyfable Thank you for your comment! Good luck to you, and I hope you have happy travels!

  • I need to be your traveling buddy! You travel to much! XD

  • @DannyVids11 Yes, maybe you can be my replacement. You're right in that I travel too much!

  • Mistake into list of wine&spirits of EVA AIR business class, under the word SPIRITS we read BARCARDI...wrong...BACARDI light rum, but however great video and nice business class!!!

  • @tranceland78 Thanks for your comment. Good pick up with the spelling!

  • i hope that you took the screwdriver where else can you get bombed and get vitamin c

  • @mrtequilashooter I took the singapore sling instead!

  • nice video!

btw, do they have first class product?

  • @blbl8326 Thank you! No, only a business class product.

  • very nice presentation

  • @nataliedjuhandi1798 Thank you for your nice comment!

  • Taking an EVA/777 to Taipei in a week.

  • @gdgtron Have a great flight!

  • @sfflyer123 You are very kind. That made my [night] :D

Love your videos, by the way!

  • @gdgtron Thanks. You are very kind also! Thanks for your comments!

  • @sfflyer123 No, thank you for making them!

  • Mr.sfflyer123

quick question. premium laurel seats on747 are equipped with AC power???

I know 777 and A330 has AC power with the seats, but no information about 747!

    thanks in advance!

  • @tsunekadai To be honest, I cannot remember? I just relaxed, so I don't know about the power cords. Sorry!

  • @sfflyer123

    thanks anyway!

I might give it a try sometime next year! let's see what they got!

  • how didu fly boeing 747? i thought eva doesnt fly 747 anymore?

  • @domlajoe They actually fly a lot of 747s. They are being phased out, but there are lots of 747s.

  • @sfflyer123 what route tho?

  • @domlajoe I believe TPE-HKG, which is what I flew and SFO-TPE. Could be others I don't know about.

  • plus jet

  • and food

  • next time you fly internationaly first or buissness class try delta i want tonseewhat there service is like

  • @FS98FSX I will see if I can get Delta. I have heard good thigns about it!

  • Great video :) im off to HKG nxt month with CX

  • @777cpt Nice. thanks for the comment, and have a great flight!

  • I only fly economy and elite class in Eva airline .

Business class is much better with a cost

  • @tratnguyen I think the elite class is very nice on Eva. It's a great premium economy product. It's almost as good as business, but much less expensive. Thank you for the comment!

  • hello my friend! your videos are great but I want suggest you one thing. I would love to see your trips in economy class. take videos like these in the economy class or in business class in small planes like A320! they would be good! sorry if i made any mistake in my english!

  • @panathare100 Okay, I will do this in economy also!

  • @sfflyer123 really great work! we don't want you to stop putting videos! there are fantastic!

  • @panathare100 Thank you very much! It is a fun hobby for me!

  • nice video I will have to change planes in that airport and was nervous but it looks like a calm airport

  • @angelapeanut Thank you!

  • Don't think the flight from SFO to TPE takes 14 hours. Only 12 hours max.

  • @KatiushaVN4 You are correct. It's actually 12 hours and 52 minutes, close to 13 hours. But with taxiing and waiting time, it comes out to around 14 hours (it's what EVA posts it as). Thanks for clarifying!

  • Do you fly alot just for the heck of it or for business?

  • @thetitanicisdead Business of course!

  • @maxRAFavfc after. thanks!

  • how do ou film ur videos mr. sfflyer23? do you use a hidden camera??

  • @ECHOdavidoff No hidden camera. Just a regular canon pocket powershot.

  • watching your video at 130am made me all HUNGRY !! I liked the food offering at TPE BR Lounge but I hated their shower room. IT was a MESS :P

  • @anchor79 Thank you for your comment. Yes, the food is very nice in TPE. I did not visit their shower room, though. Thank you for your comment.

  • Why didn't you take the direct Cathay flight?

  • @scvs2 Good question. I did not because it was about $3000 more expensive!

  • Except Maoist China would be red. Green is the color of the Taiwanese DPP, who are stridently against reunification :)

(Which is not to say that EVA is pro-DPP; the Evergreen Group has been around decades longer than the DPP)

  • @bubbledoubletrouble Good point! Thanks.

  • Well not sounding like a total pervert if i can get one alone and start some small talk hopefully get her or them on video ;)

  • @19bootsy68 You should do it. They will love your British accent!

  • sfflyer i keep on coming back to look at this video...i've already picked my seats via the Eva site...i noticed you could pick a seat to sit in 100 days before you fly and very soon i can order my meals for the flight...i asked the Chinese woman at my local Chinese take away was congee nice?...her reply was "Mark you only get Gravy and chips (fries) from here nothing else..just gravy and chips" she knows gravy and chips is my favourite Chinese food...hehe..anyway im going to try this Congee ;)

  • @19bootsy68 Hi Bootsy. That is great that you have picked your seats. I would say that you can pre-order your food, but you can also select from the menu like on a regular business class flight. The food that they have on the menu is quite excellent. So I would only pre-order if there is something special you want. Congee is standard, so you shouldn't have to pre-order that. The western cuisine is quite excellent. My chicken was delicious, so if you want western food, go for it!

  • @sfflyer123 Yes i think i will just wait until i fly out...i must say from the food that i've seen on their website it all looks very delicious...im really looking forward flying with Eva now...and my connection flight is with Thai on a B747.400 which i hope is not their older business class seats...it's been a number of years since i've been on a B747.400...it seems to be all B777.300's im on so im looking forward to that as well. :)

  • @19bootsy68 Bootsy, will you do a trip report? We would all love to see it if you do. I would like to see the Thai business class experience also if you can show it. Are you going to Bangkok?

  • @sfflyer123 Yes i will video everything...the Thai flight is only an domestic flight an hour and a bit..im doing NCL-LHR-BKK-HKT two of them are short flights..

  • @19bootsy68 I am looking forward to it. Perhaps you can do some flirting with the flight attendants like homer does, and video tape it. Those are the best parts!

  • @sfflyer123 Flirting?....i would need to fly to Germany and see the blackbelt in flirting...the man with a degree in flirtology....the man whom could con any rich single woman out of her life savings...and that man is....HOMER....our favourite German friend....all joking aside i tried to get some Qatar FA's on my DOH to BKK video since the business class was empty and the rules stated to me from the flight supervisor was it was company policy not to video any of the Qatar airline staff :(

  • @19bootsy68 See if you can do it on EVA. They are all young girls who are flight attendants on EVA. They may respond very well to you!

  • @sfflyer123 I hope my English accent works with the L.A. women when im over there next month..i will speak in Ye Olde English.....OK i will get some hot young Eva Air chick on my flight video in October for you and Homer and maybe a Thai one on the Thai flight ;)

  • Great video!!!

  • @kevinc1218 Thank you very much!

  • FRUIT FRUIT FRUIT FRUIT FRUIT FRUIT FRUIT WTF?!?!?! lol its everywhere XDDDDDDDDD

  • @papilovenhox They love fruit on EVA.

  • My dad flies every month and is sick of it! Don't you ever get tired?

  • @MEGIDIOT Yes, I agree. If you fly too much, it is too painful! I agree with you!

  • EVA Air Should bring their New Business Class to Manila

  • @EpicThe112 Agree. They have a nice new business product.

  • @sfflyer123 I am pretty sure that your B747 operates the Taipei-Manila route.

  • @EpicThe112 That will be nice. They may not want to because it's a short haul flight, but it would be nice if they did it.

  • what about a jack and coke or just a glass of milk with dinner?

  • @Midnightryder7 Good thoughts, but I am a red wine guy myself!

  • i think it's kinda weird, sitting in the nose of a747

  • @wisnu1231 Yes, it is. but it is awesome.

  • @sfflyer123 because you were not sitting directly facing forward

  • where is the landing?

  • @wisnu1231 None on this video.

  • Have to say that for the money they charge it is very good value and the lounges are good. However the seats really are an issue for a good nights sleep. On holiday with my family it's not a big issue, but on business trips I can't catch up so easily on sleep lost so I had to switch airlines

  • @Traderwick This is an excellent point. I agree with you about this completely.

  • May I ask what gate is this? G94? Cause they fly 777-300ERs now servicing SFO-TPE at G101

  • @MusicLover11325 Sorry, but I don't remember!

  • @MusicLover11325 The 777-300 ERs are used for the 4:00 PM flights. The 747s are used for the 1:00 AM flights.

  • @awangj1 Actually, EVA BR27 departs at 5:50 PM EVA BR17 departs at 1 AM. They both have 777-300ERs as their equipments

  • @MusicLover11325 Strange. I flew on their 747-400 to Taipei just this past April (as BR17).

  • @awangj1 Yea, strange, I know for a fact they use 747s as BR17. But i guess they change?

  • @MusicLover11325 They changed to Boeing 777-300ERs for BR 7, BR 17, and BR 27 SFO - TPE (thankfully). It is almost rare to see them use a Boeing 747-400 Combi for that now. In fact I live in San Francisco and go plane-spotting every now and then that's my observations.

  • @awangj1 They changed to Boeing 777-300ERs for BR 7, BR 17, and BR 27 SFO - TPE (thankfully). It is almost rare to see them use a Boeing 747-400 Combi for that now. In fact I live in San Francisco and go plane-spotting every now and then that's my observations.

  • @MusicLover11325 They always go to G101A. Only once I've deboarded flight 18 at Gate G102.

  • Respond to this video... And another time back in 2007 I had a flight BR 17 747-400 Combi from Gate G98, but starting in 2010 I had 777s

  • sigh... wish i had the money to fly business :-| one day, people. one day.

  • @letsbefriendz Good luck to you. I hope you will do it. The way I mainly do it however, is not with money. I use miles. I just save up enough, and then I use the miles to get into business class. That is the move!

  • sfflyer123...i said i was going to fly premium economy from LHR to BKK but im really thinking about just flying business now..to hell with it i will try premium economy another day.

  • @19bootsy68 Nice. I hope you enjoy it. I have not flown Eva's premium economy. I do want to try it one day, however.

  • @sfflyer123 I was looking on Oman Air website and their business class looks one of the best business class cabins i have ever seen with a cabin layout of 1-2-1.. i like the middle east airlines..they all seem to be good airlines :)

  • @19bootsy68 I have never flown a middle eastern airline, though I would like to. If you do Oman Air, please post a TR! I agree, that the general impression I get is that the middle east airlines are quite good.

  • why did you depart so late ? doesnt SFO have a limit to what time the last flight can take off ?

  • @borisl2 I don't think there is a limit. I think they can take off any time they want to. It was a 1am flight, and I know that SQ SFO-HKG and CX SFO-HKG also take off around 1am.

  • @borisl2 Uh... no? Airports are 24/7 Their departure for EVA is at 1 AM

  • @MusicLover11325 LHR and LGW shut at 12 Midnight and reopen again at 6 am and i think so does CDG

  • @borisl2 Oh, I never knew that....

  • @JayZ96X It was not a combi. It was a full sized 747. I am not sure about economy!

  • @JayZ96X Yes, there are personal TV's there. They are in the seats, but we did not open them.

  • @JayZ96X No, there are definitely personal TV screens. Take a look at the video. They're very nice screens!

  • you're lucky, got paid by your company, and travel in business class, well, i don't want to be in business class, economy is enough for me, sorry for my english

  • @wisnu1231 Yes, thank you.

  • @sfflyer123 but i want to be in Very Very Important Person class........a.k.a the pilot

  • @wisnu1231 definitely a VIP!

  • @sfflyer123 yeah

  • you're lucky, got paid by your company, and trave in business class, well, i don't want to be in business class, economy is enough for me, sorry for my english

  • i think China Airlines and Eva air is wierd(not the service but the aircraft they use)why they use 747 for TPE to HKG

  • @wisnu1231 I think they use a 747 becasue there are so many people who fly TPE-HKG, so they need a big plane to hold everybody.

  • @sfflyer123 why they don't use 747-400D

  • @wisnu1231 I am not sure!

  • @sfflyer123 it's like ANA, ANA use 747 for domestic routes

  • Why you don't try to use Premium Economy?

  • @melamorsa41 I wanted to, but they were all sold out!

  • jet airways and eva air are my 2 favorite airplanes

  • @TheHitesh2000 Nice. I have never flown Jet Airways. I would like to one day.

  • @sfflyer123 it's an indian airline

  • @wisnu1231 Yes. I heard that it's awesome.

  • green is my favorite color! oh yeha, i have flown in eva airways from sfo

  • @TheHitesh2000 Nice. Eva is a good product, I think.

  • Hi!!..I have just subscibed to your site. You have some excellent videos. I will enjoy watching them. Please visit my site here in Youtube if you wish to see parts of Sydney. I would be delighted to have you as a visitor!!!

  • @unitedcomputers Thank you very much. I saw your nice HD videos! Pretty nice. I will have to buy an HD camera myself one day!

  • Hey, I'm flying EVA air to taiwan tuesday!

  • @awangj1 Have a great trip! Hope you get some good food.

  • @sfflyer123 Just got off the plane. Went with Economy class, and the food was gross... chicken with rice that looked like it got thrown into the blender. The only good thing was the breakfast porridge. But overall, nice flight. (BR17)

  • @awangj1 That's too bad. Sorry to hear that it was no good. Thanks for the update!

  • @sfflyer123 Well, you're in Premium Laurel, so...

I also revise my statement. The chicken wasn't really that bad, just looked nasty, and was bony. Tasted okay.

  • @awangj1 That's good to hear. I thought the food in premium laurel was very good. I had no complaints about it.

  • Another great video. Thumb up

  • @tkeeffect Thank you very much!

  • nice video i cant wait to go to Hong Kong in November

  • @97HKG Thank you! Do you know which airlines you're flying yet?

  • @sfflyer123 im pretty sure its Cathay Pacific econ class but im not sure about the stopover yet.

  • Flying business--and it looks great. I love the single "throne" seats. Keep up your great work!

  • @sfdavid1 Thanks very much. Yes, that throne seat is pretty cool. Almost like first class. Too bad most of my flying is domestic economy! I only videotape my business trips, but most of my flying is in the back of the bus! Thanks.

  • Thanks so much for all your great information and advice. Looking forward to my trip in the Fall on Swiss. Thanks again!

  • @sfdavid1 You're welcome! Will you fly business or economy or first? I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for the comment.

  • very nice video as always, keep up your great work ! :)

  • @NCarolinapanthers Thank you very much! Next video out in about a month.

  • nice videos! I have to say Eva's TPE lounge is horrible as always :P

  • @anchor79 Thank you! Yes, the lounge is pretty crazy green, isn't it? However, I will say that the Chinese food is quite good in there. It's not comparable for western food, but for chinese, I was pretty happy with it. The alcohol selection was also no comparison to the Lufthansa lounge.

  • Great video. You only fly 747 on that routes than 777 or A330?

  • @pbateson Thanks for the comment. It was all B747. It was supposed to be 777 SFO-TPE, but for some reason, it was a 747. I think they will phase out the 747's altogether and only use the 777s.

  • Hello SF Flyer. I am planning a trip in early November from SFO to FCO and I would like to travel biz. In your opinion, what airline(s) has/have the best plane, seating and service for that flight? Thanks so much for your input.

  • @sfdavid1 If you fly from SFO to FCO, the decision is where you want your international flight. SFO-europe non-stop is with only to CDG with AF, FRA with LH or UA, MUC with LH, LHR with BA or VS or UA, ZRH with LX. From that point, you can connect to FCO. However, if you want to stop on the east coast or ORD, you can fly there to FCO non-stop. So it depends on if you want a 10-11 hour transatlatic experience versus a 7 to 8 hour transatlantic experience. If I had the money, go ZRH LX business.

  • I'm a college student who fly's cheap on whatever airline I can. Its really fun kind of living the business class experience through your visual journals. Thanks for posting these vids, and keep up the good work as I look forward to watching each one.

  • @Jonesman08 Thanks for the kind words! If you read flyertalk. there are surprisingly tons of college students on there. They fly one airline only, and they accumulate many miles to get a nice business class trip or elite status. It's quite interesting because they fly only for personal reasons, no business obviously, since they're college students. Thank you for the comment!

  • great. thanks!

  • @hungryle Thank you for the nice words!

  • Thanks for the new post Homer!!! I have been waiting for a long while now for your new post. I always enjoy flying with you here. Still haven't heard about my teaching post in Dubai yet, but have taken in all of your advice about the trip. Cheers, Will

  • ..and how was service in the cabin? Attentive, smiles? How was cabin presence during the flight and how was inflight entertainment? Was glad to see Hong Kong again..been there as a student..MUST go back:) Thank you very much again for this fantastic report:) Image quality amazingly good, although you are (still..hint..lol) not filming HD:)

  • @homer3152 The service was quite amazing. After I have seen what you like in your trip reports, you would not be disappointed with EVA. Most of cabin crew are nice and very attentive. They smile and the service is just quite excellent. Yes, I do not have an HD camera. I supposed I will need to get one some day! I still have my old digital from Costco that I bought 5-6 years ago! Thanks, homer!

  • Absolutely sensational trip report again from you..thank you so much for sharing your trips with us. For me an exotic airline i might nevr fly myself and a place like Taipei I always wanted to go but might never make it there. Just a plane, straightforward report showing the trip just like it is..no journalistic interpretations like in tv..just the world like it is..loove your reports. Choice of wines -only 2 reds and wines- a bit disappointing..in partic. the reds. How old was the plane?

  • @homer3152 Thanks very much, great homer. It is always easier to go to a place that is closer. For you, Dubai is easier than it is for me, and it makes sense for you to use Emirates. I do not know if I will ever go to Dubai, but I do hope to one day. The plane was quite old, I believe. They are phasing out the 747-400s and going to the 777s mainly. I was surprised that this route still had a 747 because I thought they were all retired. Thanks, homer!

  • Always enjoy your video z

  • @cchuang1980 Thank you!

  • Thanks so much for your interesting and informative videos. You always seem to capture what is most important about the in-flight service and you have helped me decide my travel selections. Keep up the great work.

  • @sfdavid1 Thank you for those kind words! I am glad that the videos are helpful. It's always nice to see what the experience will be like to help select airlines and routes. Thanks for the nice comment!

  • Do you think a Flip camera is good for recording a takeoff/landing?

  • @MrDarryl09 I do not know. I think they are nice, but I have never tried.

  • When is the next one?

  • @dodginthis I will try to do one per month on average.
