  • thanks for the great info. keep it up!

  • Good video. I've read some of the commments and just wanted to let people know about a book that is very helpful for dealing with any kind of chronic pain. "The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook" by Claire Davies. Extremly comprehensive and easy to read. Super cheap on amazon, and can teach you how to get relief from chronic pain regarless of the location. A must read for those that are seaching and aren't finding relief.

  • got the same thing, i thought it was Shöyermahn, or however the hell its written, but it's not, thanks alot

  • hey dave yet again another great video really informational... here comes the question... a friend of mine has had neck pain for the past thre or four years... what kind of streches can he do ? thanks for ur information

  • Is it posterior and anterior? for front and back muscles the name you couldn't remember.

  • im with u i subed for rc

  • I also sub'd for RC, but I knida like the wild cards and survival shows.

  • Exactly, me too. I kinda get that junk mail feel, but i just ignore it. Well, maybe I'll unsuscribe just because I know when the vids are up.

Oh by the way, that might be a good reason for you guys at RCP not to encourage suscribing, since we know when these vids are up. And don't feel ignored when the subscription number drops, you still have a number of views.

  • I happen to like the variety of stuff on here. I originally subscribed because of the INTJ/mbti videos, but i'm also into health and fitness. I'm not much into planes, but that's ok. keep up the interesting videos!

  • Oh my gosh guys it actually works

  • Dave:

Yet another great vid!!! I have had lower back pain for years and years and was told by a Dr. that I needed surgery. Another Doc said I needed to stretch out my hamstrings every morning. Guess what? No more back pain since!!!!!!!! Information is king.

    Bill

  • ever think of becoming a physical therapist? you would make a great spokes person since you have described in this video exactly what our philosiphy is and what we do as professionals, but in laymans terms. you also did a great job at showing your viewers how to do a quick postural assessment of themselves and provided some general exercises to reverse the effects of the postural syndromes "body casts" that may be causing their back problems. im a big fan of prevention. keep up the great work.

  • alright i got terrible upper back pain, i do sit at a computer a lot, and I have scoliosis, but its my shoulder muscles, and i have tried everything, please what stretches can i do to get rid of this?

  • You guys are overdoing the new schedule thing, we know already ! :O)

  • I'll give it a go, after a few hours on a motorbike my neck and back get sore..

  • Dave, what i think you mean is strectch spinal erector, not lats. i'm all too familiar with back pain, i used to heavy deads and not enough ab work - had my posture way outta wack

  • Thank you for sharing this info my friend. This is going to help in are family big time. My brother and mom have bad back pain. I will share this with them so that way they can start to feel better. This is the best Channel ever. I am looking forward to your next work out. God bless you all and your families.

  • great vid mate, i think the word your looking for at the start is antagonistic muscles by the way.

    keep it up 5*

  • Dave, thanks for posting! As a computer programmer I do a lot of sitting, and I found that the best thing to do was to get up and walk around more often, and to stretch while I do that. It doesn't totally eliminate my back pain, but it is better than taking drugs, which is the only advice I ever got from the worthless doctors.

  • Dave: Any comments/advice for women with back pain who wear high heels?

  • Heels contract the calf muscle in the back of your leg, and allow it to stay contracted all day - it's really a bad way to treat your legs. Standard calf stretches helped me a lot, but what made the most difference was finding fashionable flats!

  • Nice job Dave. I've had back pain too and was told to do stretching. Guess what, wrong stretches! I just tried your routine and can feel such a difference. I'll keep it for a while and let you know my progress.

You know, at this rate you'll have me in shape and all active and I won't have time for RC. Dang, and I was just getting good at it! LOL

  • 1:40 you have Muscle

  • Dave, these vids are great, i'm a fairly young guy and i've been told i have a slightly hunched over posture, however i don't have scoliosis. what would you suggest to correct that?

  • THANK GOD YOU MADE THIS VIDEO.

Me being 6' 1", like most tall people have lower back pain.

  • 1:55 - Antagonistic pairs?

  • How the hell do you know so much stuff? Jesus. every time i come here i see different things?

  • He is a personal trainer with alot of first-hand experience.

  • well im a pilot and my back kill me because of setting in the plane long hours

  • My dad used to suffer from back pain, but I'm not sure if it still bothers him. I'll have to check with him. I bet you he''ll be confused about this info lol.

  • this be the fitness episode mon

  • Mr. Burns!!! ROFL!!

  • Nobody has ever explained to me about what you said about the muscles tightening and loosening. I sit in a chair for hours and my lower back hurts a little and my shoulders are rolling forward. I need to start stretching now, the right way. Thank you Dave.

  • Very good that is gonna help me!!

    Thanks Dave

    5 STARS OFCOURCE

  • "Rubber bands or meat" - LoL!

Very nice! This is good for us students who have to sit a lot. Better stretch before getting pains...

  • I had chronic back pain for years from decades of weightlifting the wrong way. I was able to alleviate almost all the pain by suspending my lower body which created traction. I then injured my back doing straight leg dead lifts, and the pain would not go away. After 100 chiropractor appointments my pain level went from 8 out of 10 to 2/10. Then a physical therapist pressed on the injured spot, and my pain level went to 1/10. Then I found a wrestlers back bridgin

  • exercise on Youtube where you arch your back as much as possible always trying to get your nose as close to the floor as possible. This exercise practically eliminated all the pain. It may have been all I needed. So, try exercises/stretching first, then physical therapy, then chiropractic. Try physical therapy first because it requires much fewer visits than chiropractic. The treatment the physical therapist performed on me is called Rolfing which is deep tissue massage.

  • I had a back op 3 years ago, and I know what back pain is! I was eating my dinner off the floor with my dogs as I could not site up lol, it is not good. However my views on controlling or avoiding back pain are simple, lift with a straight back, do what this kind chap is advising you to do and exersise often as you need to build up your back to surport your spine. I didn't work out for a year after my op and found my back to get worse, so get you ass down that gym and don't over do it !

  • i was really looking forward to this video because i suffer from this kind of back pain, but I was a bit disappointed. You TALKED about the stretches, but you didn't SHOW any

It would be really nice if you did a follow-up to this video and spent 2 or 3 minutes going through a short sample routine demonstrating all the stances & what to do (& not do)

There's a big difference between saying, "stretch your lats" and SHOWING us how to stretch our lats. You're making a video, not writing an article

  • Did you check out the link in the sidebar like he said? It links to a forum post containing more videos where they demonstrate the stretches.

  • thanks.

But he just says "check the link in the sidebar for James' website". He doesn't mention other stretching videos

I didn't read the sidebar because I was watching from his profile page, not this one. So I guess I should revise my feedback to say that he should use Youtube Annotations to link videos together

Annotations are a bit of a pain if overdone, but they are VERY useful for linking things (the sidebar is NOT, because you never know where your video is going to be embedded)

  • Yes, thank you. We are putting alot more in our blog each day. Lots of bonus videos and such that we just can't fit all in on YouTube.

    Thanks man!

  • No problem. I hope you took the criticism as constructive feedback because that's how it was intended.

I'll probably never buy an RC airplane (don't have the time or money to start yet another hobby), but I subscribed to your channel because you're doing these videos and the business videos.

So I'm not tearing down what you do. On the contrary, I really like what you're doing here and any criticism is intended to help you keep improving.

    Keep up the great work!

  • Yes, I tried to make the sign real big at the end of the video and on the title of the video... I had audio as well to say "click on the side bar for the stretches" but the camera uploader broke at the last minute so I could just put it in with the text.

Yes, all the stretching videos are at our blog page, see this side bar of this video for a direct link.

  • Yep, I realize I was wrong on my first comment, but that kind of proves the point that the methods you're using to direct people to your blog are less effective than you might think.

Notes in the title, sidebar, and end of video are all good, but they can't beat Annotations. For example, I was watching an embedded video, so I didn't pay much attention to the title or sidebar, and I stopped watching right before the end, so none of the things you did worked to direct me to your blog.

  • If you say "Stretch your lats" in the video, but the link to that sample video is at the end or in the sidebar, then you're relying on viewers to find it (which is not going to work 100%)

On the other hand, if you say "Stretch your lats" & then an annotation pops up with a link to the video (or your blog), then Shazam! you've shown me where to go 100% of the time

I know Annotations are a time-consuming PAIN to attach to videos, but I think they'll help direct traffic to your blog better

  • antonations can only link to pages on YT....

  • that's true, Annotations can only link to YT, but they can still type the URL into an annotation text box (so we can hand-type it into our browser) or even put reminder text saying "Links are in the sidebar"

Like I said, you never know where your video is going to end up embedded so you can't rely on the sidebar alone to direct traffic

Also, a 2nd youtube channel for those additional videos might be an option so this channel doesn't get cluttered, then links could go to that channel

  • yea dave i like all your videos and i always rate them 5 star but you got to stop saying saying rate my videoes

  • Dave this is awesome!

I'm an Aussie physio and some of the stuff you're showing here took me 4 years to learn at uni and is something that i'm constantly teaching my patients. Of course, each patient is different but in general this is spot on! Thank you for educating the public!

  • why does every one on you tube want to be rated? Don't you have any confidence in your selves?

    ps good work.

  • Thanks Dave, I sit at a desk all day and guess what? I have back pain. Now I can fix it.

  • you oughta lift a cast iron cylinder head off a small block chevy while the engines still in the car Dave! LEMMY TELL YA, YA LOOK LIKE Mr BURNS FOR HOURS!?!?

  • Very informative video, Dave!

Any chance you good address some cardio exercises/information in the next video? :)

    Keep up the good work!

  • Excellent...

  • . there is something that I didnt know thanks mister...as I am getting older I seem to have that tilt you describe....I worked out hard for years and now I only do maintenance.

  • "Tighten one side, relax the other." Very Yin-Yang.

  • This may well help me a lot, I have what has been called 'curvature of the spine' and looks exactly like the first example you mentioned.

Getting pain in the lower back and upper back/between the shoulders area.

Not sure if I should be doing all of these stretches or not for this... ? are they all for fixing the anterior pelvic tilt and the forward shoulders problems?

Thanks a lot for these, you're very straight forward and it helps!

    Adam from England

  • cool!

  • Nice one!

  • good! dave rulz!

  • Interesting video Dave! Im sure it will help a lot of people out there. Damn my legs are sore from todays workout lol keep up the good work!
