oh mannnn, when you do your chest, GET someone to spot you. Cause once I was doing my set, and on the 6th rep, i thought i couldnt' do anymore, but i went for the 7th, and the spotter pretended to help me, and i lifted it. It's alllll in your head man, seriously. If you have a good spotter, it'll help sooo much.
well, if you do the same muscle groups too often, you'll overtrain. That's what happened to me. Do each group once a week, split it. Full upper body every day might fuck you up man.
oh and if you've been doing it for a while, you might want to consider doing your chest twice a week. I used to do it once a week, but now I go monday and friday, just chest on both those days.
benching 185 and doing 70 lb dumbbells is perfect. I'm doing a 195 lb bench and I'll go with 75 lb dumbbells, but i usually do dumbbell bench at the end of my workout, so my numbers aren't good.
I was doing 185 maybe 2 months ago and when I did, i was doing 70 lb dumbbells. Keep it up, and when you're ready, put on 10 lbs on your bench. Don't go from 185 lbs to 190 lbs, go directly from 185 to 195. Work on getting in some lower reps, work up to 8~10. It worked for me, should work for you!
In what way? It clearly says 70lb on the dumbell meaning he is pushing a total of 140. Obviously his remark about benching was wrong cos dumbell press is a lot harder.
what the fuck....dude, you must not know what you're talking about...today, i bench pressed 180 lbs, and I DUMBBELL bench pressed 70 lbs each arm. There is absolutely NO way that I could use two 90 lb dumbbells in each arm....if you go look it up, you'll realize that a dumbbell press and bench press are different...
try it yourself in a couple months. Take whatever you can bench press, divide it by two, and then try that weight with two dumbbells...guarantee you can't do it.
@roberth214 ya what makes dumbbells different is the fact that you have to balance it yourself making it a shit load harder. i find bar benching just for showing off really.
okay dude i do 70 lb dumbbells so what? I don't do as much as you, i'm 18...some 30 year olds can only do 20 kg....i've seen some guys 15~16 doing 50~55 kg...what does age have to do with anything? It's how long you've been doing it for....
were you lifting light that day or something? cause you seem like you can do more, i've seen guys at the gym your size using 120's

its true, it's harder to do dumb bells because you're using your stabilizing muscles.
