i had a samsung dishwasher for 6 months and it broke we repaired it 1 month later it broke again it was always the electronic the steam was destroying it we give it away. then we bought a 16 years old miele for 20$ a real deal and it was amazing the dishes were so clean we never saw something like this it was awesome! GERMAN QUALITY
Pick up a hard plastic drain cover from the hardware store, it also water to enter drain but prevents flatware from entering the garbage disposable. Some small items can pass through its drain, but it is easier to life the drain cover and sweep food into disposal then replace cover. Hit the switch, quiet. It also deadens the noise from draining of dishwasher. I believe they are about $15. Have not ground up a spoon since.
I'm thinking 'bout buying a 1554 model as my 5 - year old Whirlpool has its power switchboard exchanged for the 3rd time.
Total piece of shit, have to clean the sump on ANY cycle as the pressure switch seems to be
shot.
Willjann, you may want to think about fitting a T - piece behind the U - drain to keep things silent. I did that with all my machinery, works very well. Anyway, can you confirm that the door handle stands off the workplate ?

The door handle is attached to the workplate. The only thing which is connected to the workplate, is the metal plate which prevents the workplate from getting moldy. ;)

Although I can say that the maytag has been run 3 times a week for the last 12 years. No problems after 1,872 cycles until now. A horrible grinding sound. Sounds very bad, but it still works great.
Well, Maytag and Miele are two completely different brands. These dishwasher are testes to last 20 years in a 'normal' household (4 persons). If a Miele runs 3 times a week, it's almost certain that it'll last 20 years.
Have you tried to fix your Maytag? If it's a grinding noise, could it be that something has clogged up the wash pump?
My bosch dishwasher also doesnt rinse both baskets at the same time. It also washes the upper and lower basket seperatly aswell as you hear the machine stop, then start up again with a different sound. I thought my bosch very quiet but yours is even quieter! My last dishwasher was an indesit and man was it loud lol.
It really isn't bad! The big items are not cleaned properly, but the manual suggests putting the big cutlery in the upper basket, rather than the cutlery drawer. Apart from that, everything comes out perfectly clean.
I don't know about the 1832! But Miele certainly has expensive dishwashers! :)

I don't know what makes the 1532 so quiet, but I do know that your 1232 is about twice the sound of this one. Hard to imagine, as your dishwasher is very quiet as well!
The 1532 is also a bit more economical, because it only rinses one basket at the same time. Your 1232 doesn't have that feature.
So we bought the 1532, because it's more quiet and more economical! :D
When I save the videos with WMM I always turn the volume at max and this is why it is not very quiet. I think G1232 is very more quiet than the G648 I have (G648 was like the G1833 nowadays, the top dishwasher of 10 years ago):D
However G1532 and G1232 are very good machines.....:D

Yeah, Miele is much better than Wirlpool.

Ran dishwasher today and no sound. Repair man was going to come, but no sound. There will be a sound, it comes and goes? I love my Miele vacuum. Simply the best out there. Just by looking at it you can see quality. How quiet is that machine anyway.

How do you find the cutlery tray? We got an older style miele g698 and it doesn't really clean the cutlery that well in the top.

The 1232 is a more basic model. The 1532 has a few more features, that's why we wanted that one. And the 1532 is even more quiet than the 1232! :D

The noise of the G1232 is 46 db (A) re1pW.

i carn't think of anything quieter than that. apparantly these run at just 42DB. an aeg dryer runs at around 66DB.
when i get my own home, i am so getting a miele dishwasher
