ow come'on gavin ,, a hasselblad !! for real ! man i saved for half a year to get my 600D , and i ain't planing to change it for the next 3 years,,, great tutorial as usual though
Hasselblad quality is similar to 5d mark 2 ? dont forget D700. Anyway, you cant compare like that. Every tool has its own purposes. Hasselblad designed to produce billboard advertising, yes the whole freaking billboard.
@lotfihdv Doesn't make a difference. The thing is that the light doesn't know you have an ND filter. If you use a light meter and get f8, and you want to use an ND4, you would need to adjust until you're metering at f16, therefore the light is cranking out two more stops of light to compensate. ND2=1 stop, ND4=2, ND8=3, etc.
Could you do a tutorial on how to guide a model? Just some basic tips. I'm usually shooting non living objects cause they don't make weird faces but when I'm asked to shoot graduation pictures for example I find it very hard to tell the model how to act in front of the camera. I end up taking tons of pictures from the same angle because I know that most of them fail. Thanks!
Hey Gavin. Quick question. You have continuous light and a strobe in the same softbox? Where are those flashes coming from? Thanx. And good job on the tutorials.
that model is really lucky, hes being photographed with top of the line camera. Did you rent the hassleblad or buy it? im guessing you rented it? Is it expensive?
Hi PhotoGavin! I really like your videos, particularly the 15 minute challenges. I have a request: please would you make some tutorials for beginners? You know, the really basic fundamentals. You've explained aperture already, but it would be great to get some tutorials on things like shutterspeed, ISO, white balance, focus, composition, etc as well. Thanks!
Hi Gavin, if I send you a picture can you tell me what editing has been done to it because I love what the photographer has done but I am having trouble getting photos the same as it.
@PhotoGavin - Love your work Gavin, you make it so simple. Thank you very much for all the tutorials. I believe the camera has a wireless flash trigger, but where is the flash? Is it just behind you at the top?
And you took meter reading, you actually fired a blank flash?
hi Gavin, i saw your 3 point lighting kit video (very informative)- for studio / portrait photography do you recommend the continuous lighting or speed lights through the same setup?
@dima9944 As opposed to what .... bracketing to dial in your exposure? Studying multiple histograms on the camera's LCD? What if you're renting the studio and model by the hour? Best to know how much light your strobes are pumping out so you can nail your exposure on the first shot instead of fumbling around in the dark and wasting time.
@PhotoGavin Thanks for the reply that has eased my mind :) Thanks again for the video and thank you for the DVD I just bought from your web site Elements Essential Skills. I have been learning a lot today ! Really easy to understand also and I would recommend it to anyone. Paul Harley
@PhotoGavin Hi Gavin I am a new subscriber to your pod cast and I love what you have done, but I have been looking for a E-mail address on your site? but as a typical man I must have missed it. What I would like is a place where I/we can down load episodes to keep and refer to as and when needed? Do you do this, and if not may be this is something to look towards doing???
That was really easy to understand thanks heaps.. all i have to do is buy the equipment,,, apart from the hasselblad somehow don't know if we will see that in NZ sometime soon, so i'll stick to my Canon
Can you recommend a brand/model for a good light meter for someone just getting started? Also, can you tell us the name brand/model of the soft box you used? Great photos, awesome tutorial! Just what I needed.
Nice Video. I love the sound of the Hassi :) I had the Chance to try the H4D40 for 3 Weeks this year and I have to say: It`s something like a Drug for me..and even its expensive, its worth every single penny....the Image Quality is amazing and the cam and the lens is perfect quality
That Hasselblad is way expensive! BUT, can you get a similar result from a 5D mkII??? Anyway, another great video, Gav! You make it look easy. I know it ain't!
@Sprenklefish 100% yes. The camera is a tool, nothing more. The only difference is the size of the files and thus their quality. My 5D mk2 is excellent, the Hasselblad was a step up again, but so was the price! Nice to try, but not for me.
wow that camera's a brute.....but on another note Gav..Wern't you doing a video of building a pc specifically for photo work....I say this because now it has got be thinking along these lines and wondered how yours came out..Also what windows did you use??? thanks
@jameslcr The 5D suits my style of day to day photography much better I think. Having said that I wasn't going to turn down the chance to use a Hasselblad for a day :-)
@PhotoGavin do you ever face a AF problem when you are using your 5mk2 w 24-105 in low light situation? I'm worried that the 5mk2 will have focusing problem because i enjoy night photography. Thanks
