What a set of lyrics. Peter was an incredible lyricist. How he could weave such pithy intellectual material into such beautiful poetry and make fabulous music too, albeit aided with the fabulous Hugh Banton too. I haven't listened to this in decades, and yet I still knew all of the words!

"Still life" secondo me è uno dei migliori lavori dei Van der Graaf Generator: come album nel suo insieme, è probabilmente il più interessante, fatta eccezione, ovviamente, per "Pawn Hearts" e "H to He who am the only one"; questa traccia e "Childlike faith in Childhood's End " costituiscono i suoi vertici.
