dont hang your shit on me just because you went to cornell. i actually did go to an ivy and it happens to be in boston hmmmmmmmmm
also, i was being facetious when i called cornell a public school (hint: it was a knock on the size of the student body population), but of course the meaning flew right over your head. its expected, when receiving a second rate education.
@goobertay People who go to Harvard normally say that Harvard is in Cambridge, not Boston. The only legit part of Harvardthat is in Boston is the business school. There is no way you are in business or attended the business school-you are far too intolerant and ignorant for that. Even if you did go to Harvard, it doesn't make you or your education superior. An education is what you make of it-what you learn from your teachers/professors. You seem to have learnt nothing other than arrogance.
Grammar isn't something you decide to pay attention to in order to apply for college. If you're really as smart as you say, then good grammar should come naturally every single time, whether you're writing or speaking.
I never said I was intelligent at all, u just labled ppl that way. and yes, there are places on the interwebz wher gramar dont rly matter like this utube coment section. Do you think I should write like I'm writing a research paper, all the time?
@kundimaharaj: I know, if you've been following this conversation at all, I just meant that I think Cornell students are intelligent. I never mentioned that I thought people who got rejected from that school are dumbfucks. Got it?
ha you can get in just go to TC3 a local community college and transfer in. You can save money and claim residency after a year. Then apply to one of several of the State schools at cornell and you will get in. You only need a 3.0 gpa to transfer in. I am from the area and this is a easy and less expensive way to get in.
i'm sure if you had the opprutunity to apply to cornell, you still succeeded and went to a great school. sorry for the loss. lol. my friend was accepted into cornell this year. he owns about nine sweatshirts and now he has sweatpants and a hat. its a little insane.
If you are applying to Cornell, don't use your SAT score to determine whether you should apply or not. I'm a student at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations and I never even took the SAT/ACT exams because I was a terrible student in high school. I decided to finally try college when I was 25 and a bit more grown up. I did very well at community college and Cornell looked at that as well as my work experience since my "D" performance in high school. (To be continued...)
(Continued...) It is really important to understand that while Cornell definitely appreciates and highly values good performance, they are most interested in finding good students who are a "good fit" for their programs. That is, they want students who can demonstrate a bona fide interest in the programs to which they are applying during the very competitive admissions process. For example, my "fit" for Industrial and Labor Relations was demonstrated by years of experience as a union leader.
This does not mean that everyone has to meet such a high standard. The type of activities in which you participate, the courses you choose, etc. are all taken into consideration. Some schools (like ILR where I am) require an interview. This was a great chance to talk about how you would fit in with the program. (This requires good research on the school to which you're trying to gain admission.)
Question, cause im a paranoid freshman in high school... Lets say, if I were to get an 80% b in honors algebra then I manage to pull off 97's and 98's for the rest of the 3 marking periods in my freshman year, can my gpa for that class only reach a 3.5? Or can those high 90's pull it up to a 4.0? Im ultra confused:(
Your GPA is determined by the final grade of the course. This was the case where I went to high school and community college before arriving at Cornell. As long as your final grade (reflective of your entire year) is an A, you would have earned a 4.0 for that course. Why should you be punished with anything less than a 4.0 if your overall performance earned you an A in a given course? You will pretty much lose your PERFECT 4.0 as soon as you earn a final grade of A- or lower.
As far as I understand it, report cards (first quarter, semester, third quarter) are merely "progress reports" to see where you stand at the present in that course. On your final year, colleges will not know your final grades since their decisions are made before you finish school. Some will require a midterm report. That is, some will require your teachers to report on a form what your average in the class is up to that point.
to respond to the person who said "sore loser" what is your problem? First, clearly this was a joke type clip. Second, you clearly don't know how it feels to be rejected from a school that you loved so much so shut up.
First of all, I see it as an affront to my alma mater and really don't see any humor in it. I do see he's trying to make a point but he could have made it more respectfully. I was rejected by many places but I did not burn a Stanford brochure and post it just to insult Stanford. Second, there's a right to free speech. xsource can post his views and so can I. I might be a tad harsh by calling him a loser (my apologies to him) but I won't feel bad calling you an ass.
Come on! Those who got accepted in Cornell (or their school of choice) are glad they didn't have to live this moment, and thoses who didn't can relate to it.
Is it really that it matters that lot in the U.S. which university you graduated from to get a decent job ? In Germany it matters very little...if your grades are excellent you will get nearly any job you want.
I bet some of the so called "cornellians" who said it's better to be rejected are just bitter that they were either not up to the competition at cornell or just bitter at being rejected. Cornell is a great school and i did well there and i learned better with smart ppl. It isn't any colder than boston or nyc and there's plenty of time to do interesting stuff if you know how to manage your time and be efficient. sorry xsource, you're just a whining sore loser.
I think you're being too melodramatic about your rejection. Getting rejected is not the end of the world. There's more to life than just Cornell. Besides, Cornell is a good school. Obviously for some of you guys, you're probably pissed at the fact you didn't get in and so you're debasing it. Grow up and get a life. Rejection isn't the end of the world.
hahaha omg. i just realized i should have done the same thing to my Cornell viewbook. i was more...passive about my rejection. Great video, i very easily related.
i feel that regardless of whether or not being at Cornell sucks, this video expresses accurately what's probably a common occurrence throughout the industrialized world, and for that should be commended.
trust me...u lucky u didnt get in. im pullin off a 3.2 and this was only my first semester. mind u most of my friends are getting 2.3s and 2.6s. i wish i had been rejected.... :(
I just want you to know its k....there is bigger plan and Cornell was just standing on your way!!!!If you must know....I saw lot of rejections before getting to medical school !!!
Maybe the Cornell Admissions Office saw this video and how you wouldn't use an envelope to re-open the rejection letter, if they were to send one. Or CU just personally trisects the letter and gently places it into your mailbox.
Yeah dude, I'm graduating this year too. Like koolyokam007 says, you're not missing much. Rediculous charges, never feeling like you're good enough, insane amounts of work. I can't wait to get out. Don't transfer either, they treat transfers like second class citizens...until they want money. I know, I was one. Burn that book!
im about to graduate class of 07...you really are not missing much at all...except horrible weather, impossible amounts of work, extreme stess and isolation, shitty dating scene. I wish i had transferred at times. all we do here is study, not sleep, get overcharged for everything, freeze, and get drunk as hell to drown our pain and boredom on the weekends at the million and one frat houses they have here. enjoy your time at Utexas and just do well and apply for an Ivy grad school.
maybe if you stopped wasting your time making stupid videos and actually used that time to study - you'd get in. But hey, there's always community colleges...
LOL I love how the Cornell booklet pretty much extinguishes the flames and stays bright red the whole time. HAHA shows how much Cornell is unaffected by ya dude.
Sorry dude! A+ for effort. We searched for "bulldog' and your video came up. You're not as entertaining as the skateboarding bulldog, but we still appreciate your effort. Sorry you didn't get in - my friend did! She's a lawyer. She's really smart. Good luck!
How did you get rejected already? The admission decisions come back on the 29th. Unless you were rejected on early decision... which means you had no shot anyway.
not that this is gonna make you feel any better, but if i was going to do it all over again, i'd go to a nice state school that was cheaper, and i'm not paying if my kids want to go.
Well, I rejected Cornell LOL. I got into their PhD program but I just didn't like the people I met there. So yeah. I don't know if I am missing out or not, but I am sucking big cocks in here :)
Yeah, I agree that my time at CU wasn't the best... but WOW it taught me how to work hard. With your creativity, you will do well in the world (regardless of which school you attend).
Didn't you get the notice? We don't let kids in who wear socks with flip flops (or sandals for that matter). There's always grad school if you can kick the habit in time.
Haha. I did something similar to Binghamton's letter. I took my paintball gun and proceeded to shoot the letter until it became nothing but some colored, liquid goo. Europa, cornell requires an average of 90+ and old sat scores hovering around the range of 1350+, but they do accept quite a few people in the lower grade percentiles, and the school has one of the highest acceptance rates out of all the eight Ivy League schools out there.
wow you took it pretty well

FOR CORNELL
you NEED 2500 SAT scores,a score of 900 on SAT II Math Level II, Chem, Physics tests
and a 6.0 GPA out of a 4.0 scale.
so yeah no one gets accepted there...thats how elite they are
in fact they have only released 1 piece of data regarding their admission, their acceptance rate which is a -17%
that means they kick out 17% of their students each year, they accept 0
OH AND EVERY CLASS YOU HAVE TAKEN SINCE KINDERGARTEN HAS TO BE AP..

Cornell's nice, but way too cold. We're buried in snow right now. Good choice you made, going to Texas. :)

His house is pretty nice. He should just skip college and live off his parents
me4daking 5 years ago
not that this is gonna make you feel any better, but if i was going to do it all over again, i'd go to a nice state school that was cheaper, and i'm not paying if my kids want to go.

Yeah, I agree that my time at CU wasn't the best... but WOW it taught me how to work hard. With your creativity, you will do well in the world (regardless of which school you attend).

Sanjo, do you go to Cornell? I can't tell: are you an Apparel Design major, or perhaps a Hotelie? You owe this nice kid an apology.
pmhauck 5 years ago
Didn't you get the notice? We don't let kids in who wear socks with flip flops (or sandals for that matter). There's always grad school if you can kick the habit in time.

I graduated in May... it would have been just as sweet if it were from any other school... CU 06

Haha I got in. Sometimes I wish I didn't.

Alpha06x 5 years ago
don't worry. you're not missing THAT much.
