  • mac is so bad, its doing the one thing we dont want in this earth, making everything the same, next thing yu know were living in the world of iRobot and that sucks.

fucking gay macintosh stupid identical consoles.

while i have my handpaneted chimera directx 11 desktop no , i do not use shitty open gl lol

  • where does the tard get his money, i would rather spend it on hoes

  • Cool!

  • Nice that you are Partner now!

  • Yah flash on mac just sucks balls. it's because flash doesn't use the gpu at all, it uses ALL the processor's power.

  • Emeek..I've been listening to both episodes of 'Apple Cast', and I do like what I hear, looking forward to hearing some more. I am a total podasting junky BTW.

Matter of interest though as it's an audio podcast so far. Why is it in Quicktime MOV format? Instead of MP3? All DAPs can play MP3, only some can play MOV. MP3 been the defacto standard for most audio podcasts. There is sometimes a separate feed for enhanced AAC, if they do an enhanced podcast from Garageband or Ubercaster.

  • with a mov file, i can add things to the podcasts. Like pictures etc that will appear specific times in the video.

  • Oh OK, thanks for the info. So that should work OK on an iPod as well.

  • @AppleSoldier

wow cool iv'e been able to do that on my pc for years, cool man enjoy not bbeing in the 21st centurary.

21,000 pc mark vantage? what you only get 8000 wow thats so shit man

  • You should unprivate them.

  • I'm downloading your podcasts straight into iTunes Eric. You just go to your main page using Safari, click on the RSS feed tab in the address bar, and choose where to download, and boom! Just like Steve Jobs, boom!

  • I hate both Windows and OS X, but dont think he should stop making vids. He has an opinion and has nothing to apologize for expressing it. Which vid freaked people out?

  • Hey emeek, I saw the videos that freaked people out, and if that is happening, it's total over-reaction. Your vids were tame. Oh well, sorry to hear you're feeling bad about them. I enjoyed them, and I like Windows and OSX.

  • @corkbender

    I totally agree with you

  • Don't sweat it emeek. Ignore that fool adobe. lol

  • Eric, if someone gets extremely pissed over something like this they should probably get off of you tube. (no offence to anybody...)

You have the right to have your videos up even if people disagree with them...

  • You're seriously the shit dude for providing all this cool content! Thanks!

  • YEAH. I tried to recommend you this like 3 months ago, and i guess you answered!

Sweet man, they sound really good.

  • Look how cluttered that dock is.

  • but just imagine all those applications as icons on the desktop

  • Yeah, it would look better

  • No, I think it's fairly organized and spaced out. Think about it, he's on a fairly high res.

  • One thing that gets left out of the OS Wars is not only Linux(Ubuntu), but Geography. There is a reason on your Mac system disks it says Designed in California. Because Apple is in the heart of Silicon Valley..and Microsoft is in Washington State. Supercomputers that predict the weather use Linux..Google uses Linux..which is UNIX based. Your cellphone probably uses Linux..OS X is a close relative of Linux..Windows is not open source..OS X is open source..with a big market behind it...

  • to garagebandjunkie, not entirely true about Linux based on Unix. Unix was the Super OS platform from the 70's and 80's that chose at an early stage to go proprietary, which is debatable exactly when, but this is a fact that by the time Linus Torvalds wanted to use GNU's free library without a central kernal, he had to write one. He used MINUX, which was a free stripped down version of UNIX. From that time, LINUX was born on GNU's Foundation of Free software for all!

  • "OS X is open source"

No, it is not, certain components of OS X are open source, such as the Darwin kernel. However, the OS itself is not open source, thus why it is bundled with a EULA, rather than a copy of the GPL or a BSD license.

  • I am so sick of people thinking LINUX is like OS X or vise versa. OS X is not open source. The Kernel is open but every thing else is closed with iron barbed wire gates, which is not open at all. They are related only in that both are based on some form of UNIX / MINUX.

I would love to know how Apple convinced every one they are the Good guy. The Apple of today is more Microsoft than Microsoft ever was. Call me crazy but Apple is not fighting 1984 they are trying to create it through them!

  • Did anyone ask you? I don't think this video was to promote more arguments. Save it.

  • @TheShowThatSUX I think apple is trying to take over the world at this point. They all think it's a revolution or something like if you watch pirates of silicon valley. I love apple computers, but as a corporation I see them getting a little small time big brotherish. Microsoft is still and always will be microsoft though.

  • Pirates of the Silicon Valley is not an actual source, Steve Woziak said most of the events never happened the way they did in that movie.

  • @XXASCII808XX Yah there's a lot of things that are not accurate but it does give a general picture of what was going on.

  • i seen an interview with Woz and he said is was unbelievable how accurate it was in some places. He said he couldn't speak for how accurate most of it was because he just wasn't around most the time. Steve done a lot without Woz being present. But the stuff portraying Woz in the movie, he said was accurate.

  • @garagebandjunkie

    "Microsoft is in Washington State"

Microsoft has a research facility in Mountain View, CA.

    Google: Microsoft Research Silicon Valley

  • "research facility"...more like a porthole into what apple is doing...ha ha ha!!!

  • How come? You don't even know what researchers are even doing there.

Let's see... Does Apple offer Internet search? Nope.

Now, do you even know what a porthole even is? English failure for you there.

  • I wouldn't even be surprised if you Apple fanboys worship Lord Jobs as if he were Jesus himself.

  • Lastly, every high-tech company has something in Silicon Valley.

"porthole" I'll use your logic here. So every company is a "porthole" to other company when they're located to the same area? Interesting...

  • Eric can you give me the link to that wallpaper please?

    Thanks in advance.

  • cool, didnt know you had a site...

will check out some of the tuts, wanna try final cut coz i heard good stuff n i have been using premiere pro

  • 

  • has anybody heard about the googlechrome os?

  • Yea 7 second boot time

  • @watchforfinger the pimped out Web browser? XD

  • Chrome OS is more aimed at netbooks.

Basically, the entire browser is the OS.

  • thanks

  • Google Chrome OS is an embedded single use Linux, with only the Chrome browser. Designed for very quick starting and cloud computing on netbooks. No internet and it's useless.

IMO call it an OS is a bit much, it's a web appliance.

  • thank you

  • I wouldn't call it a OS really.... It's more like a pimped out web browser for netbooks.

  • chrome os is perfect for netbooks and os x is perfect for computers. windows can go die in a hole.

  • No, Chrome OS is perfect for YOUR netbook usage and Mac OS X is perfect for YOUR desktop/laptop usage. Don't state opinion as fact.

  • OS X is perfect for EVERYONE's usage. windows is worthless. you would know that if you own both a Mac and a PC like me.

  • agent09, I use Windows and Mac. I've used Mac for over a year, I don't own one but I know more than enough to say that they both have their advantages and disadvantages. I don't like either one of them better, it depends on what I'm doing. So again, don't state opinion as fact. Thanks.

    Bye.

  • Windows has no advantages other than to piss you off. I own 5 PC's and 3 Macs.

  • How is "to piss you off" and advantage? I own five PC's and am buying a Mac Pro in the near future, probably. Why would I continue to build computers running Windows if all I had was issues with them?.. Oh, that's right, it's because Windows isn't the issue and OEM's such as HP are.

When you tell me that you own 5 PC's and 3 Macs, what's you're point?

  • Comment removed

  • I say this because 99% of mac haters have never owned on before.

  • I don't understand. I'm not a mac hater...

  • Gah, few grammatical errors in that lol... I'm still waking up haha.

  • So you own 2 PCs running Windows then?

  • tushe, I have 8 PC's all running windows and 3 running os x.

  • Is OS X perfect for people who watch full-screen HD flash video by the way, while multitasking?

    I don't think so Tim.

  • it does that... whats yo point?

  • My point is that flash runs like shit on a mac.

  • ??? no it doesn't...

  • Yes it does, go look at some benchmarks, or use the google machine. Flash is a resource hog on a Mac, it uses a ridiculous amount more power than the Windows version.

  • I played farmville and it took twice as long to load on windows on the same hardware...

and it lags on everyones PC. not my mac so...

  • For some reason I highly doubt that, as benchmarks show that the actual speed is pretty much exactly the same when enough hardware is available.

Except, on Mac OS X, it uses more resources. On Windows it may run with 10% CPU usage, and on OS X, several times that.

Go look at benchmarks, they do not lie. And everyone, even Mac fanboys, know Flash for Mac sucks.

  • OK, I went into farmville and its taking up 18% cpu I have a 2.8ghz duo core. what does it take up on yours?

  • According to Chromium's task manager, it's taking up 3-6% CPU usage, I've got a Phenom II X3 720. Bit more powerful than your C2D T9600.

Farmville is a considerably light app though, how about we try some 1080p YouTube playback?

  • watch?v=3MurWPRzmzo

Let me know what CPU usage Flash uses. Chromium says 30% min, 36% max, and average appears to be 33%.

Make sure you set it to full 1080p, not 720p or standard definition.

  • what the fuck. thats a wii emulator. send me a download link for os x anyway.

  • ...Yes, it is a screen recording, of a Wii emulator, at 1080p, on YouTube. Is there something wrong, or are you just surprised by it?

A download link for what, by the way? Chromium? It's just Google Chrome, you can grab the Mac beta if you want, Just google it.

I should let you know though, that if you're having poor performance in Safari with 1080p playback, using the same browser isn't going to make it any better.

    Flash is Flash.

  • I thought we were talking about flash. not some wii emulator using open gl. and i want to know where to get this emulator for os x. I could run the emulator threw windows on my mac but that proves nothing.

  • Dude, you're missing the point. It has nothing to do with the emulator itself, I'm telling you to play back the actual video I linked to. The emulator video was just one I had on hand that happened to have a 1080p option.

But, I already know what results that will yield, as I played back the same video on my sister's MacBook Pro, with a 2.8 Ghz C2D T9600, and it uses 146% CPU usage, compared to my 33%.

    Flash for Mac sucks, period.

  • OHHHHH wow that makes more sense.

I did it and got 125% cpu average using stainless.

Whats the point? run it in windows I bet its close.

  • I highly doubt you run it at 33%

  • tinyurl com / y9d3q26

I thought you might. Like I said, Flash runs like crap on a Mac.

  • btw on a Mac 18% means 18% out of 200% because of both cores. I'm not sure what it does on windows.

  • I'm running leopard. not snow leopard.

  • Depends the mac, My mac will just give up and show that wheel and start stuttering video.

  • @XXASCII808XX You should do a backup of your important data and then do a delete and re install of your HD. That always makes the color spinny thing go away. You should do that once a year to keep your system fresh.

  • actually Windows if perfect for my computer...

I have a 5870 that wold be useless if I only had OS X

  • when I made my series on setting os x free, do you recall how freaked out people got? I never took them down, keep your vids up.

  • mrbit10, i remember emeek went crazy against you for "set OSX Free", which was revelation that if Meek Man will do that to you, then he would do it to anybody.

  • un-private them, its your opinion stand behind what you say.

  • I agree. Why make a video private?

  • agreed...

  • Nice website. What do you use to make your website?

  • iWeb. There is only a limited number of iWeb themes, and 'Made on a Mac' at the bottom of the page sort of gives it away.

IWeb is OK for posting a few family pictures or something, but it's really not suitable for something like podcasting or interactive blogging.

  • i web is very powerful, you dont know what you are talking about

  • I do know what I'm talking about. Having done podcasting and blogging for about 3 years.

iWeb just creates static pages, no interactivity, no separate CSS engine, limited number of themes. Very difficult to embed a Flash player or a 'subscribe in iTunes button'. Things which is essential for a podcast site. It's a CLOSED dead-end.

I would suggest that he uses Wordpress, Which is very easy to use and configure for everything that he's been talking about in the video.

  • Wordpress ftw. It's much more flexible than a static HTML page made in iWeb and like this chap said it'll fit perfectly for what you're trying to do.

Static sites are fine for simple stuff, but if you want some interactivity you'll get way more out of a CMS (content management system) like Wordpress or Drupal. They're designed for making large websites with lots of interactive pages with video and stuff.

  • iWeb, like all WYSIWYG editors, is a piece of shit, and I suggest you shut your mouth on topics such as websites and web design, because you haven't a clue.

  • and you dont know anything about iweb, haha owned

  • Well enlighten us. Heres a simple request. Show me how to edit the HTML code directly in iWeb. I cant seem to find the option.

  • you realize that your name is owned ... you are a Mac Ward? lol

  • Actually, I do, seeing as I owned a MacBook Pro, and my sister still does. "Haha owned" back at you, dumbass.

You, a simpleton end user, have no right to comment on the capabilities of a program such as iWeb, which like all WYSIWYG editors has wretched output.

  • your sister? does your mommy have one too? lmao

  • What kind of comeback is that, exactly? Do you not have relatives? Do your relatives not own computers?

  • lol all those elementary kids using macs, Macward is using a little kids toy!

    OWNED using macward style ownage.

  • iWeb isn't all that brilliant. It's fine for simple stuff with not much going on, but the code is creates is pretty messy and it doesn't offer you that much versitility. For simple sites, it's more than good enough, but for what Eric is hoping to do it'll just add more work for him that he can avoid by using something like Wordpress or Drupal.

  • Macward66, iWeb is probably a good WYSIWYG, though I've never used it so I can't comment. If you want a powerful website done properly, you're going to code it by scratch - suppose this depends on what the user wants their website to do, however.

  • iWeb is the worst part of iLife, most people Don't ever touch it and hate it. if I had to point out from best to worst it would go

    1. iMovie

    2. Garage Band

    3. iPhoto

    4. iDVD

    5.iWeb

  • @XXASCII808XX I ALWAYS customize the install of ilife so that the only app it downloads is iPhoto and iMovie. I use audacity instead of garageband. Garageband is fine for the average consumer but for me who is picky about audio, I prefer audacity. I use toast cus I can't figure out idvd, and iweb is useless for me. I think it's a great suite though all in all.

  • look at websites dsesigned by peter7yao on youtube. He makes great sites on youtube and you can remove the 'Made on a Mac' and can install additional themes

  • Oh yeh I do accept that iWeb can create some beautiful looking web pages.

But they are still static pages with no interactivity such as comments and plug-ins such as PodPress(which is really useful and more or less essential for a podcast's blog). Plus any updates must be done locally then one re-uploads the whole page.

With Wordpress to change the theme. You only have to change the CSS file. Instead of redoing all the pages and re-uploading the whole website.

  • right but you have to pay monthly fees for those services and you can have comments on iWeb you just need to embed html or if you have mobileme you can have comments directly built in

  • I did not check out the website myself.

Applesoldrier is not my best friend as you can tell but I do not dog his tutorials nor would I dog his website. If some folks can learn something from the website tutorilas that is fine with me.

I do not like his constant MS bashing and PC bashing as you can tell.

  • I've done blogging, podcasting and administering a small podcasting website for about 3 years.

Was only trying to provide some constructive criticism. And pointing out that iWeb is not the way to do things, if he wants to do blogging and podcasting. I did suggest that Wordpress would be a much better, easier and open-ended way of achieving this.

  • I agree but of emeek is having fun using his cheap iWeb software that is cool.

  • I realized it was iWeb when I scrolled to the bottom (I didn't do that before I posted my first comment). I have found out that iWeb isn't actually that bad and is actually powerful. Don't get me wrong, but there are plenty of other better WYSIWYG editors out there.

  •     

  • Cool Eric! Keep up the good work!

    5 stars. 

  • Nice one Eric.

  • I've seen the response from the other person and the level of upset was unnecessary.

  • whos vids so I can watch them and know what he is talking about.

  • This would lead to more of the same.

  • Oh gawd he's using iWeb.

IMO a CMS like Wordpress, Drupal or Joomla is much more suited to things like blogs, podcasts, involvement and general interactivity and management.

  •  pl0x

  • Just one question. Why would u need an audio podcast if you already have audio and video, which seems to be working for ya?

Either way it should be good.

  • can u put those videos on private on a other video website??

  • 

  • neat website, i never saw it until now

  • Just seen the site, did you just use iWeb to make it?

  • Another new wallpaper :)

  • sweet he took me up on my idea
