Her footwork from 0:25 to 0:33 is especially amazing - have never seen another dancer do that, dance with that precision, fluidity and quickness. She could also tap dance without too much movement above her feet or too much jerkiness in the knees.

Buddy Rich was hired by Dorsey at 21 in 1938. Dorsey told a reporter shortly thereafter that Rich ''is almost as good as he thinks he is.'' Buddy used the line without attribution on the Johnny Carson Show talking about then 19-year-old Harry Connick, Jr. who also never lacked self-confidence.

All I can say is BEAUTIFUL those drumstick tosses turned out terrific
and Eleanor was simply fantastic and very pretty to say the least..
I wish I could play drums like Buddy..oh well...

How many takes did this scene have? Totally amazing and fun and top notch. Eleanor is the best woman tap dancer of all time in my book. Buddy did well with her. And those stick tosses. Everything is total talent. Them were the days folks. Now it's rap. Alas. John-Hans Melcher "TheQuietDrummer"

Bert Lahrm Red Skelton, Eleanor Powell dancing, Buddy Rich driving the Dorsey Band, Tommy Dorsey and Ziggy Elman soloing.........Can't get much better than that for a Musical number!
