I bought my son the EEE PC as a present for passing one of his exams and I must say, it is very very fast, faster than most other netbooks I have tried out, he is very pleased with it, but he wants to know how to put Mac OS X on it, any tips?
That computer is a small ugly piece of shit. Everex is one of the worst computers companies ever. No one buys their cheap electronic crap, that's why them stupid fucks went out of business.
I have the EEE PC 701 4G.I liked the EEE PC much more than the Cloudbook in this video. The miniature touchpad is awful and theres no wristrest. Also I definitely like that the ventilation is on the left side, cause thats the way I have set up my table and the adapter port is on the back, great, so Its better to work on a table with the EEE PC, but it might not be so good if you are using it on your lap.
I will buy an Everex cloudbook or and via nanobook, i think they're better than asus EEEpc, because they have the same weight and size, ram, screen, ports, with a better HD and processor and almost the same low price, comparing with eeepc... i live in brazil, and an EEEPC with hd4gb is costing 900 - 1200 (about 400 dollars) and an everex cloudbook is costing 1000-1300 reais (about 450 dollars)
I'm using my Eee now and I love it! this thing runs out of memory Quick, its not for big things like games, just good for internet web browsing but its fast!
Please keep in mind, if I'm not mistaken, a hard drive will hold information without as much risk of loss for an extended period of time. Greater than a hard drive, is a tape drive. These are very slow and only used for business with a need for long term secure storage. Just my tidbit of information.
tape technology these days are getting better and faster. ait4 is used for daily backups at medium sized companies. more capacity, faster retrieval. backing up is the best thing in the world. disaster prevention rules!
@steven2122002 There still expensive and cannot hold as much as a HDD. For the most part SSD (Solid State Drives) are only used for your system and programs while you use a HDD for file storage. But once the technology gets better SSD will be the norm and very cheap.
Eee is designed better. However, The Everex has many plus features. Bigger Hard drive, but slower. Faster processor, but non-intel. I like the Design of the Eee with the touchpad in the front. Another plus is the Eee can be upgraded to 2 gigs of ram, and the Everex only 1 gig.
gthreek, Sure your gonna go with what you have. you also have. as far as saying that the via tech is inferior. how much battery life do you get on your eeepc??? i think your full of shit
I personally get about 3 hours overclocked to 1ghz on my eee's celeron. Running XP home edition SP2, 1gb ram. If I do heavy gaming, cut that down about an hour. So 2 hours.
Just so you know, before you go making comments you might want to research cpu architectures. While the cloudbook may be 1.2ghz, and eeepc 900mhz.... its all about archticture. The eee is faster. Think of it this way. Two men are running. One is on a straight path, one on a zig-zag path.
While the man running the zig zag path physically runs faster, he has to go back and forth zigzagging. The other man may run slower, however he has a straight path, nothing blocking him. Who do you think will win? Obviously the man going slightly slower. He doesn't have to zigzag, wasting valuable time. Theres also the issue of getting "stuck" in the zig zags.... (I.E. computer freezes/etc) ... its all about architecture dude. Read up.
In my understanding of hardware, zigzag can be refer to the spining harddrive. Straight path can be refered to the solid state hard drive, which contains no read head and harddrive arm.
For the CPUs part, I personally believe intel has spent more time and money to design a good CPU. So as far as cache and other things like branch prediction is better than the VIA one.
WHAT!!!!??? You got your shit backwards bro. That is the stupidest idea so far. Your saying to buy the underpowered eeepc, spend more on flash memory, and then install the gos that comes with the already beefy cloudbook???
WOW!!!! that is some kind of mind you got there??
What sammlyz was saying was to buy the 2gb EEE PC model which is $299. You can easily get a class 6, 16Gb SDHC card for a little less than $100. It would then be about $399 - same as the cloudbook. Besides, you know that after the HD is formatted the cloudbook only has 13Gb of free space because of the recovery partition.
I prefer my Eee for the sole reason that the solid state storage makes it that good bit more robust - I ferry mine back and forth between school often, and it's withstood a fair few accidental jolts and bumps in its stride. That, and the VIA technology inside the Cloudbook isn't as powerful in my experience. Pity its Cyrix roots... :P
the biggest problem with the cloudbook (i love the concept) is that they are using via unichrome graphics... this doesn't mix well with linux as they need direct x drivers (microsoft) to function properly... Everex really should have used a different gpu.. Thats what will give the eee the advantage 3D rendering..
The Cloudbook is very ugly, and that mose pad looks horrible. I think it's a good start though, and I hope more manufacturers see the potential of reasonably priced UMPC systems.
the everex looks kinda cool, but theres no mouse pad.i dont think it will do to well.the asus is pretty cool.if only they came with the screen filling the whole of the black area.cant wait to see wot other companies bring out.
Is it possible to upgrade the processor??? Really? How? I just ordered my eee pc and it is arriving shortly. Also the touch screen has been ordered ;-)

so if flash drive is quicker than a hard drive then why have most computers got a hard drive
steven2122002 3 years ago
flash drives are still very expensive
jkkmobile 3 years ago
You can get an internal 50GB hard drive for about $100. A 64GB flash drive will set you back about $500.

Because like a hooker, the bigger and slower ones cost less. But the thin and fit hookers cost much more.

Flash drives are of course faster. They dont need to search a disk for info.
